Backtracking

Summary:

Maybe it was fate that dictated that the world had to perish or that I lost my family, I don't know that yet, I can only assure you that now I have the opportunity to make things right, end Salem, save the world and be able to deliver the future that my loved ones deserve. It's time to go back to those happy times and protect the smiles that little by little I saw disappear

Notes:

Well ladies and gentlemen here we are again, and this time with a new story, some of you may know me for stories from the high school dxd universe or at least I hope so, if not, I invite you to read my other stories.
In this time, I want to share my story in English, I hope you consider me, more knowing that this language is not my main language, so I even used a little help from the internet. If anyone has anything to say, I would appreciate your support in the comments.
This story focuses on time travel, but not the traditional one about Ruby or Jaune, but about an OC character that has a complete relationship with all the main cast, I hope you give it a chance.
With that said, it's time to start this new story called "Backtracking."

RWBY does not belong to me, but to RoosterTheeth.

Characters speaking: "I have to fix it".

Characters thinking: (It's a good idea)

Flashback: I don't know what happened that day

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: ForeWord

Chapter Text

Fate........ a word that many people use regularly to justify a series of events that happen around them, these can be good as well as bad, but is everything we do really dictated by an entity or are they just the consequences of our actions?

Maybe it was destiny that the world perished, that my every person I know died or also that I was allowed to have a family, I would like to think that everything was by my own merit, but it would be deceiving myself ........although that answer doesn't matter anymore, now I had the opportunity to change that destiny imposed to the world and I couldn't let anything get in the way, I would get out of this eternally white wasteland and take destiny in my hands to mold it to my desire, I wouldn't allow so much sacrifice to be in vain, this time things would be done right.

Beacon 1 hour to fall

Chaos

Death

Fear

Those were the words that would simplify the situation that was happening in Vale, what had started as the finals of the Vital tournament quickly turned into a chaos that had not been witnessed for centuries when there was still war in the kingdoms. A student death for the world champion, Grimm invading the streets, the atlas army attacking the people they were supposed to protect, even living this day the consequences would be astronomical for the world, but that would be a worry for tomorrow, right now we have to survive, something marked in the mind of every hunter and slayer.

Ruby Rose was one of these hunters fighting to save people, her black hair with red tips was tossed by the wind that buffeted her as she clung to the platform of the atlas army's main airship.

"How could we end up like this Penny?" that question tossed into the air was getting heavier as she named her late friend. Her body reacting on automatic to the 2 criminals attacking her in sync.

"Does madness begin to consume you little red one? Or why do you ask things to the wind?" the taunting questions did not escape the little reaper who pointed Cresent Rose at her opponent, the scythe sniper ready to open fire.

"Torchwick, why do this, don't you see how many people will die?" his tone exclaiming in pain at the sight of all the chaos in the land, a futile attempt to persuade the accomplices of this horrible deed.

"Should I care?" That answer was all that was enough to infuriate Ruby, with courage she started an attack against the pair of criminals, the Neo girl covered her boss, but Ruby's anger empowered her abilities, with courage she increased the speed of her semblance managing to pass the guard of the girl with multicolored hair, an upward cut with her weapon was covered by the umbrella, but she could do little against the spinning kick in the chest that threw her a few meters in the air, something that caused her to be shot into the distance by the air current.

"Neo!" shouted Torchwick as he saw the one he considered almost like a daughter shoot off into the sky, this enraged the criminal who lashed out at the slayer who could do little to defend herself as she saw her aura depleted by the impulsive attack of a few seconds ago.

All Ruby could do was cover her body with her hands as she listened to the orange-haired man's tirade. She should be angry or cursing at the attack, but innocence still shone in her mind (I guess this is turning the other cheek), she thought as she warned her attacker of the evil intentions he was generating, which would cause the Grimm to be attracted to it, such warnings were ignored causing what she prophesied, soon a Nevermore had consumed Vale's greatest criminal. Ruby took the opportunity to flee, the ship would soon be destroyed fulfilling the original purpose for which she had come "Hopefully the others are faring better" she pronounced as she plummeted to the ground slowing her fall with rounds of gravity gunfire.

Vale Center

"This is getting more and more fucked up" was all one person could utter as he wielded a gray scythe, his body moving to cut through several Grimm and robots alike "Glynda, how's your side doing?" he asked his bespectacled blonde companion who was showing fatigue from the constant combat

"I would like to say that I can still continue, but this is getting more and more tiring, we can't go on like this, the students are in danger, several have already died" the regret in Glynda's voice could be seen, his eyes were on the bodies of some of his students "Qrow, we have to get most of them out of here" he only nodded.

Both were on guard when an hour of Ursas charged towards them, adding the appearance of enemy drones from Atlas, with effort both hunters with support from the students proceeded to attack, but gradually began to be overcome making them start to retreat, except for one student reluctant to accept the start of the loss.

"Cardin, back off" ordered Glynda as she killed some Ursa behind her back.

"We cannot retreat master, if we do so we will slowly lose the city" replied Cardin Winchester reluctantly, his sword cutting down an attacking knight, leaving him uncovered for a direct hit on his right flank.

Qrow upon seeing that prepared to interpose himself between the boy and the Grimm, this being prevented by a shot that blew the beast's head off, the veteran's eyes went to the direction of the shot managing to visualize General IronWood, leader of the entire army of the kingdom of Atlas and who many could blame for the betrayal of the robotic knights. The grip on Qrow's gun tightened at the sight.

This man was focused on destroying several of his knights and Grimm alike, he cared little about taking care of his body from the wounds he had suffered, his mind was in a frenzy at what was happening, his knights were supposed to protect the world, not destroy it, as he killed the last of the knights he allowed himself to catch his breath, his eyes resting on 2 of his friends.

"Glynda, Qrow, are you all right?" the answer to that question was hostility, mainly from the Qrow, the red-haired man's scythe unfurled with hostile intent "Wait Qrow, I swear I had nothing to do with it, I would never do anything like this" little did that excuse avail him as he watched said man dive with intent to cut a body and as far as he knew he was the only one there, so he opened his eyes in shock when Qrow walked past him to save him from being attacked by a flying Grimm

"You're an idiot, I know you didn't do this" replied Qrow with a wry smile "Now what general?"

Ironwood snapped out of his stupor at the question and the squeeze on his shoulder by Glynda "Someone did the impossible and took control of my armada, the dragon Grimm has his attention on the CCT tower, the priority now is to prepare a united fort, Glynda calls every available hunter and slayer in vale and the surrounding area, we need them to come and protect the people" the aforementioned nodded at the order "Qrow head to the tower, Ozpin must be there we must provide support, I will retrieve my ship" the attention of the 3 was cut off by the sound of explosions, these generated by the main ship of the atlas force which crashed in the emerald forest, seconds later the atlantean knights fell off.

"Well, I guess you won't have far to go."

Ironwood nodded with annoyance at his friend's mocking tone "In that case we need to head to the CCT tower, we need to support Ozpin."

So we must face possibly a half-powered maiden and a Grimm dragon possibly hundreds of years old........my unlucky semblance is working wonders today" the grip on Qrow's scythe tightened, a part of him blamed himself for all of this, perhaps his semblance had increased the damage in all of this

"That is not your fault Qrow and you know it, this is not the time to wallow in blame, we must do what is necessary, it is our duty as hunters" both men nodded at what the director of Beacon said, with that the 3 left running to their respective directions.

[REPRODUCE: I MAY FALL RWBY].

"The fall of Beacon..........no is the exact moment that I wanted, but i couldn't turn it down."

These were the words spoken by a boy, located in a totally white space, a place that could not be seen to have an end, the clothes he wore could be normal for some and singular for others, a pair of royal blue jeans, combat boots, a black shirt covered by a red trench coat with white details, his hands covered by gloves, his features could be considered attractive to many girls but nothing remarkable for most, his golden eyes contrasted with his hair as black as night.

"After so long I'll finally see them all."

His mind ran through the memories of every person he could consider important to him.

A boy who would put his welfare for that of his friends, being their shield on many occasions.

The ninja in green and his pancake-loving sidekick

A farmer with a dream to protect the world even though it was forced upon him.

That dusty and sarcastic crow

The girl with an explosive temper, especially if you touched her hair.

And a little book-loving cat

Each one important in his mind, but unable to match 2 specific people, those women he loved more than his own life and for whom he would fight to the death to give them the future they deserved. His hand instinctively touched the rose-shaped necklace and the snowflake-shaped necklace.

The whimsical heiress with a warm heart inside and the girl who could make even the darkest shadows glow, a rose with thorns and a snowflake that could freeze the sun.

His eyes fell on a glyph characteristic of the Schnee family that was formed in front of him, with decision he placed himself in front of it.

"It's time."

Weiss Schnee could be described as a woman who always kept a cool head even in the most difficult moments, proof of this was when she stood up to her father so she could study at Beacon instead of Atlas or when she grew up in her loveless mansion, her skill as a hunter could also be described as perfect and polished, this thanks to her fortified mind for any catastrophe.

Or so she thought. Now she wasn't sure, especially seeing how her friends were on the ground suffering, either from serious injuries or from the exhaustion of all their aura in the face of the Atlantean knights' relentless attack.

"This isn't working" her ears heard the frustration in the words of Coco Adel, leader of the CFVY team, one of the best teams in all of Beacon "Velvet, make it count" the aforementioned, rabbit-eared faun girl nodded enthusiastically, bravely placed herself in front of the top-ranking gentlemen, that machine capable of destroying some of the most dangerous Grimm and which now focused on the fragile girl she considered Weiss so she couldn't help but protest at it.

"You're crazy, it's going to hurt her."

"Just watch," replied Coco.

Weiss could only watch in disbelief as that girl who looked fragile became a warrior with one of the most powerful skills she had ever seen in her life, the technique with which she used various weapons including her own and those of her friends was incredible, she could never get out of her mind that show of power and mastery.

So something boiled in her chest when her friend was knocked down by one of the remaining knights, without thinking she threw herself to protect her, without caring about her surroundings she activated her semblance. Various glyphs appeared on the ground which she used to boost her speed, she had to protect Velvet and her friends no matter what, those people who accepted Weiss with no last name, her last name Schnee didn't matter to them, she could finally just be a normal girl, she would protect that no matter what.

It was with this that something roared in her soul, her aura and semblance responded to it and to her amazement a summoning glyph was created at her back, her eyes could not help but wonder at it, but she had no time to waste, she just hoped this was not a failed attempt, so with determination she placed herself in front of Velvet to cover her, closing her eyes instinctively to the combat robot's strike

Seconds passed and he could not help but notice the lack of pain, little by little he opened his eyes only to see how the robot's arm was stopped by a sword of an exceptional brightness, his sight followed the weapon until it landed on the person who held the weapon, being a young black-haired man who stopped the attack effortlessly, that would impress many, but for Weiss what really caught his attention was that the young man was standing on his summoning glyph.

The man wasted no time and masterfully used his weapon to cut the arm of the mechanized android, not only that but with unseen speed he proceeded to cut the robot into several parts, when he finished this the golden eyes of the young man put his attention on the blue ones of the heiress who could not help but feel overwhelmed and warm before all the feelings that were in those orbs.

Weiss could not help but ask if her invocation had been able to bring this young man to her aid.

Little did he know that she had succeeded in bringing change to the entire world.
