Chapter Text
You sat aimlessly on the floor of your bedroom, slumped against the side of your bed with your head in your hands. It had been a long, overstimulating day, and although you typically tried to push aside your insecurities, you couldn’t help but feel horrible about yourself. As much as you hated to admit it, it was rough seeing all the perfectly skinny girls every day on campus.
Your hands drifted down towards your stomach, the biggest source of your discomfort with your body. You looked at your pudgy body with a certain disdain in your gaze.
Why do I look so horrendous?
You then looked down at your thighs and legs, which were much too big for your liking. They weren’t small and dainty like your classmates. You felt like a whale. Suddenly your emotions began to overwhelm you, and a wave of sorrow crashed down on you. Tears pricked at your eyes which were now turning a light shade of red, and your nose began to run.
“Babyy~ I’m home!” You jolted up in your seat as you heard the warm voice coming from your partner, Peter. Fuck, you thought, trying to wipe your eyes as quickly as you could. You heard gentle footsteps make their way to the bedroom door, and you aggressively wiped your nose with your sleeve. Giving a sharp look of disgust to the wet streak left across your sleeve, you quickly pointed your face towards the bedroom door. “Hey (y/) I missed you so much,” Peter said, face flush red from swinging all the way home. He instantly knelt down next to you to embrace you.
“Hey my sweet girl, I missed you all day,” He said, nuzzling his face into the crook of your neck. “Hi Peter..” You managed to croak out, voice shaky.
Damnit now he definitely knows something is wrong…
Instantly Peter put both of his hands on the sides of your face, and turned your head to face him. He looked you over for a minute, seeing your puffy red eyes and your running nose. “(Y/n), is something going on? You know you can tell me anything,” He murmured, voice gentle and dripping with affection. One of his hands transferred to your back, rubbing it in slow circles.
Your eyes glanced over him, taking in how athletic and chiseled he was. It felt so embarrassing, to look the way you do and date someone like him. You took a deep breath in, considering if you should really tell him how you were feeling. Your gaze then drifted back to his face, and you couldn’t help but melt.
“I hate how I look. I hate being fat. And I feel like I’m an embarrassment to you, you’re so muscular and attractive and I’m… I’m just not like you…” You blurted out, eyes feeling hot as you were on the brink of tears again, barely able to stifle your sobs.
Peter paused for a moment, looking down at the tan carpet that covered the bedroom floor, before turning his gaze steadily back onto you.
“(Y/n), my love, you are the most beautiful girl I have ever laid my eyes on. Who cares if you’re like me? I didn’t ask you to be my girlfriend because I wanted someone like me.”
He paused, taking a breath before continuing his spiel, “I know me telling you this isn’t going to make your insecurities disappear, but truly I love everything about you. And your features are so pretty, like pretty to the point I get all red and stumble over my words.” He said, cheeks dusted pink from slight embarrassment.
You looked at Peter with wide eyes, scooting closer to him and breathing in his scent. Which was slightly musky considering he got back from patrolling the city. “Thank you Pete,” you breathed out, enjoying his closeness as he snaked an arm around your waist, pulling you close and giving you a brief peck on the head.
“Now, how about I make us dinner? I’m starved!” He exclaimed, a goofy grin plastered on his face as he looked at you with bright eyes. You looked up to meet his gaze, “Sounds amazing, just don’t burn the kitchen down okay? Also change out of your suit.” You said with an equally goofy smile. “Hey, I’m not you, you don’t need to worry about a thing, love,” He said, rolling his eyes as he searched for some casual clothes.
As Peter changed into a crisp white t-shirt and some gray sweats, you leaned your head back against the side of your bed.
Man, I am really lucky to have this boy in my life.
