Chapter Text
"I....I love you", Scaramouche said as he held Ain's hands.
"Cut, It's time to wrap it up now.", the director interrupted.
Scaramouche sighed of relief as he lets go of your hands
"Ha- I'm glad it's over, what a pain.", he said as he looks at you up and down, crossing his arms.
"I can't imagine myself being with someone like you", he added, a cocky sneer visible on his face.
Ain scoffed as he also retracted his hands from Scaramouche's
"You think that was hard for you? I wouldn't want to be with someone of your caliber either.", Ain retorted.
"I'm a world-class actor. You don't even have the face to become one. It's a surprise you even made it this far", Scaramouche commented, arching an eyebrow, his cocky smile still visible on his face. He then turned his back and walked towards the stage exit.
"Ha- that's the best insult you can come up with?", The older actor said, crossing his arms as he followed his acting partner to exit the stage.
Upon hearing Ain's comment, Scaramouche turned back to face Ain before replying
"If you think you could do better than me, feel free to come up with a comeback right now.", He said, as if to challenge Ain.
Ain raised an eyebrow at his acting partner's remark
"And why would I waste my time just to argue with you?", Ain replied.
Scaramouche chuckled sarcastically, his signature cocky smile still on his face
'What you're telling me is that you can't come up with anything. You can either give me a better comeback or shut up, your choice.", Scaramouche said.
Ain shrugged his shoulders, a grin visible on his face
"Or- I could just ignore you and get some lunch. Anything is far better than having to waste my breath on the likes of you."
Scaramouche rolled his eyes upon hearing your remark, but when you took your step to leave the stage, he stepped forward to block your path. His expression stern, with his hands in his pockets
"I'm giving you one last chance to come up with a better comeback.", he said, the cocky expression on his face still unchanging.
Ain stopped on his track for a moment before smiling at Scaramouche and passed by him to exit the stage, not saying a single word back. The younger actor stood there seething as Ain walked past him. He cursed under his breath before walking off the stage into the break room where he started pacing. He tried to calm himself down after getting ignored and rejected by his acting partner, trying to rationalize the fact that Ain was so calm. It infuriated him even more knowing Ain could treat the situation so casually. He took several deep breaths before sitting down.
"You won this round.", he said under his breath, still restless and angry.
After half an hour, the break ended and the both of them had to return to the stage. This time, they were scheduled to shoot a scene where Rein, the character Ain was playing as, and Sean, Scaramouche's role, had a fight caused by a misunderstanding.
"....Tell me, did you really sleep with Cass?", Ain, or "Rein" to be exact, said as his eyes were on the verge of tears, but it was visible he was meaning to hold it back, he was afraid that if he cried, he'll lose to Sean.
Scaramouche seemed genuinely taken aback that the scene would go in this direction, so much that he stops for a moment before shaking his head, a hint of a frown on his face
“Wait what? I don’t remember the script going this way..” his voice is laced with confusion, as if he didn’t read the script properly, but he’s also a little nervous, he’s never done a scene like this before.
The director directly told the recorder to cut the scene as he went up to Scaramouche, it was visible he was upset his actor didn't act the scene accurately
Director: "What's wrong with you today? Did you not read the script properly before??"
As the director yelled at him, Scaramouche jumped in surprise and his face went red from embarrassment. He had trouble coming up with an excuse so he just blurted out something in fear
“Well- I read the script, but I don't remember the scene going in this direction! I'm-...I'm sorry.” he said, looking downwards, he was ashamed he made that mistake after being in the industry for more than 4 years.
The director scolded Scaramouche for his mistake for almost half an hour when Ain couldn't take it anymore, he walked up to the both of them to stop the argument from turning into an even worse direction.
"Director, I think that's enough. I think Scaramouche here just haven't had enough rest recently, hence his mistakes. Isn't that right, Scara?", Ain said as he glanced towards Scaramouche's direction with a smile.
"I'm sure you're wise enough to let this go, Director.", Ain added.
After a few words from Ain, the director seemed to quell his anger and he walked away
"Are you alright?", Ain said as he once again glanced at Scaramouche.
