Work Text:
Rosamund was sitting at her father's desk bored out of her mind. She was officially done with school, her A-levels were over and she was taking a gap year before going to university.
She and her girlfriend were going to go travelling, competing in competitions in their respective sports while exploring the globe.
Rosamund’s father approved of the trip and as their family was very well off, he offered to pay for them both however they had to earn their own spending money. This is why Rosamund was now slumped over her father's desk.
She was just doodling on a Post-it note when the man in question walked in.
“Last time I checked this was my office?” He smiled.
“I’ve done all my work!” His daughter exclaimed with a bright smile and pointed to a stack of papers. “It’s in alphabetical order and all ready to be filled once you’ve checked it.”
“This was supposed to take you till five o’clock, you know.” He shooed her out of his chair and sat down flicking through the papers.
“I know I know, but I actually put work into it and this is where it got me.”
“And you’re acting so strange why?”
“I wanted to ask-“
“That explains everything then!” He smirked as Rosamund rolled her eyes.
“Thanks, papa, and no all I wanted to ask was can I get off work early?”
With a deadpanned expression he replied. “Nope, not possible.”
“Thanks, papa!” Rosamund exclaimed with a grin, knowing her father's idea of teasing her.
Her father laughed, “Enjoy McDonald's then Ros, I’m guessing you don’t need dinner when you get home?”
“What are we having?”
“It’s me cooking so….. pizza and chips?
“Can you save me a slice, please?”
“Of course!”
“Thanks, papa!l” She replied picking up her helmet, bag and skateboard that she keeps in his office for fear of it getting lost or broken. She left with a wave and walked downstairs and out of the building.
Smiling she crossed the road and entered the park, putting her skateboard down and skating through with expertise after doing it for years. She took the third exit and crossed the road again entering the massive carpark and the building which held the recognisable golden M.
Rosamund looked at her phone and the most recent text messages with her girlfriend, before skating through the empty car park and over to the drive through.
She rode up to the speaker and a voice came through. “Hi, welcome to McDonald’s Drive-Thru.” The cheery voice exclaimed.
“Hi! One cheeseburger please!” Rosamund replied.
“With a large drink and fries?”
“Solo meal only, thank you!”
Rosamund rode away and used her Apple Pay at the pay desk before skating forward to the collection window.
A brown-haired goddess of a woman was standing at the window with beautiful blue eyes waited at the window. She held out a tray with a bag branded with the iconic McDonald’s logo.
It was obvious she was holding back a smirk, similar to Rosamund. Neither said a word, the only communication was a nod of Rosamund’s head before she skated away.
Munching on her cheeseburger, Rosamund rode away smiling. Once finished, she threw the wrapper in the bin before going through the drive-thru once more.
“Hi! One medium fries please!” Without stopping she spoke, repeating the process.
However this time upon reaching the collection window, the server grinned more openly as did Rosamund.
“Thanks again for the food!” She spoke this time, but no reply came before she skated away.
Once more, Rosamund finished her food and made the loop around the carpark and this time ordered a “Large Iced Coffee Original.”
Riding up to the collection window, the server had the coffee held out while containing a smile. Rosamund smiled fully “I got thirsty.” She commented before riding on, unaware of the server leaning out of the window to look on after her with a grin.
Rosamund found herself on a spot on some steps outside the main building, drinking her coffee.
“Ma’am,” a voice from behind spoke causing Rosamund to turn to face it. “Here’s your dessert.” She held a sundae cone in her hand and smiled.
Rosamund stood up and smiled at the server, also known as Delilah, her girlfriend. The wind blew Delilah’s hair out her face while she passed the cone over smiling.
As she took the cone, Rosamund stared at her, with a look of pure adoration and love, she just knew how in love with her girlfriend she is.
“Like your sundae cone, I might melt with your stare” Delilah smirked slightly noticing the look on her partner's face. Before they both burst into laughter.
In one hand, Delilah held Rosamund’s cone. In Rosamund’s one hand, she held her skateboard and helmet. Both had a free hand which they used to hold the others as they walked away.
Delilah held out the cone and Rosamund leaned over to take a bite of the ice cream, only to get some on her nose, causing Delilah to stop, smile, and wipe her nose before kissing it.
“Awww thank you, Lila!”
“Anything for you Ros.” She winked and laughed.
“I love you.” She kisses her cheek.
“I love You more, my amazing server.” They both laughed, “but genuinely how was your shift?”
“I’m starting to think I should bring my bow and arrow to work because today this one lady-“
