Work Text:
"Whoa there, cowboy... we're only moving apartments, not moving a whole colony-" You're bewildered at the number of boxes your charming electric blue haired boyfriend is carrying, not that it's surprising at all how he can carry heavy stuff (he was handsomely buff), but you figured it was way too much.
"We're moving to the Overworld, (y/n)! Papa's gotta carry out all his precious babies!" Sampo muses, shuffling his feet carefully to not knock some of his valuables on his path. He makes a beeline for the door, turning towards you with a cheesy grin. "The door, please, my liege?"
You roll your eyes, opening the door for him. "Just don't come crying to me if you break your back carrying all those "relics"." You sift past him, heaving your own belongings onto the cart outside your current, rackety apartment. This was what used to be your home, good old Boulder Town, quaint with its dimly lit streets and alleys, the infamous Fight Club you'd spend your Friday nights at⸺ all this to be something new, you were moving to the Overworld, or better known as Belobog. You knew of your origins, you grew up here, but as far as your parents were concerned, they were born of Belobog, and had to move to the Underworld due to some social class issues. Just your luck, but it wouldn't be luck indeed if you had stayed at the Overworld. You would've never found the man of your dreams.
Or...at least it's what you thought when you were daydreaming like a schoolgirl. You peer over Sampo, busy rummaging through his older stuff, mumbling a few words of "business", "clients", "relics", "profit", oh, the usual. Ah, yes, the man of your dreams was apparently a sleuthy businessman who earned most of his profits conning people. Well, maybe not ALL the time, considering how some of his schemes don't quite end up as well as he wants them to. He either gets caught by Silvermane Guards and get thrown into jail or gets his ear scolded off by Natasha. And yet, somehow you still adored him for being "cunning" and "sleuthy".
"You're staring again, honey," Sampo teases, putting down a rather dusty wooden box, converting his gaze towards you instead. "Don't worry, it's nothing shady...or a scam. This is just an old trinket I got from an old friend."
You chuckle. "It's not that," Carefully, you set yourself down onto a nearby chair in your tiny shared living space, smiling. “I’m going to miss this place.”
“What, this old apartment? You know we’re moving to a better one later up there, right? They got hot water, a proper air-conditioning system-”
“I meant Boulder Town, you big oaf.”
“Eh, it’s whatever…”
You wrinkle your brows in response, seeing that Sampo is pulling away from his spot and moving indoors to continue his work. “As much as I love the promising customers and business prospects, I fear that I’m not really going to miss this place as much as you do, love.” Before continuing, Sampo snickers, shrugging. “I mean I've been traveling up and down ILLEGALLY almost every week! Depending on what business will be waiting for me, I'm almost like a diplomat!"
SMACK!
"Hey- OW!!" He writhes in pain, since you've just landed a perfect punch on his arms. "Careful! I just toned those biceps last night."
"Oh, shut it you big cry baby. You're welcome to feel like a foreigner up there any time, or is it because you're mostly a wanted criminal too? Is that why you're so nervous, Mr. Moneybucks?" Teasing and calling him names was already a norm for you both. It was an odd silent understanding, how you both spoke the same love language of "words of abuse". Deep down, this is how you cared for each other, you understood him best compared to anyone else he's met, as far as you both were concerned.
Sampo rolls his eyes good-naturedly. "Speak for yourself, Hot Shot. Let's not forget who bailed who out of prison last time.."
"I got caught ONCE! And you bailed me THAT ONE TIME! You're never gonna let that go, are you?" You smack him again, but this time he catches your hand swiftly, pulling you in.
"Nooooo~ and what are you gonna do about it, Robin Hood?" The nickname that suited you perfectly. Boulder Town's renowned thief who only courageously and "chivalrously" steals from the rich, the rich being none other than the Overworld people. The way you do it? You smuggle yourself along with Sampo when he's doing business, too. Smuggled by a smuggler. The last time you both were caught is when one of your trusty gadgets malfunctioned, setting off quite the blazing alarm, alerting the Silvermane Guards in the area. Not your best record, but for the most part, you live up to your name.
Grinning mischievously, you run up a finger up Sampo's collar, cooing gently in his ear. "Might I remind you I'm also a frequent champion at the Fight Club? I could break your bones, mi amor..."
You could almost swear you felt a shiver from him, coursing to your fingertips as you started to make your way to his chin. Your partner in crime smiles, giving that iconic smug look. "Mm, you wouldn't want to do that. Bad investment," Sampo pushes you back, starting to gently peck your jaw up towards your cheek. "You wouldn't wanna break this pretty face, babe."
And he was right. You would never be able to see the day his pretty face get ruined or damaged, you were such a loser for him. Sampo notices you in your daze, chuckling lowly to continue his antics. You feel his calloused fingers trailing onto your now exposed belly, the bastard lifted your shirt by his own intent. Not that you hated it, no. You let him linger, eyes fixating on his jade green orbs, you start to feel hot on your cheeks. “Cat got your tongue?” He asks, knowing very well you were already in a trance.
You were always so easily lured into his gaze. You grip his thigh firmly, shaking your head. “Says who?”
“Says me, Sampo Koski.” He leans in, unbeknownst to you of him to steal a rather needy kiss. “It’s okay, kitten. I’ve got you.”
Oh, you were losing it. One kiss from him and it's over for you. You've lost. "Mm, alright, fine, you got me." You giggle, pulling him even closer to make sure you’re giving him the same amount of kisses on his lips too, if not more. Moments like this were not to be wasted, as if making up for the time you never lost with Sampo. He was irresistible; his tousled blue hair tangled in between your fingertips now, his perfectly sized digits working their ways onto your body in ways you could never explain, the way he occasionally likes to hum and chuckle between your kisses⸺ everything about him was yours to keep, and he’d always let you take advantage of your perks.
Though, it took more than a few minutes to unravel what was happening, a huge wooden box you accidentally stub onto realizes you should finish packing soon. "Sampo, we should be packing, though⸺"
"Who caaares? We'll do 'em later..." He whispers roughly, getting a bit handsy on your chest now.
"EHEM."
A familiar sound is heard from your doorway, you and Sampo peel your hungry eyes away from each other and find a very impatient looking Natasha, a bewildered Oleg, and a flustered Seele who was already fleeing the scene, screaming; "JUST GET YOUR ASSES DONE! PLEASE."
You and Sampo immediately push each other away and start picking up the remaining boxes from your spaces, with Natasha already scolding you both for being tardy.
"You guys really can't keep your hands to yourselves, can you?! We're on a schedule here!" Natasha tells you off, but more to Sampo since he basically is like his older sister of some sort.
"Young love, Natasha...it happens.." Oleg drifts off, chuckling away. "Come on, Natasha, let's just wait outside. They know we're here." He pulls the young doctor away, winking at you. "Don't take too long, kid."
You shoot Oleg an appreciative smile, hurrying your boxes one by one.
As soon as you and your goofball businessman boyfriend were done, you both took one last long glance at the old place. As much as Sampo didn't want to admit it, you could see the little sadness in his eyes, knowing that this very apartment was the place he spent his years in. You were one of those memories, and it was why you expressed how you were going to miss this place.
"We'll make new ones up there, yeah?" he suddenly asks, breaking the silence between you two.
You look over at him, his face now somehow full of worry. "New what? Crimes? Illegal documents? Tax evasion?" you tease.
Sampo laughs, putting an arm around you. "Well, sure, THAT much. But I meant memories. I am coming back occasionally to the Underworld for regular business, but.."
"..but it'll never be the same because it won't be home anymore?" You test.
"Yeah. Kinda." He responds, gently shaking his head. "We met here. You broke into my bedroom thinking I was an Overworld representative and robbed me of my treasures..."
You shove a gentle nudge to his rib, smiling at the memory. "For the record, I attempted to. Besides, you were really well-dressed for an Underworlder, yannow. Could've fooled me. You had no manners too, how could I have not seen it?!"
"I was young! I didn't know I'd be insulting the presence of my future partner!" He whines.
"Sleazeball."
"Tch, I pleade the fifth." He squeezes your shoulder just a bit, taking in the air before he speaks again. "I don't say this a lot, but... let's make new ones, 'kay? This thing we got? It's a lifetime business deal."
You punch him lightly (not really) and walk away, chuckling. "Yeah, yeah, new crimes, new tax evasions, blablabla..."
"YOU GUYS ARE REALLY ASKING FOR IT NOW. YOU'RE NOT MAKING OUT AGAIN, ARE YOU?" Seele's impatient yelling is triggered yet again, and you immediately run outside to reassure her there is no funny business.
"NO! NO WE WEREN'T!"
"We were only locking up, I swear!"
"Good! Because if you guys still aren't done, I will have to take drastic measures-"
"That really won't be necessary!"
You and the rest finally load everything to the cable car, you take one last glance towards your old home. You and Sampo's new home will be waiting beyond the boundaries, up in the Overworld, and there are plenty of new memories in store for you to create.
A new normal to start for you both.
