The morning light seeping through the curtains, the two men lying on the bed, Alfie on his stomach with light snoring, Niks hand on his lover's back. He stares at Alfie ’s sleeping face for a long time, tracing the curves with his fingers. His eyes soften and he presses a kiss to his lovers' forehead. Alfie doesn’t stir, but Niks smiles anyway and gets up. He looks down to the floor and grabs his tossed pants and puts it on and then grabs his shirt and that one as well, he definitely enjoyed the night they had. They deserved some alone time, he looks at Alfie then leaves the room, closing the door behind him and goes to the kids' room that was once just a guest room.
He opens the door and sees the twins sleeping, he walks in and nudges Guss and Callum, "Wake up boys, Time to get up."
The two twins look up at their father with wide eyes and startle awake. "Dad?" Callum asks, rubbing his eyes, trying to wake himself up even more by sitting up straight and squinting at Nik. "Get ready for school quickly, don't need you boys to be late" the man says, ruffling their hair before leaving the room again. The boys jump out of the bed and rush into the bathroom, brushing their teeth while looking for clothes. Nik leaves them so they can do whatever they do to get ready, he starts walking downstairs and he can smell the breakfast already. The smell makes his mouth water, and as he reaches the bottom of the stairs, he hears laughter coming from the dining room. He enters the room and sees the maid making food for the family, "Good morning, Nikola" "Good morning, ladies".
He smiles at them all and sits down at the table, grabbing his cup of coffee and watching them preparing everything. He finishes his coffee, " I'm going to wake Alfie up" he gets up and walks up the stairs. Nik finds his lover fast asleep and kneels beside him, cupping his cheek and kisses his nose, "Alfie" he whispers softly and Alfie's eyes flutter open. "Morning beautiful" he says, smiling and running his hands through Alfie's hair. "Good morning" he responds, kissing him. Nik watches them for a few moments after getting up Alfie grabs his clothes from the dresser and puts them on, Nik watching him while he puts on his clothes.
Then he turns back around, and Nik is leaning against the wall, watching him. Alfie looks at him questioningly and Nik leans closer until their lips are touching, slowly brushing them against each other and Alfie moans into the kiss. Nik pulls away slightly to catch his breath, "Come, we have to hurry now. Breakfast will be ready soon" he stands up and holds out a hand, which Alfie takes and follows him. they hear the sound of sizzling meat and when they go downstairs the maids greet them with "Good morning Mr. Solomon" Alfie yawns give a wave to the maids, they hear little feet running from upstairs and down the stairs, and Alfie turns to see the twins jumping around in excitement.
they sit down at the table and eat, everyone talking happily and enjoying each other's company. After finishing their meal, Alfie says, "Well, you better head to school" and the twins groan in protest, whining like little babies, and Nik chuckles a little, shaking his head "Come on get to school" he starts to gently push the two boys out the door and he hug them goodbye, Alfie leaning on the door frame waving bye when they leave.
Nik waits till the sound of the front gate closes behind him before sighing deeply. Alfie comes up behind him, wrapping an arm around him, holding him close "You okay, Nik?" he asks and Nik nods, still frowning. "Let's go inside, then" Alfie says and leads the way, closing the door and taking Nik to the living room. They both sit down on the couch, and Nik lays down his head in Alfie's lap, Alfie pauses, "What are you doing?" "Trying to get comfortable, idiot" Alfie not knowing what to do but he slowly places his hand on Nik's head. It's soothing to Nik and he closes his eyes contentedly, Alfie leans more into the couch, he relaxes a little bit and starts humming, Nik listening to Alfie humming a tune. Nik smiles and nuzzles into Alfie's thigh. When he opens his eyes again, he sees Alfie Lying his head on his hand on the arm rest, eyes closed. They stay like this for a while until Nik finally breaks the silence, "Alfie" he mumbles, voice husky and low, Alfie opens his eyes to look at Nik.
"Hmm, yes?" Alfie responds.
"I got something for you" Nik says, he gets up from Alfie's lap and quickly walks up to the closet and opens it, he reaches into the room and grabs something, Alfie sits there wondering what he has.
Nik has cardboard and walks towards the old record player; he takes out and puts it in the player. He plays the first song playing on the record, The song starts with, Love Is the Sweetest Thing from Ray Noble. Nik walks up to Alfie and grabs his hand and leads him to the middle of the room, and he holds him close to his body and starts swaying to the song, Alfie wraps his arms around Nik's torso and rests his head on his shoulder. "Happy birthday, my love" "You remembered" Alfie looked up at him with a soft gaze, "of course I did."
Nik smiles and kisses Alfie on the temple, and they dance for about a minute when the song changes to another song, Alfie never really danced before he wasn't much of a dancer, but he didn't care, he rest his head on Nik's chest, and he could the man's strong heartbeat. Nik rests his hands on Alfie's hips and moves his body in sync with Alfie. Eventually he stops dancing and brings Alfie in a deep embrace, holding him against him. After a long period of silence he speaks, "I love you, Alfie" Alfie smiles against Nik's neck, "I love you too" they stand like that for a moment longer before Nik starts to sing quietly with song, His Scottish accent made it better for Alfie who listened carefully, following Nik's movements. Nik was good at singing songs, especially ballads. As he sang along, he started humming and dancing with him, swaying and moving their bodies together.
When the song ended, Nik said something that surprised Alfie, "I would marry you if I could, you know that right?" Alfie looked at him shocked, "Really?" Nik nods "Yes, really, that's why I got you this", he takes out a ring and he looks at Alfie with a warm look, "Alfred Solomon, I will promise you in the future we will get married, when we have the right to get married." Alfie paused and looked at the ring then up to Nik, "Is this a proposal?" "Yes Alfie, Will you marry me?" "Yes...yes I will, I promise you we will stay together unit the end of time."
They kiss passionately, neither of them willing to let go of the other for fear that maybe they won't get another chance. Then they separate, breathing heavily, staring into each other's eyes, smiling and laughing, Nik grabs Alfie's hand and gently glides the ring onto the smaller man's finger. Alfie stares at Nik, admiring every feature on his face, "Nikola Solomon, hmmm... it kind of fits" Nik snorts. "It does" Alfie smiles.
