Work Text:
One day, there were two little eggs sitting on a beach, waiting for the light of the full moon so they could hatch and go swim in the ocean. Except they couldn’t, because the beach they were on was inside, and underground. They simply had to sense the vibes of the full moon through the ground in order to know when to hatch.
When the first little egg finally began to crack, it revealed a lil guy named Mr. Peabody. He looked at the other lil egg and began to imagine what it would be like when the other lil egg hatched. He hopped into the underground lake and began swimming around, eating sea grass and being generally very bored.
Like three days later, the other lil egg finally started to crack, and out popped Shrek. Shrek was very lil, as lil as Mr. Peabody was when he first hatched. Except Mr. Peabody had been swimming so long he was a big guy now. He’d dropped his scute and grown into the lil pond they called home.
Mr. Peabody watched as Shrek explored their home, doing a lil swim here and there and munching on some grass too. When Shrek finally grew up, he swam over to Mr. Peabody with that blank turtle expression and Mr. Peabody was like, oo, I love him. He approached Shrek, doin a lil dancy dance in the water with him, and then went towards the lil beach.
When he went back in the water, he left a lil egg behind. He knew there would be more, but he needed to pause and take a nap, maybe eat some more sea grass before he continued. Shrek gave him another blank turtle stare as they swam around the lil lake, and then Mr. Peabody was back on the beach.
The first lil egg began to crack, and eventually out popped a lil guy, which they named Sherman. No clue why, maybe it’s just a multiverse thing. Anyways, Sherman joined them as they swam around their lil pond, splashing and nomming on the sea grass. He got big too, and they were left to wait for the other 12 eggs Mr. Peabody had laid to hatch.
Mr. Peabody was very happy with his life. He may never see the sun, and have a cursed relationship with a fellow male turtle named after some fictional Ogre, but he had seagrass and way too many kids, so he was happy.
