You feel something prod at your mouth. Your vision is hazy and your head hurts; so you just part your lips and hope nothing bad happens. Warm rice porridge fills your senses and your eyes slowly open – Zhongli is sitting on your bed and spoon-feeding you. A damp towel is placed on your forehead and you barely recognize the words coming out of his mouth.
“Are you feeling any better?” He looks gorgeous in the afternoon sun. You assume that he’s pulled open the curtains to let some light in, and his form basked in the golden light is a sight for sore eyes. “[Name]?” Your brain finally computes what he had asked and you nod blearily, parting your lips to ask for more.
His hand raises the spoon to his face and he blows on the porridge for several seconds before delivering it into your mouth. He’s not the best cook in the world, but this rice porridge really feels like the most delicious meal you’ve ever tasted. Although you found it incredibly corny when Ganyu told you that Keqing’s food tasted like it was infused with love, you can’t deny that this is the exact taste you had imagined.
Your eyes flutter shut and you cough, the itch in your throat not going away and your sinuses still congested. Even though your husband is a healing-type. A gentle hand presses to your forehead and Zhongli takes away the towel and presses a kiss to your damp face.
“I will be back.” He sets the bowl of porridge on a tray sitting atop your nightstand and you can only watch as his figure retreats into the distance. You’re sick, delirious, and halfway into the 5th dimension, but you still manage to solely think about how much you love Zhongli. When he returns, you want to cry with joy. Not because of anything corporeal, but because of the love that’s bursting from your heart. You weakly reach and hand out to him and he takes it as he sits. Zhongli’s sleeves are rolled up now because he was wringing out the towel in the sink.
The same towel graces your flushed face with its cool touch once more, the renewed condition due to Zhongli dipping it into the basin and wringing it out. Your eyes flutter shut again, and you bring your hand up to caress Zhongli’s face. His hand follows in suit, warmly enveloping your’s as you rub his cheek with less than a little grace.
Your eyes barely open when you hear the creak of the bed. The dip where he sat was now empty, and he had moved to the other side of the bed to lay with you. A few rustles of the blanket later, his arm was now looped around your waist with his face pressed against your hair.
“You’ll get sick…” You whine, turning in place with much effort. You face him now, his beautiful golden eyes filled with such adoration that you felt another wave of tears swell forth. He smiles, and your will crumbles. He’s never gotten sick in the time you’ve known him, so this should be okay, right? You open your mouth to protest again but he silences you with a tender kiss. “Now you’re really getting sick…”
You grumble and burrow yourself into the sheets, pressing your cheek against his chest. Zhongli chuckles, and the mellow sound practically melts you.
“I do not mind, if getting sick means I get to spend more time with my darling wife.”
