Work Text:

Hong Lu has always found Yi Sang fascinating.

The first time Hong Lu heard him talk, he had to make sure if that’s really Yi Sang who was speaking.

The man is a mysterious and, questionably, interesting person with high intelligence. He seems to go along with everything the manager and other sinners had planned without a hint of protest, or if there is any, it is very rare.

He would say something that is hard to understand, but there will be someone who understands him nonetheless, like Faust.

Or Don Quixote and Sinclair who are seen playing chess against one another with Yi Sang as a spectator. (Although, the said spectator often offers his advice to the girl when she is cornered, much to Sinclair’s dismay.)

Hong Lu wishes he could be that person.

Yi Sang always looks exhausted, judging from the prominent bags under his eyes. Hong Lu wonders if it is because the man hardly slept or instead of eye bags, it is something else, like tear stains, for example.

Hong Lu would never know.

Then comes the night where they are sleeping together, and he has happened to get a spot next to Yi Sang. The night falls and everyone falls asleep, except for the two of them. Driven by curiosity, Hong Lu asks, turning his body to face Yi Sang. “Do you have trouble sleeping? Your eye bags are getting worse.”

Yi Sang says nothing and shrugs, and after a moment pause, he seems to think of an answer. “…. Sleep does not come easy for most of us.”

Hong Lu tilts, trying to wrap his head around Yi Sang’s speech pattern. “Is there anything I could do to help?”

In a short span of time, a surprise flashes through Yi Sang’s empty eyes as it quickly vanishes. “I could not think of any method you could do.”

“I know!” Despite Yi Sang’s opinion on the matter, Hong Lu wraps his arms around the shorter man’s back and pulls him close, and because of their height difference, Yi Sang’s head nestled just right on his shoulder. “My mother often did this when I had a hard time sleeping, I’m sure this will help you~”

Yi Sang stills his movement, probably perplexed or surprised by Hong Lu’s sudden embrace. He admits having Yi Sang in his arms feel…right, natural, even, as if he has always belonged here.

Hong Lu has been keeping his eyes on Yi Sang and trying to befriend the man because of his interesting quirks, but it seems his heart has been caught in a web of affection without his knowledge.

He is pulled from his train of thought by a light snore beneath him. Hong Lu blinks, looking down to find Yi Sang already falling asleep, in Hong Lu’s arms, no less.

The man looks so peaceful, with his eyebrows slightly relaxed, his chest rises and falls in a slow but steady rhythm. Hong Lu wishes he himself could indulge in this kind of situation more often.
