So Uncool

Summary:

Saga Masamune gets caught being a doting cat dad and proceeds to want to disappear from planet Earth.

Notes:

Blame bearnanas for this, she gave me the idea and we both agreed that saga couldn't have possibly been cool all the time and I had to write it (blame her for the next oneshot too, whenever it comes out lol) just something short and silly with The Boys

Work Text:

Saga Masamune may give off an aloof, uncaring air, but at the end of the day he was still a slightly insecure teenager that cared about his image a little. Just a tiny bit. No more than average. He didn’t care so much about the specifics of his peers’ thoughts, but he didn’t want to look like a total moron in front of them.

That may or may not go double for Oda Ritsu. Or triple.

Not that it was very hard to look cool in front of Ritsu. Ritsu was very easily impressed by his Senpai (which Saga found difficult to distinguish if that was endearing or annoying. Perhaps annoyingly endearing) and Saga no longer planned on shattering that image. It may have been a bit of an ego boost, but Saga also didn’t want Ritsu to see his more lame side and end up liking him a little less. Saga was meant to be the cool, collected upperclassman after all.

There were only two things that put Saga at risk of losing that cool aura.

“You’re just the cutest thing in the whole world, aren’t you?”

The first one was of course Ritsu himself, but Saga had more or less learned how to navigate his emotions and keep himself somewhat in control. At the very least, he managed not to say every embarrassing thought that crossed his mind.

“Meow~!”

The second was cats. Specifically, Sorata.

“Of course, you already knew that, didn’t you?” Saga asked as he held Sorata close, the cat nuzzling his head into Saga’s cheek.

Saga had not recently been meeting his ‘give-Sorata-attention’ quota due to Ritsu’s visits to his home increasing and - well - Saga couldn’t let Ritsu see him like this. He was already being risky by snuggling and cooing to Sorata while Ritsu was off in the bathroom. The cat had gotten into Saga’s lap while he was sitting on the floor and waiting for Ritsu’s return, the movie he hadn’t really been watching on pause. Sorata had proceeded to demand love and Saga had been unable to resist giving in.

“How many kisses do you want to make up for having to share my attention, huh? One?” Saga pressed a kiss to his little head. “Two?” Another innocent peck to his fuzzy forehead.

Sorata meowed and purred loudly, headbutting against Saga’s face, making him chuckle softly.

“Not enough, huh? Needy.” He teased the kitten jokingly before he pressed several little kisses to his head, making the very necessary accompanying kissing noises of course.

Sorata leaned toward his touch, closing his eyes and continuing to purr, practically vibrating in the teen’s hold.

“Such a little baby.” Saga said with affection, scratching Sorata under the chin. “My baby, huh?” He inquired with a soft smile as Sorata melted in his hold, Saga having to basically keep the cat’s head up. “Aw, are you getting so sleepy? My sleepy little guy.”

Sorata yawned as an answer and Saga cooed over the cute sight before he pressed one last longer kiss to his head. “Sorry, I’ve gotta be mean and not let you fall asleep here. You've got to go before Ritsu comes back. I’m gonna make a move and he doesn’t like it when you’re in here when we do that stuff.” He said bluntly, as if the cat could understand him.

Sorata mewed in response, though it wasn’t loud enough to cover a choked sound coming from the doorway. Saga looked over, spotting Ritsu standing there frozen with a red face - clearly having heard Saga’s comment about making a move on him, but Saga could care less about that at this moment. Sorata seemed to take notice of Ritsu as well, opting to wiggle out of Saga’s arms to go over to Ritsu, rub against his leg in greeting, and then trot off. Saga had to fight the urge to cover his face with his now free hands.

“...How long have you been standing there?” Saga asked after a few tense moments of silence.

“Um, f-for a bit.” Ritsu answered, picking at the skin around his fingers nervously, hoping that Saga wasn’t upset with him.

Saga could feel his face getting warm. Fuck, please don’t let me be red right now, I already look so lame! “Why didn’t you say something?”

“Well, you and Sorata were just very c-cute together, I didn’t want to…” Ritsu trailed off as Saga closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose.

God, how could I look so uncool in front of him?! I’m such an idiot! I’m never going to be able to live this down, Saga thought miserably, he saw me kiss Sorata a bunch. And heard me call him my baby. I’m going to die. I should just suffocate myself with my pillow now.

“Um…Senpai?”

Saga couldn’t help but to groan in despair. “This is even worse than when you saw me rescue him…” He mumbled.

Wait, is he…embarrassed? Ritsu thought, surprise and affection overtaking his nerves as he slowly shuffled into the room.  Saga avoided meeting his gaze, his head turned the other way as he tried to will away his flustered feelings. He outwardly ignored Ritsu as he felt him sit down beside him, though on the inside he was hyperaware of where Ritsu was.

“Senpai, you don’t have to feel embarrassed.” Ritsu said, but Saga could hear amusement leaking into his voice.

“I’m not embarrassed.” Saga denied instinctively even though all evidence pointed to the contrary.

Ritsu giggled and although the sound was adorable and not one that Saga was privileged to hear very often, Saga wanted to jump out his bedroom window. Great, he’s laughing at me now.

“I think it’s sweet.” Ritsu said, trying to reassure him.

“It’s not sweet, it's lame…” Saga murmured, still refusing to look at him.

“Of course it’s not.” Ritsu said, not used to being the one not feeling humiliated. Saga was strangely cute when he was like this. “Sorata is your cat, you’re supposed to love him.” He added.

Saga slowly turned his head to face Ritsu, though he suspected his cheeks were still a hint pink. “I didn’t want you to see my uncool side.” He admitted reluctantly.

Ritsu gave a sweet smile. “You don’t have an uncool side, Senpai.”

Saga felt his heart clench in his chest at the sincerity of Ritsu’s words. Ugh what is wrong with him? What is wrong with me? Don’t just throw yourself at him, he already saw you acting like such a dork, have some self control, he lectured himself uselessly as he already found himself leaning forward and stealing a quick kiss. The kiss being so short was not by his own choice though, Ritsu involuntarily flinching backward as he hadn’t been prepared for such a show of affection.

“S-Senpai-!”

“Will you spend the night tonight?”

“Tonight? But, it’s a school night…” Ritsu hesitated.

“Can’t you at least ask your parents?” Saga pressed, his lips finding their way to Ritsu’s cheek, jaw, and eventually his neck.

Ritsu felt himself start to heat up all the way to the tips of his ears. “I-I guess it couldn’t hurt to ask-” He let out a soft ‘oof’ as he soon found himself on his back on the floor. “Senpai, wait a second! I-I need to call my house still!”

“In a minute.” Saga said, coaxing Ritsu’s legs open to kneel between them, already undoing Ritsu’s jacket and going to push up his shirt.

“Senpai!” Ritsu felt dizzy at how quickly things had escalated, not understanding how his Senpai had gone from embarrassed to extremely forward. Ritsu gripped the edge of his shirt with trembling hands as he instinctively started pushing it back down. “Uh, the movie-!” Ritsu reminded him in a last attempt to distract him, but the stupid movie was the last thing on Saga’s mind.

Saga ducked his head down before the skin could be covered and began pressing soft kisses wherever he could reach. Ritsu’s hands made themselves busy by hiding his face instead, swallowing down a whimper that tried to break free.

Cute, Saga thought, reaching up to grip his wrists and pin his hands down beside his head. “I want to see you.” Saga said, making Ritsu squirm a bit as he stared down at Ritsu with affection.

“Senpai, please, this is embarrassing…” Ritsu said, the weight of Saga’s gaze nearly crushing his heart.

Saga smirked a bit at that, planning on embarrassing Ritsu even worse. Hopefully, if he was lucky enough, he’d be embarrassing Ritsu all night.

Sorata, I may have lied when I said you were the cutest thing in the whole world.
