“We're Normal, that's what we are.”

Summary:

The sibling of a hero and the child of a villain. Both of their respective families are furious at them for dating or even hanging out with each other. The kids just think their dad’s and brother's feud is stupid.

Notes:

This is an alt ending to my un-written ending for 'I'm Not Sorry".

Work Text:

The two lovers kissed each other passionately the moment they met, glad that they were once again able to meet despite the best efforts of one's disgruntled dad, and the other's older and very protective twin brother.

“Your dad give you trouble?” Akari asked.

“Of course he did! Went on another rant about 'Fraternizing with that oh so heroic sibling of that sanctimonious bastard’ and all that,” the Souh replied.

“He called me 'heroic’?” Akari laughed, and Souh chuckled back. "Kats’ was the same. How you'd corrupt me, bewitch me with your,” he said, gently running his fingers through the boy's hair "villainous wiles.”

"How do you know I didn't do exactly that?” he smirked.

"How do you know I'm not wearing a wire for the heroes right now?” he fired back. The two laughed and went on their walk.

Ice cream, fresh summer air, a playful offer of robbing a bank, looking at ducks… it was a perfect afternoon. The two found themselves at a bench, watching the park's serene lake.

"What does your brother say about my dad anyway?” the boy asked seemingly out of nowhere.

“Oh, you know. Supervillain, breaks the law, holds no regard for safety…”

"That's… that's not even remotely-” Souh tried to protested.

“I know, but you have to admit…” Akari shrugged. He lowered his head.

“I know,” he started, "his relationship with the law is…” he motioned his hand, "tenuous, shall we say, but he's… he's not that bad of a person you know? He never hurt anyone. Ever. at least not on purpose. And he pays for the damages he causes, indirectly. Usually.”

“You're telling me. People think my brother is some boy scout but he ain't all good either. He throws a car at a bad guy and doesn't even bother exchanging insurance.”

"Why does he do it anyway?” Akari asked. “I mean, not like he robs the banks for money. You guys are loaded."

"You know last month? First National?” Akari nodded; a great battle between their dad and brother ensued. Media coverage was through the roof.

"He shouldn't have gotten in. The bank manager skimmed on security. City hall knew but profited off of it as well. He tried showing it, how broken the security system was, but…"

"Not in the best of ways,” he finished the sentence for him. “And my brother just had to go fight him.”

The two shared the somber moment in quiet reflection.

"Say…” Akaristarted, “if your dad is a 'villain’ but not really all bad, and if my brother is a ‘hero’ but not really all good… what does that make us?”

Souh smiled and looked him in the eyes.

"Normal. That makes us normal.”

They kissed one last time, went their separate ways, and told their respective family that they we’re just out with friends.
