Chapter Text

Typing…

Hey David, want to go grab some pizza

deleting…

No, that 's stupid. Let’s try…

typing…

Devi, wanna go out for dinner?

No, he didn't even use “wanna?”

Devi, let's go grab dinner

No, that's an imposition.

Devi, I miss you, would you like to come?

Wait no, that sounds like a bad sex joke. It’s also too vulnerable.

David,

Good. She liked when he called her David.

David, would you like to go out?

That sounds like a date? Or was it friendly? Were they friends, or something else? She said catch you on the flippity flip- that sounded friendly.

He ran his hands through his hair in frustration.

This was a mistake, if she wanted to see him she would have texted him or came to his house. She isn't someone that waits around. Maybe she didn’t want to see him. That's okay, he likes being friends, he likes...

His phone lit up.

If they gave a prize to whoever opens a message the fastest it would be for him.

Hey Ben, when are we going to go on that date?

Margot, right. How did he forget about Margot? He promised to go on a date with her, and then didn’t even text her. Margot was nice, and fun, and they have art in common (even though she was a much better artist). He must’ve zoned out, because another message came through.

I can see that you read my message, is something wrong? Look dude, I was just joking around. We can just hang out, we're friends.

He smiled. She was pretty cool.

I was actually thinking about where we could go, since you work at the mall and you're probably tired of being there.

He looked at the drafts he had written for Devi and erased them. It was time to let her go.
