Chapter Text
"One...Two...Three...Four...Five..Amateurs." I thought as I steadily counted the "Spies" throughout the bar. "And they're the ones who are supposed to bring me in." I chuckled bitterly to myself.
Someone coming up to my left beside me brought me out of my thoughts. The tiny stool squeaking as they sat in it. "I'd like to be left alone if you don't mind." I said feigning politeness. The stranger didn't pay me any mind and went on to say..."Haven't seen you around, you new?".
Ignoring them I began to look at the menu doing my best to avoid talking. Not taking the hint the stranger continued on "What's someone like you doing in a place like this?" ,they asked in dubious tone.
Rolling my eyes, while internally cringing at the thought of making small talk. "I am a tourist from America." ,I exhaled still keeping that feigned politeness. Seeming content with my answer, I was finally left alone with my own thoughts.
Since there didn't seem to be anymore "spies" that I wasn't already aware of, I decided to start scouting for information. Eyeing anyone who seemed to know something, I had laid eyes on my first subject.
Tall and lean, yet firm and reserved, white button up, fitted pants, unusual dress shoes, and a gold chain to top off the look. This person will make a fine subject. I hopped off my stool and made my way towards him. Like a predator towards its prey, I began my interrogation.
Upon further inspection, the man looked a bit on the drunk side. "Too easy." "Hey there~...I'm new in town and I was wondering if you could help me with a few things?" I purred. "S-sure *hick-up* what can I do *hick-up* for you?"... As the conversation progressed the only useful thing I learned was that there is absolutely nothing interesting about this man.
"What a waste of time." I sighed. Deciding to call it a night, I go to leave the bar. "Goodbye Le Syndicat." I mumbled. Heading out the door, the cold crisp air mixed with rain hit my face. Fortunately my temporary apartment isn't far from here....
On the way to the apartment I made sure to make mental landmarks, and ensured that I wasn't being followed. "Tch...as if those amateurs could tail me." I said coldly. While walking I began to take in the beautiful scenery before me.
The way the street lights complimented the moonlight, lighting the road up in an enchanting way. The warmth glow contrasting the cold crisp air. The ocean glowing all around with that same warmth. Even at night the capital of France, Lyon proved to be one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Coming here to initiate my plan was a good idea, not just because of the resources but also for the amazing scenery. Passing by all these people, some families and friends, coworkers, and just strangers.
Not a care in the world, it's a shame that soon their perfect little worlds will be taken from them. "Well almost..." I thought apatheticly.
Upon seeing that familiar crooked bench on the cement I was pulled out of my own thoughts. Pulling out my keys, I hurriedly walked through the door. Seeking food, fresh clothes, a nice shower and sleep.
I woke up at around 5 in the morning, so used to their rules. "I need to get myself out of that habit. I thought I had long ago purged myself of that stupid organization. " I scowled.
I begin to do my daily routine, preparing myself for the long and tedious day ahead. *Ding* *Ding* *Ding* New message from Weasel...
I go to see who texted me, the fact that anyone was able to contact me was a feat in itself. "Weasel...hm" ,I thought.
Weasel:
Dear Reaper, it has come to my attention that you have finally defected from that treacherous organization. And I have a feeling it was for good reason, so how about you and I work together.
5:15am
Reaper:
I see you have done some research on me and my whereabouts, but if you did enough you'd see that I strictly work alone. While I appreciate the offer...I do not need your help. That is all.
5:20am
