Wisps of shadow dance from the darker monkeys finger tips as his yellow friend watched from beside him. The two were shrouded in night darkness at the edge of a cliff, stretching the shadows to the ground below.
"Mac!" The yellow monkey shakes the other, almost causing the shadow magic to break. "Maccccc." A grin forms on Macaque's mouth as he forms his shadows into a scarier form below, messing with one of the baby monkeys who haven't gone to sleep yet. Another hard shake from the other monkey got him to answer. "What Wukong? They're gonna find out its me if you keep shaking me like that." The yellow monkeys eyes are shining under the moonlight and in awe at the shadow tricks from his friend. "Do something really big, oo like a tiger that'll scare Berry to bed. Do it, do it right nowwww."
The two young monkeys then giggled to themselves as they watched baby Berry run in circles, fur fluffing, as they continued to fail in escaping the fake shadow tiger. Macaque stretched the shadows to a new tiger form, it's mouth wide with a massive roar, watching Berry scramble their tiny paws back to the nursery nest below. A tug from Wukong and a flash of light magic later they could see that Berry was not going to bed but instead kept peeking their little head and bright eyes out the den entrance to watch more of the purple shadow tiger.
With Wukong affectionately cuddling Macaque from his side, a peaceful quiet had now hung over the two monkeys. Words of "I wish we could stay like this forever." then interrupted the silence. Macaque looked over to his sworn brother surprised at the sudden emotion in his friends sweet tone. Macaque paused the shadows for a second to stare at him curiously and asked, "Why would anything have to change?"
His friends face then softened as he watched the peek of the sun, a faint glow on the horizon of the mountain. "For the same reason Berry was scared. There's real things out there that make sure we don't stay here forever. " The weight of Wukong's words had Macaque unsure how to respond, choosing to gaze at his friends almost sleepy form on his side, thinking about the future they would have forever. Wukong then quickly stood up from his side, Macaque snickering at his new burst of energy. Wukong, tail wagging, then suddenly exclaimed, "that's why when I'm the HEROO of flower fruit mountain," his voice echoing across the clifftop, "I'm gonna live forever so that no one can stop me!"
"Hey!" Macaque giggled and tried to tug the loud monkey back to the ground for another cuddle session by tugging his legs with his tail. "You're gonna wake them all up!" Wukong lightly kicked some dirt in response to Macaques tail trying to sweep him to the ground. "I'm gonna live forever with you too right?" Wukong giggled in response, continuing to jump in place to escape Macaques swinging tail on the ground. "Of course! We'll be together forever."
And with that said, Macaque stood up from the ground and tickled Wukong in the stomach. Loud laughter across the mountain, the tickle fight caused the two monkeys to start a chase back to their home in the waterfall.
Both monkeys would then hope that living forever would be their silent promise for each other for the rest of their lives.
