Mae knows when Clara comes home to her it means the new job is driving her just a little bit crazy. She knows, but she still smiles when Clara flops into a seat beside her with a huff of frustration. She’s never been good at staying in one place long and Mae knows Clara is itching to get back to what she had done with IRT.
“You know Prentiss is appealing to the Director to get us back… as part of the BAU.”
“What?”
Clara’s eyes snap to her in seconds and Mae laughs softly.
“She didn’t tell you?”
“No… no she didn’t.”
“Probably didn’t want to get your hopes up.”
Mae speaks softly, smiling a little when Clara curls closer and rests her head on Mae’s lap, stroking soft fingers through Clara’s hair.
“So… want to tell me what’s got you all pissed off today?”
“The usual.”
“Barnes really did want to break you, making you her PA.”
“Yeah well, I’m close to breaking point I think.”
Clara mutters and Mae sighs, stroking her hair again softly.
“Clara Anabela Seger, you don’t ever quit.”
“Full name huh?”
“Absolutely.”
Clara’s laugh is soft and she sighs softly.
“I really don’t know what I’d do without you Mae.”
“Go crazy probably.”
Mae teases and delights in Clara’s laughter.
“Yeah, probably.”
Clara admits, sighing softly when Mae’s fingers shift from her hair to her collarbone, shifting to give Mae better access to her neck and collarbones, relaxing slowly under her touch.
“You always make things better.”
“Good, so rest up then we’ll see if I can’t get Garcia to spill what went down with the Director, okay? You got dinner duty.”
