Coming Out of the Evidence Closet

Summary:

A series of short unconnected one-shots going through each of the BAU profilers coming out in their own unique ways.
I wanted to show off as many identities as possible and so some of these head-canons are longshots and some I will defend until my last breath.

Enter for fluff, unconditional love, and a lot of pride

Chapter 1: L is for Emily

Summary:

Emily Prentiss is a Lesbian, argue with the wall. If you didn't know, she was actually intended to be a canon Lesbian in the show but it was 2007 and network television simply wasn't ready for that I guess and the network continued to be too cowardly to retcon it in later.

Set in season four

Chapter Text

“Come on!” Morgan said, grabbing the back of Prentiss’ chair and spinning her around. “I need you.”

“You absolutely do not,” Emily replied, pushing his hands off of the back of his chair.

“My college friends are in town this weekend and I need you to come wingman me to pick up a chick tonight so I can show up the guys with a sweet thing on my arm,” Derek re-explained the plan as if the issue was that she did not understand the reasoning. “And in return, we’ll set you up with one of them for some lovin’.”

“Derek, I respect you as a profiler and colleague but that is quite literally the dumbest idea you’ve ever had.”

“What are you talking about? It’s a great plan. Don’t diss the plan.”

“You really don’t know do you?” Emily chuckled at him with wide eyes. “Oh, my God.”

“What? What is it?” Derek frowned as he watched Emily pack up her desk.

“What’s going on?” A bouncy Penelope asked as she noticed Prentiss nearly doubled over in laughter.

“Derek here is trying to set me up with one of his college buds,” Prentiss said, barely holding in her giggle.

Garcia burst with laughter but quickly saw Morgan’s exasperated face and fell still. “Oh, you weren’t joking. Oh, sweetie.”

“What? What is the big joke here?” Derek snapped, folding his arms defensively.

“Morgan,” Reid spoke up, clearly not paying as much attention to his paperwork as Derek thought. “You do know that Prentiss is a lesbian, right?”

Derek looked back to Emily who was looking at him with a tight-lipped smile. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“God, you’re the worst profiler on the planet,” she laughed. “I didn’t tell anyone. Not explicitly at least, but it’s not like I was hiding it or anything.”

“Oh, wait till we tell Rossi and Hotch!” Penelope beamed.

“Tell us what?” The Unit Chief's voice boomed down from the balcony.

“Nothing!” Derek insisted but knew the devilish grins of his co-workers gave him away. This was a world of embarrassment he wasn’t escaping any time soon.

Notes:

Alternate Dialogue I thought was funny but ultimately too OOC

“Derek, I respect you as a profiler and colleague but that is quite literally the dumbest idea you’ve ever had.”

“You respect me?”

“Not really. I was lying to prove a point.”
