Work Text:
Someone was going to get hurt, Izuku grumbled to himself as he rolled off his bed far too early in the day. Unfortunately, he knew better than to hope they would go away.
He'd already paid for another week at the campground, and hadn't spoken to anyone since getting here last week. It was probably one of his friends, trying to drag him out of his little hidey-hole yet again.
If Hitoshi, his officious annoyance, came up with yet another list of reasons to go back, he was going to scream.
He yanked the RV door open, green eyes hard with annoyance. "What now?"
It took him only a split second to recognize the crowd of people outside his traveling home. Shinsou Hitoshi, one of his fellow underground heroes known as Mind Blank, was just one member. Todoroki Shouto, aka the Twilight hero Duality was there too. Yamada-sensei, Aizawa-sensei, and Eri finished off the group.
He wanted to bang his head against the doorframe. "Did I forget I made plans again?" He questioned, trying to suppress his annoyance for Eri's sake.
"Uh, here bonebreaker, drink this first." Mind Blank shuffled forward to hand him a cup.
Izuku glanced at it, half wondering how it got in his hand, before shrugging and gulping it down. Oh, he realized, coffee. Good.
"Fucks sake, Atlas! What if that was poisoned? You don't just chug coffee you barbarian." Hitoshi scolded.
Izuku rolled his eyes. "Firstly, I work three jobs, death wishes he could take me. Second, I lived with you for a year, wanna try telling me how bad I am? At least I don't drink it straight from the pot."
Hitoshi sputtered, going red faced. "Whatever, that's not important. We're here to tell you about your new job."
"Bite me." Izuku deadpanned. "I've already got three, thanks, I dont need another one. Try Sero. I heard he's wanting to step back a bit."
Honestly, if fifteen year old him saw twenty-four year old him, he'd freak out. As Deku, he'd defeated All for One, locked Shigaraki up after shooting him with a quirk destroyer, then he went back to Yuuei for his second year. Dropped the name Deku, picked a different one, being Atlas, and overall did his best to be forgotten by the public. He'd gone back to his recluse days, but he couldn't give up heroism. So, he became an Underground hero, bought an RV, got two cats, and two more jobs, just to try and fill the void.
Thankfully, both Box and Bird, his two cats, loved moving around. This way, he wasn't tied down to any one place. He drifted like the nomad he was, and he liked it. He had two cats, two friends, a class full of acquaintances, and his lovely RV. He was fine.
Everything was fine.
"Look, Yuuei wants to start a new class for hero course kids, an analysis class, and you're the best. Come on, Izuku, you already have a teaching license, and your best friends work there!" Hitoshi told him, gesturing between himself and Shouto.
For his part, Shouto kept himself silent. It was clear that he, and their old teachers, had been dragged along on this needless crusade. Eri might have been, but it was more likely she'd heard the adults talking and decided to tag along.
He sighed heavily. They'd been having the same argument ever since Shouto, Hitoshi, and Monoma all got hired at Yuuei going on three years ago. His friends wanted to work with him, but he already did too much. He was fairly certain at this point he was only still alive out of caffeine and spite.
Was he happy about always being overworked? No, of course not. But he had worked hard to keep himself away from the public eye, and Hitoshi wasn't going to ruin that for him. "Thanks, but no thanks. Again, I already have three jobs. I don't need a fourth."
Thats when it happened, Hitoshi pushed Eri forwards. She looked up at him with big, sad, red eyes. "I think you'd be a good teacher, Deku. If you start next school year, you could even be my teacher!"
Ugh, she was starting high school next year, wasn't she? He was so old.
He sighed again. "I'm not living in a dorm." He warned. He liked his home after all. "And, I'm gonna require payment in the form of caffeine."
How was he already regretting this?
Well, at least Eri-chan was happy.
Bye bye sleep.
