A sigh echoes even as the door clicks shut and Alex smiles, shifting onto the bed and resting a pillow in her lap for Sarah when she comes in. Sarah shuffles around the room to change and prepare for bed, curling herself on the bed and letting her head rest on the pillow in Alex’s lap, a soft sigh of contentment escaping her when Alex’s fingers curl through her hair.
“Long day?”
“Mmm. Getting really tired of the meetings.”
Sarah murmurs, relaxing slowly under Alex’s soft caresses, finding peace in the gentleness of Alex’s touch even when she knows hard work will always be worth it as long as she gets to come home to Alex and her kindness.
