“What the fuck do you mean?!” Kacchan yelled hitting the table in front of him. Recovery Girl barely flinched just shaking her head.
“That you’re pregnant.”
“And how the hell did that happen?” This time Kacchan's hands had transferred to his head, pulling at his hair. Deku was sure he saw a few strands come out.
“That’s just the consequences that come with having unsafe sex,” She said with another disapproving shake of her head. Kacchan looked ready to explode literally. Deku was sure there was even steam coming out of his ears. And off his hands.
“I didn’t have a fucking uterus last I knew so how the fuck was I supposed to know there would be goddamn consequences?!” This time Deku was sure it was actually going to happen and that Kacchan was going to try to blow up their poor school nurse who had done nothing wrong but tell Kacchan what was happening to him.
They had come because Kacchan had started getting sick and it was starting to affect his performance in training. Deku had come with him when they came back a week later for some reason they hadn’t actually told either Deku or Kacchan. Now it seemed that they had thought that having his younger brother there would soften the blow. Apparently having him there was good for multiple reasons. Although they didn’t know the second reason.
“Thank you so much Recovery Girl,” Deku said with a very nervous smile. It wasn’t that he wasn’t confused about the situation. But he always had to be the calm side to Kacchan’s overreactive, “Well be on our way now. Come on Kacchan.”
Kacchan shook Deku's hand off his shoulder saying indignantly, “Fuck no. I want a goddamn explanation.”
“Come on Kacchan. She’s told us all she knows,” Deku said eyes nervously flickering between Kacchan and Recovery Girl.
“And I told you I’m not fucking leaving until someone can tell me why the fuck this happened!” Kacchan was loud as he spoke and Deku was sure those walking past could hear the whole thing. Deku sighed.
“Come on Kacchan.” Deku tried one last time. When it was clear by Kacchan's face that he was not going quietly, Deku sighed again. He would have to rely on his worst-case scenario. Which included picking Kacchan up and throwing him over his shoulder, forcing him out of the room.
Still, Kacchan didn’t go quietly, screaming at Deku to put him down while hitting Deku’s back. Deku however didn’t give up, shooting Recovery Girl a sympathetic smile as he left, walking down the hallway.
When it became clear that Deku wasn’t putting him down, Kacchan quieted down, crossing his arms as best as he could. Deku didn’t look the students they passed in the eyes. At least Kacchan wasn’t screaming anymore. But Deku felt like this was more embarrassing for him than for Kacchan.
“You can put me down now asshole,” Kacchan grumbled.
Deku was skeptical as he said, “Are you going to try to run back and yell at poor Recovery Girl again?”
“I’m not a child,” Kacchan said with a huff. It was clear he thought this was a good enough answer. However, he spoke up when this became clear Deku disagreed, “Fine. No, I won’t go yell at Recovery Girl again. Happy?”
Deku nodded finally putting Kacchan down as they approached the dorms. They walked in silence to Deku's room where they often hung out. No one seemed to be around right now although once Deku remembered what time and day it was it made sense. Of course, no one would be here in the middle of the day on a weekday.
They sat side by side on Dekus's bed each not knowing what the hell to say. Neither of them was exactly expecting this. Deku assumed it all came from a quirk mishap while outside of school. But that didn’t change the fact that they were feeling the consequences that they never thought they would have to deal with. Consequences that no one else knew the full extent of.
And Deku could tell it was weighing on Kacchan. Deku felt like he could read him so well at this point as he imagined Kacchan could him. And of course, while Deku was worried and wondering what they would do he imagined it was a lot worse for Kacchan who was the one who would have to actually carry the baby.
“What the hell are we going to do Izuku?” Kacchan asked his voice quiet. It all surprised Deku. The combination of a usually quiet voice from Kacchan but also the fact that he was for once calling him by his name. Which he hadn’t called him since they were kids.
“What do you want to do? My opinion doesn’t really matter,” Deku said with a slight laugh. Trying to find some kind of humor in the situation.
Kacchan was quiet for a moment before saying, “But I want your opinion. If I kept it would you stay around? Do you think I should just get rid of it and call it a day?”
Izuku thought for a moment before giving out more of a pros and cons list. It was what he did better than a suggestion, “Well of course I would stay if you chose to keep the baby. But there is more than that to consider. We don’t know how safe it would be for you to give birth. It would affect your hero career and no one’s felt this kind of thing before. Then of course there’s-” Deku trailed off, unsaid words hanging between them.
Kacchan was quiet and it wasn’t until he heard the other give a quiet sniff and looked over that he realized Kacchan was crying. Yet another unusual thing of today is, “I just don’t know what to do Izuku.”
Deku felt bad, trying to hold back his own tears. He was a sympathetic crier. Honestly just an easy crier. But he had to hold it together for his Kacchan, for his older brother, “It will be fine Kacchan,” he said, gathering Kacchan in his arms, “We don’t have to figure it out now.”
“I mean no one even knows about us,” Kacchan said, with another sniff into Deku’s shoulder. Despite the fact that Kacchan was a year older, Deku was the taller one.
Deku was quiet for a moment, thinking it all over. He of course didn’t have a good solution that would solve all of their problems. Every solution he could come up with would have some sort of consequences. Nothing would have no repercussions.
“You don’t have to have the baby.” Deku said with a sigh, pulling back to look Kacchan in the eyes, “You don’t have to give up on being a hero or risking people finding out that I’m the father. But I will of course support you no matter what.”
Kacchan sighed, wiping at his face. It seemed the shame that normally came with the few times that Deku had seen his older brother cry had come. But Deku didn’t mind. As someone who cried at the smallest things, he didn’t mind that sometimes his brother had to cry as well.
“I know,” Kacchan said with a sigh. He was quiet for a moment and Deku didn’t speak. He could tell that Kacchan wasn’t finished just yet, “It’s just all a little overwhelming.”
“If it helps it’s probably just hormones from the baby,” Deku said with a shrug. One of his modes of comfort. Saying random facts about the situation.
It made Kacchan laugh however as he shook his head, “I know it’s just weird that I even have to think about how me crying randomly is probably because of fucking pregnancy hormones.”
“I know you’ll figure it out Kacchan,” Deku said with a bright smile to his older brother. Kacchan shot back a less enthused smile.
“We’ll figure it out Izuku.” He said, his smile becoming a little more genuine.
