Chapter Text
PRIORITY NUMBER THREE
================
“BLEH!” Theo exclaimed the moment his sister Faye had left. “That was so gross.”
“Yeah.” Nell agreed calmly.
Theo just couldn’t understand how Nell can just see someone flirting with Faye and just act so calm. So many things could go wrong.
For example Faye could attract the wrong kind of suitor and now the three of them would have to move again. Or she could get emotionally hurt and now Theo would have to figure out how to work with Faye’s feelings. Worst of all… Faye might fall in love with someone and just leave her brother and best friend behind.
Then Nell might leave and Theo would be all alone, by himself, with no one to protect, and nothing to do with himself. He would just be a useless little sand shark.
Theo jumped when he realized Nell was right next to him. He hadn’t noticed the jellyfish move.
“I don’t like this… I don’t want Faye to open up to someone and get hurt if someone finds out who we really are” Theo said quickly.
“I understand. I don’t want her to- get hurt either” Nell practically whispered. Theo noticed Nell’s face change for a second, like they were hurt by something but then were fine.
“Do we just… like what do we do like… can we keep people away from her?” Theo thought out loud.
“Like what if we just kill everyone that even looks romantically at your sister” Nell jokes. Theo didn’t take it that way though, and it gave him an idea.
“What if we just lured away her suitors? Then, if they don’t get the message, we could make them not want to talk to her.” He spit balled.
“What do you mean ‘not want to talk to her’?” Nell questioned.
“Like maybe threaten them, or give them a few scars… I’m not quite sure.” He explained.
“What if we made a pact… another priority.” They offered
“Like, Priority Number Three: keep romantic suitors away from Faye?” Theo asked. That sounded nice to him, he could protect his sister without her even knowing.
“Exactly!” the jellyfish chirped. A little too excitedly for the sand shark, but he didn’t mention it.
“I like this idea, but can this just be something we keep between us? I don’t want Faye to get upset.” He asked.
“For sure! That makes sense.” Nell agreed. Then he held out his hand.
Theo took the hand and shook it.
They stayed in silence for a while contemplating what they would do to the flirtatious fish that kept flirting with Faye.
