"SHIT!"
Claire's eyes widened at the shout heard downstairs, her hand traveling quick to the door knob, opening the bathroom door as quick as she could.
"LEON!?" she shouted, eyes gazing hard at the general direction of the stairs. She rushed towards the stairs as the response she awaited did not come, her bare feet banging hard on the threads, left hand blazing down the handrail.
As she reached the lower floor, she made her way to the left towards the kitchen where she had pinpointed it was where the ruckus began. Placing a hand on the door frame, she peeked inside, finding Leon in a frozen pose.
"Leon? The hell's going on-"
Her mouth ceased as he gave her an open palm from behind his back, as if telling her to stop. He began turning towards her extremely slow, barely moving his upper body as his feet were solely responsible for all the motion.
Claire's eyes expected to meet his face but instead of his handsome features, they found a huge, hairy ball of a creature on his face, the thing as still as Leon was.
She squinted her eyes, blinking a few times as if she was zooming in on the half palm-sized spider on his face, quickly realizing it was a tarantula. How it was there or how Leon ended up in that situation in the first place, she had no clue whatsoever.
Oh my God...
What she did know for sure, is that she was merely a push away from breaking down in laughter after processing the whole scenario and noticing the ridiculous mug he was making, like he was giving every fiber of his body to not let the arachnid be aware that he was even there.
He most definitely picked up on her having her little moment of fun as his eyes shot open at her, his pupils jumping between her and the spider violently. Claire took a deep breath in an attempt to recompose herself, exhaling frantically with pursed lips, covering her mouth with her right hand, giving him an open palm herself, signaling him to wait just a tad bit more until she could properly help him.
Getting herself together, she stepped towards the counter, eyes trailing around, trying to find something she could use to extract the behemoth that laid on her boyfriend's face. She stopped at a glass just large enough to fit the creature in, taking it on her right hand.
"Stay still, ok? Imma get him." She said, walking towards Leon.
As she arrived just in front of him, she sat a hand on his shoulder, clutching it lightly. She brought the glass up carefully, aligning the rim to the spider's body, moving it ever so slowly towards Leon's face.
Until…
The tarantula dashed upwards, finding itself now on his hair before stopping again. She let out a small laugh after noticing how Leon's face had relaxed a bit, his mug turning into a fainter grimace.
"Of course it's got a sharp sense."
"Claire, get this thing off me…"
She chuckled. "You're gonna have to lower a bit, handsome."
He complied, lowering his right knee calmly, enough for Claire to comfortably do her part. She once again aligned the glass to the spider, lowering it towards the creature.
And once again, it moved away.
Leon winced as he felt those hairy little legs trail down on the back of his head, finding its way to his nape, the hairs on his body rising at the touch that send a few chills down his spine. He felt its weight stop at his shoulder blade.
"Goddamn-"
"Ssh, I got it this time." Claire said, making her way behind Leon, finding the critter.
Alright you lil' fucker, enough playing games…
One last time Claire got the glass in perfect position, closing the gap between it and the tarantula. Once she managed to get the rim close enough, in a quick move, she trapped the spider, nudging it gently with the sides of the glass in order to get it to make its way to the bottom.
The spider let go of Leon's shirt into the glass, positioning itself where Claire intended for it to be. She moved the glass away swiftly and placed it downwards on the counter, redirecting her attention towards Leon, who let out a sigh in relief.
"Hey, you okay? Big guy got you good there, huh?" She said, giggling.
"That wasn't funny." Leon answered, turning to face her.
"Oh, it was."
"'Cause it wasn't you."
"Exactly."
Leon rolled his eyes at her, unable to keep a half smile from forming on his lips at her response. She was right, after all, and he loved the honesty.
"Hey, at least we got a new pet!" Claire said smiling at him, pointing a thumb towards the glass.
"Claire, there's no way in hell we're keeping that-"
"We don't make the rules. What d'ya wanna name him?"
Leon stared at her in disbelief as she began laughing, wrapping her arms around him, planting a soft kiss on the crook of his neck.
Ugh…
"I fucking hate bugs."
