Beryl felt a tightness in her chest when Xenon turned his back on her and began to walk away.
She couldn’t tell if it was supposed to be anger. She couldn’t tell if she was supposed to feel anger. All she knew now, as she sat in a smoldering pile of broken parts, waiting for her systems to repair themselves once more, was that she didn’t want him to leave.
Even though they’d just fight again, until one or the other was destroyed.
It would be so much easier if Xenon would just come back to the lab. With her.
