Trust No One.

Summary:

Peter Parker is very naive.

He always has been, thinking that if he followed orders he wouldn't seem to be a burden, or a nuisance. The worst part is, no one tried to lessen this habit of his, as it made him easier to take care of. Even using this bit of his personality as an example for others.

But what they didn't know is how bad this trait would become once it grew and leeched into his mind.

Or, Peter Parker decides to trust the wrong person in a moment of despair.

Chapter Text

Peter Parker was tired, to say the least.

He tried the whole "neighborhood spider-man" thing and while it was amazing to get out there and zip through the busy streets of Queens, he couldn't bear to balance such an action packed job on top of his schoolwork. It seemed easy on paper, but actually focusing on school while having a whole quarter of New York relying on you isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world.

So, when the internship with Tony Freaking Stark arrived, Peter was stoked! He finally had someone who could relate to his vigilante gig and all the troubles that came along with it. Tony was an amazing guy, and Peter saw him almost as a father figure. Peter felt most at home when he was in the lab with Tony, the comfortable silence that rested upon them was enough to let Peter truly feel safe in the billionaire's space.

Plus, it also gave Peter something to look forward to at the end of school. Before, it would just be patrolling as Spider-man, which was emotionally and physically draining on its own. Yet now, Peter could look forward to tinkering with Tony in the lab, whether that be on one of the Iron Man suits or on this new machine Tony had been working on. It was always a surprise when Parker decided to clock in for the internship, which is what made the job so exciting!

So obviously, when Peter started to spend more time around Tony, May began to notice. So did literally anyone who decided to spend time around Peter. Anytime Peter was asked to hangout, he was always busy. People just all of sudden began piecing his business with the fact that he treated Tony like a father and insisted that every second be spent with him. It didn't exactly bother anyone, or become annoying, but people (*cough* MJ *cough*) would be lying if they said they weren't suspicious of the playboy.

"Peter! C'mon you're gonna be late!" Peter immediately snapped out of his thoughts. Today, Tony wanted to test one of his new inventions on him . To say it was a big deal was kind of an understatement. I mean, Tony had started to trust Peter in his lab just a few months ago, and now he was being led through an experiment!? If Peter was told this before starting the internship program Tony offered him a while ago he would’ve laughed till his knees buckled and his face hit the floor.

Breaking his train of thought, Peter began to pack all of his necessities into his backpack. Once that was finally done, he rushed out of his room and greeted Aunt May at the front door. "You got everything you need, Pete?" She asked with interest, grabbing some fresh toast from the kitchen. "Yep! God May I am so hyped for this new invention!! Tony said it could enhance my critical thinking and-" Peter was cut off by Aunt May slotting the piece of toast in his mouth.

"Seriously Pete, I honestly don't know what you see in him." She said, with a hint of sarcasm. "Now hurry up, you don't wanna leave that lucky billionaire waiting!" She laughed as Peter walked through the door and began his journey to Stark’s lab. He was almost bouncing off the walls in excitement!

Eventually, Peter arrived at Stark Industries. He hastily made his way up the elevator and to the lab. Most of the staff working there knew who he was so no one really batted an eye when he walked across the different offices and workplaces to get to his destination. After what seemed like forever, Peter found the elevator that led to where he needed to be. Once he entered the elevator, FRIDAY greeted him. "Hello, Peter. Would you like me to inform Tony about your arrival?" The AI questioned, almost sounding human.

"Oh- Uh yeah! Thank you, FRIDAY." Peter, caught off guard, told FRIDAY. A little while later, the elevator dinged loudly, meaning that he had arrived at the lab. Peter began to rock side to side in excitement. Peter’s excitement only grew once the doors opened and revealed the one and only, Tony Stark. "Hey kid, are you ready to start?" The billionaire asked the brunette. You didn’t have to be super advanced to see the excitement rushing through Peter. "You bet! I'm SUPER happy that you finally let me experience one of your inventions one on one!" Peter replied enthusiastically. He had seriously been waiting for what seemed like forever for Tony to trust him enough to truly work with his inventions.

"I can tell. Oh and uh- sorry it took so long, kid. Now c'mon, let's get this show on the road." Tony smirked as he began to lead Peter to the room where the invitation resides, but when he turned around Peter was walking in the direction of the lab they always worked at. "Woah- hey bud- the inventions this way. Don't want you getting lost!" He spoke, walking up to Peter to redirect him to a bookshelf located in the other direction of the lab. "But- Mr. Stark this is just a book-" Before Peter could continue, Tony pulled a book downwards to reveal a large gray room.

"...You've had a secret room this WHOLE time... and you NEVER TOLD ME??" Peter's eyes lit up with interest as he explored the now-not-so-secret secret room, looking around in all the hidden crevices before coming face to face with the machine in question. "Now kid, I know you're excited, but you said you wanted to participate, remember?” Tony said in a sugar coated tone. Peter spun his head back at Tony before walking to him and nodding his head, symbolizing that he is now ready and prepared.

“Alright, I'm gonna need you to step in here." Tony began, walking over to a tall pod connected to the machine by a large foil-looking pipe. Peter took off his backpack and did as told, entering it without hesitation. “Woah… it's me shaped!” Peter laughed happily. Tony’s lips curled as he pressed a button on the control panel located near the machine. The door to the pod quickly slid closed. "...Wait… Mr.Stark I thought you would-" Peter was cut off by a large beep from the controls. "Please kid," The pod filled with toxic colored smoke, filling Peter's lungs as he desperately tried to escape. The teenagers' hands clawed at the strong glass. "Call me Tony." Those were the last words Peter heard before it all faded to black.

The last thing Tony saw before leaving the room, though, were four sets of hands, clawing at the glass container, and eight beady red eyes, glaring right at him.
