Sebastian exited the defense lobby. With Kay latched to his arm, he lead her to that sweet spot of the courthouse—the same one where she and her dad used to share swiss rolls after a trial. Still clinging onto him, Kay inserts two five dollar bills into the slot. She tapped the numbers on the vending machine, the muscle memory aiding with her swiftness.
While Kay gazed on the sweet treats from the vending machine, Sebastian simply stared at his reflection from the glass.
"They hate me.. Don't they?"
Kay looked up to him as she grabbed her swiss rolls from the dispenser.
"H-Huh? You mean Gummy and Uncle Badd? No! No, they're just protective of me." She reasoned, handing him his own pack of swiss rolls. They'd opt to share if they weren't ready to part with their gloves.
"I mean, sure you accused me of murder when I had amnesia.. And your dad's crimes have nothing to do with you.." before Kay could continue, the tears threatening to spill out of Sebastian's eyes finally came raining down.
Grasping his poor swiss roll in the same fervor with his baton, Sebastian bit his lip as if to fight back sobs.
"Justine likes you.. And Mr. Edgeworth knows both of us very well.. But the way Detective Badd stared at me made me feel uncomfortable.. A-And flatfoot—I mean Detective Flatfoot's tone when he was talking to me sounds like he hates me.."
Shoving her swiss roll in her cute little ninja bag, Kay cups Sebastian's cheeks and stared straight into his glistening eyes.
"Sebby, I know it's important to get their blessing, but it's still early.. They'll warm up to you eventually!
She wiped his tears, disregarding the dampness forming on her gloves. She continued.
"Besides.. You're dating me, not them. If they hate you, it shouldn't matter."
Sebastian's puffy eyes widened as a blush dusted across his cheeks. A small smile crept to his lips.
"You're right.. Thank you, Kay."
