Chapter 1: Wait What?

Chapter Text

Where do I start? Huh..well, let’s start from the beginning, about five years ago when my life was in hell.

“Why can’t I do anything, right?” Izuku said while tears started to form. His hands were shaking after being attacked by Bakugou in the middle of class. The teacher stood there and watched as Bakugou attacked him. He continued his lesson after Bakugou was done, not caring that a student was attacked with the full strength of a fire quirk.

Midoriya walked along the alley to his house where he lived with his mother, Inko Midoriya. His father died in a fire, which his mother told him ever since he realized he didn’t have a dad like the other children at the school.

“Hey, nerd!” Bakugou yelled from the opposite side of the alley. “What is it, Kachann?” He said nervously.

“What did I tell you? Don’t call me that!” Bakugou moved forward with a look of deepening anger on his pinched face.

Izuku takes a few steps backward as if he was going to run in the opposite direction. However, when he turned around, he was met with Bakagous minions who were almost too eager to see him.

"Where do you think you’re going, huh?!” one of them told him.

“Nowhere, I swear..I just was..you know, looking behind me,” he said, still shaking in his voice and hands.

“Yeah, right, sure, you think we’re dumb right, huh?!” the other said. Pushing Izuku's shoulders, knocking him back a little.

“No, I don’t! I swear.” Midoriyas hands were raised to show his honesty.

Bakugou approached Izuku's side, suddenly grabbing the front of his shirt.

“Listen here; you freak, you can’t be a fucking Hero. You’re weak and small. You have nothing. You are a nobody. You can’t even make a single friend. How do you expect to protect Japan like this.” Bakugou said, picking up Izukus's flimsy arm and suddenly punching him in the stomach with his explosion quirk.

Bakugou’s minions started to laugh at Izuku. “Like Bakugou said, you don’t have any friends. Your worthless, you piece of shit.” one of them said while chuckling. The other laughed and pointed at Izuku, who was curled up, holding his stomach from Bakugou’s blow.

“You can’t even stand up for yourself, Deku. Look at you. Pathetic.” Bakugou said with almost a pitied laugh in his voice.

“Let’s get out of here, I don’t want to be by this freak any longer,” said Bakugou. He walked down the alley, slowly disappearing.

Izuku was still holding his stomach as a bruise formed under his All Might t-shirt. Tears started to fall down his cheek. “I am a freak. I’m quirkless; I can’t even have a proper job, I’m nothing. I’m a nobody.” Midoriya repeatedly thought in his head.

He started walking towards his house. But he stopped suddenly. Looking up at a tall building near his home. “What if I…no,” Midoriya said quietly.

But he began walking closer to the building. Then suddenly, realizing he was on the top of the roof, staring down at the building from the ledge of the building. Again those words began to creep back into his head. “What if I..” But this time, he finished his words.

“What if I jumped,” He said out loud. A voice came from above him. Not his own, but it was familiar.

The figure floated towards him, landing next to him. “What if you jumped?” said the figure.

Izuku knew he recognized that voice. It was All Might. His favorite Hero ever since he was little. He couldn’t believe his own eyes.

“All Might?” Midoriya said in awe. Still shaking from earlier, he approached him.

“Yes, it is I.” All Might said with utmost confidence.

“I…I want to say what an inspiration you have been to me, you know I’m quirkless, and you make me want to strive for my dreams and be a hero like you!” Izuku said. He was filled with joy and amusement as his favorite Hero stood before him.

“You are a…huh,” All Might chuckled. Almost in a menacing way, however, Izuku shrugged this off.

“Yes, yes I am!” Midoriya said with a nervous chuckle.

“You can’t be Hero. Are you kidding me? And to think…ugh. I gave you that idea. I can’t.” said All Might, but this time with annoyance.

“But…But you said that everyone should strive to be a Hero. I don’t. I don’t understand.” Midoriya said with tears wheeling at the base of his eyelashes.

“Yeah, kid, I did. But not to your kind. You, people, have nothing going for you. You all should live quietly and leave us alone, the better people.” All Might said with a sneer on his proud face.

As Izuku was about to speak, All Might said something he’d never forget, even if he wanted to.

“No, not even live quietly. You know what, you people. You freaks. Should disappear.” said All Might. With a smirk that Izuku had never seen before, not even on the Villains. It was as if All Might wanted the quirkless to die...

“No, no, this isn’t happening. This has to be a nightmare or a dream of some sort,” Izuku thought.

All Might then turned to him. Saying no…telling him to “Jump.”

“...what? I must be mistaken-” he said quietly.

“No, you weren’t. I told you. To jump.” All Might said with no emotion on his face.

Izuku was still on the roof’s ledge and was about to step down when All Might repeated what he said. “I told you to jump.” All Might’s tone was loud and demanding now.

“I don’t think I want to,” Midoriya said with a shaky voice.

“You don’t want to? Why don’t you show a little follow-through, kid? Jump.” All Might said with force this time. Pushing Izuku backward, almost off of the ledge. But he regained his balance quickly. Izuku was breathing heavily at the moment. He didn’t understand why All Might was acting like this. His Hero...no, this wasn’t his...

Izuku was shaking and more afraid than ever. “Please, I just want to get down from here-” Midoriya said, tears falling down his face.

“I’m not suggesting anymore, kid. Jump.” All Might said. This time he pushed him over the edge of the building.

He was falling...falling. He felt the wind on his ears and fingertips. Everything was still. The birds were in slow motion above him, and the look on All Might’s face was…happy? He had pushed him off a building, and his expression was..happy?

Midoriya was chuckling. His once hero had just pushed him off of a roof. For being quirkless. Quirkless? He thought it was the dumbest reason. But here he was, falling down a ten-story building.

He was ready. Ready for every bone in his body to shatter. And to die. He was going to die, and nothing in this world would prevent that.

  *Crack

He was confused, to say the least. Everything went black. He placed his hand on his heart. No, it wasn’t that…he wasn’t dead. He was alive. By some miracle, he was alive. But how?

*Click

There was light. Izuku had difficulty seeing as the light was directly blinding him.

“Hello Izuku,” a voice said…a voice that sounded familiar. It was rough and low, a man's voice. But he couldn’t place it...it just felt like home?
