Laying under a beach umbrella, Jill kept herself upright, despite her cheap, low-to-the-ground-foldable-beach-chair lacking a headrest.

Her head slouched back, absorbing the shade of the umbrella, rather than the sun.

She even wore sunglasses whilst planted firmly, hugging the umbrella’s pole. She thought people would find it odd, but she didn’t care.

This was the brightest place she’d ever been. Every time she’d adjust her sunglasses, she felt herself go blind.

Jill had dressed rather casually, bumming it on the beach, versus running along the beach and being cooled off by the Gulf of Parita’s pacific waves.

Wearing a one piece swimsuit of complex colors, with swim trunks on since Jill lacked some confidence, accompanied by a nice, pink button up that kept her shoulders covered.

Pondering the expense it took to get here was keeping her anxious, as she found it difficult to relax, among other thoughts.

Like, how was Fore doing? Was Gillian taking good care of him? Has he wandered off from her boss's apartment while Gil is sound asleep, searching for Jill? Has he gone to form a new cat co-

“Jill!” a voice chanted her name, sounding winded as it got closer.

Jill would turn to the direction of said voice, to find her boss approaching her.

Taking her hand and raising her sunglasses slowly, she’d become enamored by Dana’s… everything.

The sweat running down Dana’s toned stomach as she wore a bikini, with a Hawaiian shirt on.

Jill felt blinded again, but this time it wasn’t due to the sun.

She suddenly remembered the conditions of this trip. It wasn’t just a getaway after a successful season at the bar.

It was one of the things she was actively attempting to keep tucked away in her subconscious, but simply couldn’t. This was a date!

Jill blushed, bashfully turning around as she let go of her sunglasses, pushing them onto her face with left hand’s pointer and middle.

Dana was a little confused, but continued her approach.

“Jill?” she asked aloud.

“Wh-what? Huh?” Jill turned attentively, facing her boss- agh. No.

Jill shook her head lightly;  Facing Dana , there was no need to be so formal anymore. Second base had been crossed during new years.

However, to Jill it felt like-

“Earth to Jill, you doing okay?”

Jill looked up, blinking at Dana.

“Y-yeah. Sorry.” Jill replied, shyly.

“It’s the heat getting to me, I’m not used to it.” Jill followed up.

“Right…” Dana sighed.

“I found you your beer, by the-” Dana’s sentence was cut off by a Jill Stingray who rapidly shifted her position, and was now attentively looking at her boss.

Looking up at Dana like a needy cat, Dana awkwardly smiled, reaching into the bag she’d been carrying on her shoulder, handing Jill her cheap beer.

Jill took the beer, adjusting and sinking back into her beach chair.

“The sign at the entrance to the beach said no public drinking, yet the gas station is *right* there…” Dana pondered aloud.

“You aren’t a narc’, are you boss?” FUCK. Jill thought to herself.

When’re you going to abandon the formalities you-

“I bought myself a couple too. They don’t sell Kiririn here.” Dana replied.

“Oh, cool.” Jill replied, cracking open her beer and taking a sip.

Dana sank into a beach chair, that was instead out in the sun, rather than under the safety of the umbrella shade.

Jill turned and looked over, starting a conversation; “You’re gonna crisp up out there, come sit under here with me.”

Jill then turned to look out at the sea, with Dana replying;

“I have sunscreen on.”

“Yeah but this is like DEATH-RAY sunlight, not crappy rock beach Glitch City sunlight.” Jill replied, expressing her disdain for the heat.

“I’ll live, ‘ Shadowmaster69…’ .” Dana replied.

“Wh-Who told you that?” Jill asked aloud, in a badgering, shocked tone, turning to look at Dana, who’d be looking out at the ocean.

“Nobody.” Dana quickly replied.

Jill wore a scowl, turning back to look at the sea.

“Anyway, you gotta’ get outta’ there, Jill.” Dana said aloud.

“Get out of where?” Jill questioned.

“The safety of that umbrella, you’ve been under there since I put the friggin’ thing up!” Dana expressed herself loudly, replying.

“I would burn- no- I would literally fry in place if I left this umbrella.” Jill replied, standing her ground.

“C’mon hon, entertain me a little…” Dana pleaded aloud.

“H-ho-” Jill muttered to herself. Hearing that made her flush. Jill gulped.

Jill stood up, placing her beer in the sand.

Picking up the chair, she moved it somewhat closer to Dana, but with only one leg exposed to the sunlight, with the rest of her body still kept mostly shaded.

Picking her beer back up after what felt like a taxing movement, Jill slouched back into her chair, sinking into the sand.

“There. Happy?”

“Close enough.” Dana replied, sighing.

The two of them sat there, admiring the ocean and its endless blue.

“Did you know, if you hopped in a boat and kept going, the next place you’d end up is Colombia?” Dana asked aloud, sounding quizzical.

“What’re you, majoring in geography now?” Jill replied, jabbing lightly in her words.

“Very cute.” Dana replied.

“Are you doing okay?” she asked.

“Who, me?” Jill replied. “I’m great.”

“...”

Jill heard shuffling beside her, with Dana’s chair now right against Jill’s.

Jill looked over, as Dana took up all of her left-side.

Dana then sank into her chair, and planted her right hand on top of Jill’s left.

Jill felt queasy, and turned away bashfully. Dana leaned over, gently holding Jill’s chin, turning her face to look at her.

To Jill’s surprise, Dana would peck her on the lips.

“Mmmh?” Jill questioned mumbly, as her lips locked with Dana’s briefly.

“Stop being so tense.” Dana said aloud, close to Jill’s face.

Jill’s expression went soft, as she admired Dana’s forwardness, and her face.

“We’re here to get away, to decompress. Melt in the sun, together.” Dana confidently said. “You’ve looked like an anxious wreck since we’ve landed.”

“I-...” Jill gulped.

“...I’m just-”

Dana was patient. She let Jill collect herself, as she attentively looked into Jill’s eyes, with Jill doing the same, trying to keep herself focused.

“I don’t wanna fuck this up.” Jill replied, after a pause.

Dana chuckled; “I know you don’t, but you simply can’t.”

“I… can’t?” Jill questioned.

Dana wrapped her fingers, interlocking them with Jill’s held hand, standing up. Jill of course, stood up with her.

Dana encouraged Jill, with her body language, to follow her.

Jill sighed lightly, deciding to do so, as Dana walked her away from their spot, and along the beach.

Walking down the beach, the two of them kept near the more damp sand, as their toes sank into it with every step.

They’d look out to their side, admiring the ocean more, letting the breeze cool them as they wandered further and further down the beach.

One gust of wind blew Jill’s pigtails intensely. Dana stopped for a moment, turning to Jill, shifting to step in front of her.

Dana then reached and took Jill’s scrunchy’s out of her hair, guiding her hair down as it fell undone onto Jill’s back, and shoulders.

Dana parted Jill’s hair with her hand, and held her cheek, smiling.

Jill looked up, enamored and lost in Dana’s gaze.

The scrunchy’s hit the ground- as Jill shifted her body up. She wanted to be forward this time.

Jill locked lips with Dana, as the sun slowly set next to them. With their tongues dancing in one another's mouth, it was heavenly.

Dana gripped the back of Jill’s head, keeping their lips locked together, as Jill would wrap her arms over Dana’s shoulders, keeping herself close to Dana.

Unlocking the kiss, they’d slowly pull away from one another, gazing into one another's eyes deeply.

They then continued their walk down the beach, while the tint of the outdoors turned a rich orangish color, with the sun reflecting off of the ocean.

Dana would stop, and turn to face the ocean, with Jill following along, as they’d kept their hands held the entire time they’d been walking down the beach.

Looking out, Jill felt herself become overwhelmed with emotion.

She clutched Dana’s hand, gripping it tightly, as a tear ran down her face.

Dana then turned to look at Jill, as Jill sniffled loudly.

“What’s wrong?” Dana asked aloud.

“I-I’m sorry. I’m having a pathetic moment and ruining o-our-”

Dana turned fully, looking at Jill; “It’s okay. You can be honest.”

Jill turned attentively to Dana; “I just- remembered something and got scared.”

“Lenore, we uh… we went to a beach as one of our dates and did exactly this.”

“A-and the memory came back. It conflicted with how I feel now and I-”

Jill’s tangent was stopped by Dana leaning in, and embracing Jill, hugging her tightly.

Jill returned the hug, as she sniffled into Dana’s shirt.

Wiping her face, she pushed herself off Dana gently, looking at her.

Dana smiled; “I get it.”

“It’s hard to relive some experiences, especially with someone else.”

“I want you to make new memories with me, though. Without entirely forgetting about Lenore…”

“I uh-...” Dana paused briefly, she was thinking of how to word herself.

“I want- I don’t want to replace Lenore in your heart, but I want to help you heal by doing things with you, that you and her likely have done.”

“Ah- that probably sounds weird. Sorry.” Dana said aloud, rethinking her words. She was dancing in circles trying to get it out.

“I-I want to be y-y-you’re uh…” Dana decided she’d attempt to be forward, but was fumbling in front of Jill.

Jill then giggled.

Which slowly turned into laughter.

“Wh-what?” Dana asked coyly, a little confused.

“Sorry- I just thought that was cute…” Jill replied, sounding a little more confident in herself.

“All this time I’d been nervous as shit. And here you are, in the same boat as me. I didn’t think you’d been in control just to cover your anxiety.”

“Ehehe~...” Dana chuckled.

Jill smiled. Looking down at their hands, she interlocked her fingers and held both of Dana’s hands. Leaning up, she’d peck Dana on the lips.

“I want you to be ‘that’, too.” Jill said, closing the distance somewhat to rest her head on Dana’s chest.

Dana smiled, looking down at Jill. She held the back of Jill’s head, rubbing it, as she leaned down to kiss the top of Jill’s head.

They then stood there, letting the sun go down, as they’d embrace one another against the Panama sunset.
