In Another Lifetime

Summary:

Vylad is thinking about their past with Laurence more recently as he's been living with Laurence because of his family life. Laurence finds Vylad sitting on the roof alone in the dead of night, as Vylad had trouble sleeping. They talk for a bit until one thing lead to another, and they are making out on the room under the moonlight for a distraction.

Work Text:

There was no denying Vylad had anger problems, bad, unchecked, anger problems, growing up in a house where anger was a constant. There was no chance for him sadly. Listening to screaming matches his whole life, nothing about his life would be considered peaceful or stable. Never really feeling happiness at home or anywhere for that matter. Vylad never had many friends, always preferring the background. I mean he guessed he was friends with… oh wait no they weren’t really friends now that Vylad thinks about it. It’s just something he never cared about, having friends weren’t for people like him. I mean Garroth would come home with his own friends and they would talk to Vylad. Which confused Vylad and pissed off Garroth to no end. His peers wouldn’t want to walk up to him and willingly talk to him but Garroths friends would always come up and talk to him. They were always covered in grass stains and mostly wore baseball uniforms, but there was one guy… He had shaggy caramel hair, olive toned skin and the prettiest cerulean eyes. Vylad remembers when he first met Laurence and how stupid he acted, he wanted to punch his younger self sometimes.

“Hey.. Who are you?”

“Uh- I’m Vylad. Who are you?”

“I’m Laurence, Garroth’s friend. Are you Garroth's brother?” Laurence asked and Vylad tapped his pencil against the table. ”Yeah I’m o-one of Garroth’s brother, actually I’m a half brother. Not fully related to Garroth or Zane.” Vylad muttered looking at Garroths looming face, Laurence furrowed his eyebrows looking back at Garroth. ”Well I’m adopted and I’m just as much family to the Zvhal's even though I’m not blood. I’m sure the Ro’Maeves love you just like their own.” Laurence softly said and Vylad looked down, biting down harshly on his lip. ”We do love him like he’s our full brother and family- Vylad just likes to get technical.” Garroth glared daggers at Vylad who kept his head down. ”I’m only reassuring him Garroth, it’s hard not being blood related to people you're living with even if they reassure you, it’s hard to believe.” Laurence bit back glaring at Garroth.”Sorry,” Garroth muttered and Laurence smiled.”Thank you,” Laurence replied and Garroth looked like a kicked puppy .”So what are you doing Vylad?” Laurence asked and Vylad looked up gazing in Laurence’s eyes slightly before looking down again.”Uh I’m just reading- b-but I should probably be going. I wouldn’t want to intrude on your time with Garroth. ”Vylad quickly said getting up from his seat. Laurence frowned slightly, furrowing his eyebrows. ”Oh what do you have to do?” Laurence asked and Vylad tapped a pattern on the cover of his book. ”Uh homework- I have homework to complete.” Vylad stuttered thinking of a lie to get out of this situation, aka making Garrorth anymore pissed than he was at him. ”Oh what is it, I can probably help you?” Laurence asked and Garroth glared at Vylad.

“He can do his own homework, Laurence.” Garroth said and Laurence whipped around.”I’m asking Garroth Irene- I’m just being nice. What is your problem?!” Laurence loudly said and Garroth shook his head. ”There’s nothing wrong. You’re just here to hang out with me, not Vylad.” Garroth pointed out and Laurence rolled his eyes. ”Garroth I see you everyday, me not hanging out with you today because maybe your brother needs help with homework, will not kill you.” Laurence said with a sharp tone and Garroth rolled his eyes letting the argument go, for his own pride.”So do you need help?” Laurence sighed out and Vylad shook his head. ”It’s actually just extra credit- I get bored at times and school is easy for me.” Vylad spoke honestly and Laurence looked impressed. ”Oh- what’s your grades?” Laurence asked and Vylad played with the pages of his book. ”Straight A’s,” Vylad muttered and Laurence’s jaw dropped slightly. ”Wow, maybe you should be teaching me instead of me teaching you.” Laurence scoffed in a joking tone and Vylad’s back stiffened slightly. ”No, I bet you’re doing good in your classes without my help. I-I should probably go to my room to do my homework.” Vylad quickly said without any room to say anything as he rushed up the stairs without saying anything. Slamming the door closed as he leaned against his door in support. His heart was beating a mile a minute, taking a deep breath in and out. His cheeks dusted a light pink, before he groaned smacking his book to his face. ”Shit,” Vylad muttered, falling on his bed.

Vylad scoffed as the memory played like a broken record, leaning his weight against the roof. He leaned his head back not expecting to meet the familiar cerulean blue eyes and a familiar warmth washed over him. ”Hey, can’t sleep?” Laurence softly asked and Vylad pulled his headphones off his ears. ”When can I ever,” Vylad sighed out and Laurence let an airy laugh out. “Never,” Laurence said and Vylad his hand up towards Laurence. “Ding ding ding,” Vylad said and Laurence tilted his head feeling a strong feeling of comfort and contentedness. Laurence softly sat next to Vyald holding a nice smile towards him. “Thank you”, Vylad said and Laurence tilted his head slightly. “Thank you for what?” Laurence asked and Vylad looked down slightly causing Laurence to place a hand on Vylad’s shoulder. “When we first met, you tried to make me feel better. Just because of the kindness of your heart. I realised I never thanked you so I needed to thank you before I forget-.” Vylad was saying before Laurence placed a finger in front of Vylad’s lips to get him to stop talking.

“You’re rambling again Vylad,” Laurence said softly, their faces were closer than needed but they didn’t move, it felt normal but in an old way- like it was in their soul. The smell of old books, coffee, and peppermint hit Laurence like a ton of bricks, he slowly melted into him. “Sorry,” Vylad softly said and Laurence kept his gaze on Vylad's eyes. “You don’t need to apologise- I like it.” Laurence spoke a whisper and Vylad locked eyes with Laurence. “Do you? I always thought it was annoying.” Vylad said and Laurence had a glimmer in his eyes. “Did I ever tell you I found it annoying?” Laurence asked Vylad shook his head, the words stuck in the back of his throat. “I actually found it quite cute.” Laurence revealed and Vylad furrowed his eyebrows slightly. “Found it cute? What happened,” Vylad softly asked and Laurence smirked. “Now I just find it funny you still get nervous around me.” Laurence said and Vylad looked down slightly, getting Laurence to laugh. “Like that- there’s no need to get nervous.” Laurence said and Vylad bit his lip. “I’m not nervous though,” Vylad said and cerulean pierced his soul. Laurence quickly pushed his face closer to Vlyad’s where their noses were basically touching. “Now there’s no need to lie right now,” Laurence said and all Vylad could think of at that moment was how close they were in that moment. “Would it be a lie to say I really want to kiss you right now.” Vylad said and Laurence didn’t bat his eyes softly planting his lips on Vylad’s softer lips. Vylad quickly wrapped his arms around Laurences neck pulling him deeper into the kiss.

Laurence laced his fingers in Vylad’s tousled hair pushing deeper. Vylad slowly pulled himself off Laurence. Never thought I’d be here, Vylad smirked and Laurence smirked up at him, who positioned himself on his knees. “Can’t say I did either but I like surprises, especially something so sweet.” Laurence smirked and Vylad captured Laurences lips, quickly leaning Vylad back on the roof as Laurence held his weight above him. Was this everything Vylad thought his first kiss was going to be like? No. He didn’t have any expectations though, but in the deepest darkest part of his mind he pictured Travis as his first kiss. Was Laurence a good kisser? Yeah he was, Vylad deepened the kiss, shocking to Laurence Vylad flipped him over so he lightly sat on his lap. Vylad let go to get some air through his lungs. “Forget about Travis yet?” Laurence said and Vylad furrowed his eyes, and he rolled off of Laurence leaning down on Laurences arm. “Sorry- but we both know you don’t like me and I don’t like you. This is a distraction,” Laurence said and Vylad sighed looking over at Laurence.” Sorry,” Vylad said and Laurence smirked. “Eh it’s alright- we both used each other tonight,” Laurence said and Vylad moved closer towards Laurences warmth. “Well if this makes you feel better- you are a good kisser.” Vylad honestly said which caused Laurence to laugh. “Thanks I’ve had some practice,” Laurence said offhandled and Vylad softly played with the bottom of Laurence's sweater. “You were also my first kiss,” Vylad spoke honestly and Laurence’s eyes widened. “WhaT?!” Laurence loudly said and Vylad nodded.

“Yeah thanks for my first kiss,” Vylad winked jokingly and Laurence felt shitty. “I’m sorry Vylad,” Laurence said and Vylad rolled his eyes. “Wasn’t it me who asked for it? Plus I’m fine- don’t worry about me Laur.” Vylad said and Laurence smirked. “Laur?” Laurence asked and Vylad scoffed. “Don’t make it weird, idiot,” Vylad said and Laurence scoffed. “We made out- that’s not weird?” Laurence said and Vylad turned to face him with big emerald eyes. “Have you made out with Garroth yet?” Vylad asked in mock innocence and Laurences face turned pink. “Why are you bringing up garroth right now?” Laurence muttered and Vylad blinked.”I’m just asking- maybe I have another thing on Garroth. I’m just asking Laur.” Vylad said innocently and Laurence wasn’t buying. “Yeah I can’t say I’ve made out with Garroth.” Laurence said and Vylad smirked. “You aren’t going to say anything to Garroth,” Laurence said and Vylad pouted. “But he annoys me a lot and he’s basically a shell of what he was.” Vylad muttered and Laurence’s eyes widened slightly. “We should really help him,” Laurence muttered and Vylad tilted his head. “We should probably help both of them,” Vylad muttered sitting up, Laurence following, placing a comforting hand on his back. “If I ever go back to that house I fear I’ll never leave it. I’m surprised I escaped the first time.” Vylad sadly muttered and Laurence frown deepened.

“I promise I’ll never let you go back there.”

Their love for each other reaches beyond spoken words- it’s just known. It was known deep in their souls, but it wasn’t their time. They wouldn’t work now, but in some other life they’d be perfect.

In another life I’ll find you again…
