Work Text:
Donghyuck is scared. To say the least. Terrified is probably a better word for it. He’s walking alone at 11.34 pm precisely. The world is not dead yet and he cannot say it’s alive either but it seems like the night is dancing in the middle of the line, especially the area he is walking right now. The stores obviously closed despite it being the weekend but humans still need their rest. Lamp posts are barely holding it together with the way it flickers every now and then. Donghyuck wouldn’t be surprised about that since their town management never really cares about it. The weather is not helping with the situation either, it’s not cold but it’s chilly as Donghyuck wraps his cardigan tighter to his body. It could be the start of a horror movie set in the situation Donghyuck is currently facing.
Or worse, a crime. Donghyuck is not afraid of ghosts or supernatural related but criminals? Yeah, he would stay away from them. There ain’t no way he’s opening a chance for himself to get robbed.
The chill in the night is sharp to his bones and Donghyuck curses under his breath as he fastens his walking speed. What actually got him into this situation, you might ask?
Donghyuck is walking home from his tutoring job. A part-time job he does on the weekends for parents who want their kids to be tutored (slash babysitting because some parents thought the job scope he puts up online includes him babysitting their bratty children but oh well, Donghyuck could do some extra money). The money is enough for him to have separate savings apart from his job if he wants to buy anything fancy for his boyfriend and has a little candlelight dinner with expensive food but small portions at high-end hotels.
The incentives Mark receives from the government for his hero work and other insurance stuff that Donghyuck would rather not let himself put his nose into it is actually enough to cover a few of their living expenses basics but Donghyuck doesn’t want to burden Mark with anything. Even though Mark, his sweet spiderman is definitely ok with anything. He wouldn’t even dare to call it a burden either.
Donghyuck likes to be independent.
The parents of the kid that he tutored today told him that they could drive Donghyuck home but he declined saying he’d want to walk and make a stop at a 24 hour store for a moment to stock up some groceries. Though now he feels regret crawling in him not taking up the offer.
Someone has been following him for at least 2 blocks now. Donghyuck counted and he would have to endure 2 more blocks to reach his apartment but he does not know if he could make it there safe and sound. Not without this person, this stalker following him. In his hand, holds a set of keys with the sharpest point for caution. He doesn’t dare to turn around and look. Of course not, he’s a person with common sense and his boyfriend is a superhero who has taught him ways to get to safety.
Alright first, he needs to keep his calm and that’s done. He is calm on his exterior even though his insides churn in nervousness. Second, pay attention. Donghyuck put all of his five senses on their highest level. His eyes and ears especially. His eyes are busy to find something he could make use of or someone and his ears are busy listening to the person behind him.
But that’s the weirdest part! He doesn’t hear anything. He does not hear any footsteps or hint of any sounds rustling behind him that suggest someone is following him.
But someone IS following him. He can feel someone watching him. The back of his head burns with their stares. He knows. Donghyuck knows. He trusts his guts and instincts and it’s better to keep safe.
Back to his precautions, the third step is to go to where people are. That’s a cross-out. There’s almost no one here. But Donghyuck could make out another 24 hour store across the way. It’s still a bit far but Donghyuck thinks he could make it if he can outrun the stalker. He prays they can’t really run that fast.
Fourth, grab your phone and call the police. No. Call his boyfriend. Donghyuck trusts his boyfriend more than anyone (he also had a beef with the NYPD ever since that incident happened). He grabs his phone in his pocket with his other hand (the one not occupied with the keys) and hastily locks the phone.
A close-up picture of his boyfriend, Mark sleeping greets him. It was a cute picture. Donghyuck took it secretly and Mark doesn’t know it until now.
He punches the caller button and taps 1 for his emergency dial. The screen switches fast to him calling one of his contact, my spidermarkie <3
Directing the device to his ear, Donghyuck waits for the line to pick up before he hears a familiar ringtone in the distance. In a distance as in not on the ground behind him but right above him?!
Donghyuck looked up and met with a sharp black-and-white masked eyes, no mouth and red and blue colors decorated the suit with red dominating most of it. Feet plastered to the wall. One hand on the wall to stick himself through the tip of his fingers and one hand hastily trying to turn off his phone. Though Donghyuck can't really see the masked figure's expression, he knows the person behind it is frowning at the caught in the act just because of his phone.
It was dark since there is no light on the wall but Donghyuck knows damn well who that is.
"What the hell?!" Donghyuck yells.
The figure crawls down until the ground is under his feet and he is standing in front of Donghyuck.
"Sorry." The voice came out sheepishly.
"What the hell are you trying to do creeping up on me like that?! I was scared, you idiot!"
"I am so sorry." The sentence drags out as he steps into Donghyuck's personal space and hugs him tight.
"I thought you were a stalker, you damn… spiderman!" Donghyuck almost yells out Mark's real name but luckily he is fast enough not to draw the name out of his mouth. Even if there's no one else around them but eyes are everywhere. Another thing Mark taught him.
"I'm sorry bub, I won't do it again. I promise. Pinky promise." Mark brings his gloved hand, pinky finger to Donghyuck's own pinky and links it together which drags a smile on the latter's lips.
"Let's go home."
"Wha- No!" Before Donghyuck could finish his sentence, Mark tackles him, lifts him off the ground and shoots his web shooter to the nearest pole and swings them away. The hero’s arm tightened around Donghyuck’s waist while the younger boy had both his hands wrapped around the hero’s neck and his legs circling around the waist.
At this point, Donghyuck should have been used to Mark swinging them around. Whether it’s to go on a date, to get to one location fast enough when they don’t have a car for that, or when Mark just wants to have fun with Donghyuck and annoys him. But no, the latter is still not used to it. Gliding smoothly across the air and not screaming. Though now Donghyuck can do it without screaming and just close his eyes and hide his face in Mark’s neck.
In no time, Mark got them to their apartment and entered it using the window. Again.
“You need to stop doing that.” Donghyuck says, wobbling around his feet and trying not to throw up because of the swinging just now.
“I just want us to get home fast.”
“Why would you follow me like that?”
“I just wanted to keep you safe…?”
“With you creeping up on me like that would keep me safe?!”
“I’m sorry! It was wrong of me to do that but at that time, I just thought of what would you do if someone follows you.” Mark pouts, his mask off and is thrown on the floor.
“You did well though. You don’t panic and you keep your eyes and ears open.” He continues.
Donghyuck lets out a deep sigh and strides forward to Mark and hugs him. The latter returns the hug and strokes the fluffy brown hair to calm him down.
“Don’t ever do that again.”
Mark hums before he says, “if it wasn’t for my phone, I don’t think I would get caught.”
Donghyuck lands a punch on Mark’s chest as he storms away from the older boy, stomping his feet and takes his steps to the bathroom to refresh himself. The sound of the door being slammed signals Mark that Donghyuck is in his sulky mood now. Mark chuckles, stepping out of his suit and walks towards the bathroom outside their room.

“Bub, I’m sorry.” Mark slurs as he slides his way into the bed, clinging onto Donghyuck’s body and nuzzling his face on the back of the latter’s neck.
Donghyuck dives further into his thick blanket, pulling it off Mark's side. The incessant, drawn-out "bub" just keeps spilling out from the latter's lips as he tightens his hold around the younger boy's body wrapped around the blanket.
"Get off me!" The muffled sound from inside the blanket voices out.
"Not until you forgive me!"
"Fine." Donghyuck says.
"Turn around." Mark says.
"No." Donghyuck replies.
Mark, not left with a choice, forces his way to turn the other boy around to face him which still resulted in Donghyuck screaming and kicking aimlessly on the bed. Blanket thrown off to the floor.
"I'm sorry." Mark repeats his apology once he is on top of Donghyuck with blushes blooming prettily on top of the apple of his cheeks.
The younger boy throws his head to the side, still pouting at the action of Mark scaring him. Thank god it was Mark! If it was someone else? A real criminal?
"You know I'd come to save you if you were being followed for real." Mark says as if replying to Donghyuck's thought. He snuggles his face in between the latter's neck and shoulder, sniffing at the smell he likes the most after Donghyuck just showered.
Mark really would. Would arrive at the location in a heartbeat when he senses Donghyuck is in trouble. Call it his Mark's tingle.
"I really am sorry, baby." His deep voice whispers into one of his ears as Mark plants kisses all over the side of his neck. The tough exterior crumbled down bit by bit.
"Forgive me?"
"Fine. But you owe me cuddles and kisses now." Donghyuck finally says.
"Wouldn't deny you any of that. I would even add something more." Mark chuckles while his hands make their way down Donghyuck's torso, slipping into the clothes.
"No!"
