Chapter Text
People don't care for the quirkless.
I'm 14 years old and have lived my whole life quirkless. People would treat me less than human. They would hurt me, I can't catch a break anywhere I go. The teachers at school don't care, they turn a blind eye to the bullying. My mother could care less about me, she only does the bare minimum for me. She works day and night to provide for me, and for that I am thankful.
I have endured a lot over 10 years of being diagnosed as quirkless. The bullying gets worse around the end of the year.
—-
I'm in class, looking out the window. The teacher extends his arm and hits me on the head. My attention is moved from the outside to the classroom. The students start laughing.
'I feel like an idiot… Why is it like this?' I thought.
The bell rang for the end of the day.
I was getting my notebooks packed when someone walks up to me.
"What do we have here?" A familiar voice asked condescendingly.
I look up and see Kachan and his 'friends'. I look back down and try to put my notebook in my bag. Kachan snaches my notebook.
"What is this? 'Analysis for the future'?" Kachans 'friends’ start laughing.
'Why does this happen to me?' I thought.
"Give it back," I say.
"Is Deku gaining an attitude?" One of them said.
Kachans then throws my notebook out the window but not before he uses his quirk to explode my notebook.
I look at him with terror in my eyes, he looks back with rage and anger in his. He starts to walk away, then he says something that would change my life.
"If you want a quirk so badly, there just might be another way. Pray to have a quirk in your next life and take a swan dive off the roof of the building!" He says leaving with his 'friends'.
I'm facing the now-closed door. I'm shaking.
'Why would he say that?!' I thought.
I'm walking down to the koi pond and look at my now burned notebook. I pick it up from the pond and start my way home. When I was attacked by the sludge villain.
'I can't breathe!! It burns!! Why does this happen to me?' I think as I'm slowly going unconscious.
Just as I'm about to pass out, something gets the sludge away from me.
I pass out.
I wake up in the pathway and someone slapping my face. I start realizing what's going on. I then notice that it's All Might!
"Ahhh!!" I yell.
"Oh, thought we lost you there!" He said voice booming.
After all of that…
I'm on the roof with All Might explaining his injury. I then ask the question.
"Can I become a hero without a quirk?" I ask, looking down and fiddling with my fingers.
"No, I don't think you can become a hero without a quirk! You could become a police officer, they get a bad rep but it's still honorable." He says not sounding the least bit empathetic.
"Oh.." Was the only response that I could muster.
He leaves me, with me on the roof. I sigh, what else was I expecting? I then felt a warm trickle down my cheeks. I was crying.
'Why am I crying? I should be used to this by now?' I thought.
I walk over to the edge of the roof. Looking down, I see smoke farther away. I don't remember going down the stairs and walking towards the smoke. Once I realize where I am, I'm in the crowd watching as the heroes are doing nothing to help the kid in the sludge.
'Wait, sludge? This is my fault I was the one that clung to All Might and made him drop the villain! Is that kid… Kachan!!' I thought.
I assess the situation, there's fire in the houses, the heroes are doing nothing to help Kachan, and All Might is out of time. I need to help him. One moment I was in the crowd, the next I was running into the scene. I throw my backpack at the sludge, it is hurt and moved to let Kachan breathe.
"What the hell are you doing Deku?!" Kachans yells.
"I don't know!" I said. But I know exactly what I was doing. I was saving him.
The sludge was about to attack me then All Might showed up. And beat the villain.
I was lying on the ground.
After a few minutes of calming down. I was then yelled at by the heroes.
"That was so reckless of you! You are so ignorant!!" They were yelling.
"But you weren't doing anything to help…" I muttered.
"What did you say?" One of the heroes asked angrily.
"I didn't say anything.." I said a little louder for the heroes to hear.
"Whatever, just get out of here!" Another one yelled.
I got up and walked away. I was walking past an alleyway when I saw someone in there. I stopped and looked into the alleyway. Someone was hurt!
I ran into the alleyway. I stopped in front of them. They looked, male. The man was slumped on the wall and clutching his side. I think he was stabbed, by the amount of blood that was on his clothes.
"Are you ok?!" I basically yell.
"Don't yell!!" The male yelled back.
I kneeled and took my backpack off. I was looking for my first aid kit (With all of my injuries I have started to learn first aid). I found it and pulled it out. And looked at the man. He looked bewildered like this has never happened before.
"Here, if it's ok, I'm going to apply pressure to the wound.." I say a little quieter.
The man didn't protest or say anything for that matter. So I his silence as a yes. I pulled a cloth out of my bag and moved to touch the man. Then I applied pressure, for a few seconds then the man shoved my hand away. I noticed that he didn't touch me with all his fingers.
"That hurts damn it!" The man yelled.
"Well, you did get stabbed.." I said.
"Whatever! Just leave!" The man yelled again.
I looked at the state the man was in. And decided that I was not going to leave.
"No, you're injured! I'm not leaving!" I yelled back.
"If you don't leave, I'll kill you!" The man spat.
"Then kill me, I'm not leaving you alone to die!" I yelled, with unwavering determination.
"Whatever… just don't say anything!" The man said not yelling.
"Ok," I said.
"That was talking!!" The man said, like a child.
Wait, he was acting a bit like a child. Was he hurt to the point that he was mentally de-aged?
I moved my hand back and applied pressure.
'I wonder why he's letting me do this? He seems to be a villain.' I thought.
I was looking at the wound and noticed that it was a deep cut. I started to panic.
"C-can you hold this?" I ask.
"Whatever, I knew you were going to leave!" He yelled.
But when he noticed that I was still sitting, he was confused.
"I'm grabbing the needle to stitch your wound.." I said.
"Wait, what. You probably don't even know how to stitch someone! What makes you think that you can do it to me!" The man yells.
"I have experience with stitching.." I said almost a whisper but loud enough to where the man could hear.
"Wait, you have stitched someone before?" The man asked.
"Y-yes.." I said.
I found the needle and thread. Then I looked at the man, he looked like this is not normal.
"Are you ok with me stitching you?" I ask.
"It's not like I have a choice.." He huffs.
I send a reassuring smile. He seems to get more tense at that. I need to focus.
I prick his skin, I can tell he's trying to stay as still as he can. But he's still moving. I give him a piece of cloth for him to bite on. He is growling in pain, with the cloth in his mouth.
After a few minutes. I was done stitching the man up. My hands are covered in blood. Once I was done, my hands start shaking. I look up at the man to see the man in pain. I go back to my first aid kit and get pain pills. I give the pills to him.
"Why are you doing this, I'm a villain!" He said.
"Because you're a person, not anything less!" I said back.
He turned pale. Like this has never been said before.
"Leave me alone!!" He said, sounding like he was on the verge of tears.
"Ok… but I will leave the pills here," I said.
I stand up and begin to walk away. The man still looks like he was contemplating life.
