Since she finally got closer with the others Stellaron Hunters, Silver Wolf would not frail in asking someone to play some games with her. Every single members did not escaped her nagging to play a party and denied her request, and not even he, seemed to safe from her "gamer wrath".
From all of the Stellaron Hunters, Blade was the least one to think as a potential playmate. Althought that he possess a phone (which he rarely uses it and if it happen, he only text not less than three words), Blade only see it as a tool of communication. He was quite perplexed to see that this single piece of technology could absord the entire time of a day for humans on it .
For Silver Wolf, being chronically online was as normal as breathing air...
We could use to think that it was Silver Wolf, who made Blade play some match games with her. The truth is, that it was no other one but Blade himself, who got dragged himself in the "gaming wrath"... But at what cost.
It all started when he misclicked on an advertisement for a downloadable video game. Clueless to ask anyone how to remove it, he was soon falling in the rabbit hole of the terrible mischievous game advertisement. First, he didn't understood the concept. There was a 3 Dimension materialized space inside his phonescreen, with what it seemed to be three tracks of train rails, and a character painting on a wagon.
Somehow, looking at the little character drawing grafitti made him think of Silver Wolf, who also had a hobby of draing graffiti anywhere she would go. That's how he got his first clue in solving this issue. He kept his phone close to his chest, in fear that anyone would peak an eye on what Blade do on his phone in his free time, and roamed the entire headquarter to find a certain short ang grey haired girl.
When he arrived in the common room, only one person was resting on the old sofa. A loud noise of clicking notes resonated. He approached her.
" Silver Wolf "
The girl didn't turned her head to look at the person wh owas talking to him, she just simply replied.
" Kinda busy right now "
" You do this everyday, you're not busy "
She finally unglued her eyes off her screen.
" What do you want ? Is it another problem with your phone ? "
Blade looked at his phone before showing it to her.
" How do you activate this ? "
Blade suddenly realized the words he has just said now. He originally wanted to ask for how to leave this screen. But when he stared at Silver Wolf, her drownsiness was quickly replaced by a taint of excitement.
Silver Wolf looked closely.
" That's not a function, that's a video game. But here, you just have to click to start it "
As she tapped the screen, a music started playing in the background and Blade started to scrutinize the room around him. He layed his eyes on the phonograph, posing in the corner of the common room, thinking the music got activated by the phone. But the phonograph was not even turned on.
" It's a simple game, you need to avoid the guard chasing you and not hit the obstacles, you can jump and slide by doing this "
She gently grabbed Blade's phone entirely and as she played, he looked at her, manoeuvering. With simple fingers gestures, the little character switched either on left or right on the three rails tracks. When Silver Wolf slid her finger up , the character would jump. Some items that seemed to be golden coins, were able to be collected as the character would run through it.
Then Silver Wolf stopped swipping on the screen and let on purpose the character hit an obstacle and get knocked out. Blade thought that it was just another stupid game until another character showed up and caught the little character in sneakers.
" Why did you do that ? The little guy just wanted to paint "
" If you knock too much obstacles, you will slow down and get caught up by the guard, and then you loose "
" Outrageous... Mind if you pass my phone back "
Silver Wolf handed him his phone and Blade examinated the screen.
" How do you... Restart it ? "
Silver Wolf's expression changed, her eyes went widder.
" Just... Click on that circled arrow "
The screen changed back to the first scene, where the graffiti man was painting on the wagons, Blade tapped the screen, and the same music looped once more.
" I won't let him get caught again "
Silver Wolf couldn't take his serious tone and giggled. Blade climbed over the couch where he was standing behind and jumped on the seat to rest more pratically while playing. He could felt that Silver Wolf has been watching him intensly. He couldn't but feel a bit overwhelmed from her glare. He looked at her.
" Do... You want to play ?
Silver Wolf eyes sparkled : " Together ? Why not ! The one who get the highest score win ! "
" Score ? "
Silver Wolf raised a finger to the upper right corner of Blade's phone, indicating a number that was increasing.
" That's the score, the more you get coins, the higher it is. There are bonus items in the way that duplicate your score, the number stop growing when you get caught by the guard. So ? Wanna play with me ? "
" Deal " he replied.
Silver Wolf sat next to him and opened an app which was the very same game as the one Blade was currently playing. She waited for him to finish until they start the firs round.
" On the count of three, we start. One... two... Three ! "
After the countdown, the two Stellaron Hunters were focusing playing a rivalous match game. Knowing that Silver Wolf has definitely some experiences in video games, it made Blade sometimes peek an eye on her screen to look at her progress.
Indeed, Silver Wolf's fingers moves were much less superfluous and fast. He could see that her focus has greatly increased and her eyes were absorbed by the screen, reflecting the game. He compared his screen to hers. Even if they were going at the same speed, Silver Wolf's score was much higher than Blade's. As a beginner, Blade failed many rounds. But the more he played, the longer he would stay on the tracks, and get much more further than before.
Yet the monotomie of the game's concept quickly gave rise to boredom. At the end, they played around 45 matches, the 44 ones being trials for Blade. They finally compared their scores.
" 7.489.354 !! Not bad !" claimed Silver Wolf. " Too bad, you're just 4 millions point away from mine ! "
Blade rubbed his eyes and looked at her, slighty offensed.
" How do you manage to keep your eyes open for that long ? This is torture "
" Puh ! This is not even one of my best score, once, I hit 194.578.477 ! "
Blade dropped his head on the sofa's back and contented himself to watch Silver celebrating her little victory.
" You look bored of it, want to play another game ? "
" If it's about catching ridiculous golden coins again, I rather go scratch myself in my scheduled sword training " he said as he stood up from the couch.
" What about fighting video games ? "
Blade stood, and didn't moved further.
" There are fighting video games ? Care to explain ? "
From this question, were words he never thought he would regret one day, in the distant futrue. It was enough to make Silver Wolf drag him for good in the depth of her gaming pit hole. After that, they proceeded to test every fighing games Silver Wolf owned, and each of them, was more tempting than the other ! Blade found intriguing that each game had their own system of fighitn and controls. Differents goals, various enemies, strenght building and scaling. To be say. It was addictive.
And even if he poured his entire focus and soul in it, he never managed to beat Silver Wolf. He was perhaps good at fighting, but very bad at beating pixels.
They played Street Fighters, Super Smash Bros, Tekken, Guilty Gear, Metal Gear Solid, Mortal Combat, Bayonetta, Dark Souls, COD... And so many more.
In a total of 38 video games. Blade lost against Silver Wolf.
At 38 of them.
Each.
Single.
One.
Of course it took them quite a whole month, waiting for Blade to get better. Obviously, the training never paid off. Blade has met many defeats in his long life, but he never lost that many battles. Finally, the man has given up on becoming a better gamer. The controls of the joysticks were perhaps not meant to be a skill that could be sharpened in his range of capability.
He had to face it. His hands were and will always belong to the blood and the iron. Real bloodshed.
And this is the story, ladies and gentlemen, on why Blade avoids Silver Wolf with her gaming duels.
