"Am I good enough?" Cross had asked Nightmare.
"Of course love" Nightmare answered back, "What makes you feel this way, my darling?"
Cross turns in their shared bed to face Nightmare, tears pooling their eyes. Nightmare was quick to hug them and wipe away their tears.
"I feel like in the end I'm going to lose everything and everyone, I'm so lost without you Nightlight"
Nightmare smiles at them and gives them a kiss on their forehead before saying- "And I would be so lost without you, beloved. You're so bright and lovely that I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I lost you. The most I know is that I would miss you dearly. I love you so much my dear, please don't cry."
Cross starts to cry, though this time it's tears of happiness rather than sad. They smile at Nightmare and the close their eyes, slowly drifting off to sleep, but not before saying:
"I love you so much, Nightmare."
"I love you too, Cross."
