It's a sad story, you've been warned.😭

Work Text:

Violet is the daughter of a royal family whose business has been going badly in recent years. Her parents have decided to conclude an agreement with another royal dynasty on the marriage of her and the heir from the family.

When she entered his castle, she noticed it. He stood on the veranda dressed in an elegant tailcoat, his snow-white hair shone in the midday sun and was pulled back. His cold eyes are looking at her. "You are my fiancee , aren't you?" comes his deep voice

Princess Violet is wearing a royal blue velvet off-the-shoulder dress with silver patterns, that makes her curvy body even more appealing, her beautiful eyes shining under the warm spring sun like amethyst, her lavender long hair waves in the breeze. She walks up to the Prince, then Vergil recognizes his childhood friend, the girl that he always loved. She is three years younger than him, so she is just twenty now, and she grew up so very beautifully that his heart skipped a beat.

"It's her… "

His heart skipped a beat. They had been friends since childhood. His face remained expressionless, but a very slight twinkle appeared in his eye.

"You look wonderful, my dear..." - he said and his eyes clouded over slightly. He looked the young woman up and down and, although he was calm, she saw a slight spark in her eyes - A spark of longing…

"Vergil…?" Violet almost can’t believe who she is facing, the little boy that cares for her since she was eight, "It’s been a very long time since we’ve last met… How many years already?" She slightly tilts her head to the side, thinking, "Last time I saw you was at my fourteenth birthday party, so it’s been six years!!" She gently holds his hand in hers, amazed by the handsome young man in front of her, "And you’re twenty-three now…"

"Six years..." - he agreed quietly.

"Six years, and you are twenty. You became so beautiful." - he bent down and pressed a light kiss on her hand.

"And you, my dear, how are you? You look great in this dress... I've never seen you dressed like that," he smiled and looked into Violet's eyes with a soft expression.

"I have been well... I've never imagined that you... You will be my future husband..." She smiles at him, her smile so beautiful that caught Vergil off guard, he stares for a few seconds longer than he should. Violet saw a beautiful brunette lady standing behind him, judging by her revealing red dress, she thinks she is one of the royal courtesans, a blue rose brooch on her chest indicating that she belongs to Vergil. Violet’s smile fades, she asks him, "Is that lady one of your concubines…?"

"Yes." - Vergil replied, a dark expression appeared on his face.

"Marie..." He spoke her name, as if disgusted. The name seemed to sound like a curse, and a cold shudder ran down his spine. "She is one of my concubines. And I don't like her very much, but I have to have her."

Vergil notices Violet's face darken and thinks that maybe he should have told her about concubines.

He leads Violet to his room, she sits on his couch and waits for his explanations.

"So… You have many concubines… Are you still going to keep Marie or other concubines after we’re married…?" She asks softly, she is trying hard to keep her voice calm and emotionless.

"I am a prince, and I need a successor." He explained quietly.

"You will be my wife, my queen. And I must have concubines so that I can have children," Vergil said flatly.

He could see that Violet was uncomfortable and slightly ashamed at the question, but she was the woman who would wear the crown. Perhaps she would understand him.

"But I can also give you children!! Why would you still need them when you have me!?" Her sudden outburst surprised herself and him, her face flushed in embarrassment, she lowered her head immediately, "I… I am sorry…"

"No, you don't need to apologize." He tried to calm Violet, but it was difficult to get through to such a beautiful and stubborn woman. It had always been like that. "It's just... You are too important, and I don't want to risk your health to have an heir..."

He was silent for a few seconds and then continued:

"You are much more valuable to me. I've never told you this before, but I don't want to lose you."

"I would rather die giving birth to our child, than to see you having intimacy with another woman…" She says in a quiet voice, tears silently rolling down her cheek, her eyes filled with sorrow. "It is my duty to produce an heir for you, not theirs!! You can’t deprive me of that!!"

"She has never been like that. Why doesn't she calm down… " He thinks to himself.

"I will not take away your right and duty to give birth to a child." He said evenly. "All your children will bear my name and will be legitimate."

"But I cannot risk your life in this manner. This may sound unpleasant, but it is my duty to protect you and the kingdom by producing an heir as soon as possible..." He paused a little and continued, "I need to have other concubines besides you. I don't want to, but I must "

"You must …? Are you saying that I alone cannot satisfy your needs?" She raised her voice just a bit, but her voice is shaking, her heart is breaking into a million pieces, she doesn’t understand why he insists on keeping concubines.

"I'm trying to explain to her and she doesn't listen. She's too upset. "

"You are more than capable of satisfying my needs, but that's not the point! I have to produce an heir, do you understand?!" He yelled. The color of the veins on his forehead was visible, but he quickly regained himself.

"I'm a prince, I'm a military commander, I'm the heir, and I have to produce an heir!" He continued in an even tone.

"Then I will give you one!! More than one!!!" She is crying her heart out, if there’s any left of it, "I will give you an heir, what then? Will you send all of your concubines away? Or you will still keep them for your own pleasure?!"

"I'll be damned, she's going crazy! That's not the gentle Violet I used to know. Has something happened to her during all this time?! "

"Enough" - he said, looking at her coldly - "I will not discuss this matter with you. You will be my wife."

"And you must keep calm and stop these insane cries."

She stays quiet for a moment, shocked by his harsh words, he has never spoken to her like this before, she stops her crying and takes a deep breath before she says, "Then I will not be your wife." She then hurried out of his room.

"That girl is crazy… " Vergil thought and then shrugged.

"If that's her choice... I will not stop her" He concluded coldly and sat down to do his work.

"She will regret her childish behavior, I'm sure… "

Violet went back to her kingdom, heartbroken. A few months later, her parents sent a letter to Vergil with a tiny pendant, it is a pendant crafted from wood, the one Vergil crafted for her on her ninth birthday. The letter said that their beloved princess took her own life on the highest tower of their castle, and her last words are for him: I love you, always.

"Her... her last words... She loved me? " Vergil muttered quietly.

He took out the pendant and looked at it for a long time, a single tear appeared in his otherwise emotionless face.

He wiped it away and put the letter and the pendant in his drawer, " She is gone... forever… "

From this day on, something has changed, he began to distance himself. He became gloomy, cold, unapproachable and hard.

Every day, the guilt of having driven the woman he loved to suicide haunted him.

And then the years went by, Vergil became king of his kingdom, and he lost everything. He lost his love, his joy of life, nobles in his court were afraid of him, but only Marie remained by his side.

She tried to comfort him and be sympathetic, but he had become cold and ruthless, and her attempts were unsuccessful, but she still did not leave his side, she was the last person he had.

Then he received another letter sent from Violet's parents, they found this letter among her belongings, and when he read it, he felt the sting of tears behind his eyes. A letter form his beloved Violet, whose death he could not forget.

"Dear Vergil…

How I wish I could see you at least one more time. I don’t blame you for what happened, but I regret that our last meeting was so bitter. I wish we had the chance to say goodbye to each other…

What’s done is done, and it can’t be changed. No matter what happens, please don’t blame yourself, it is not your fault, and I wish you happiness in life. Perhaps in another life we could be together…

Your Violet. "

And another tear rolled down his face.

At that same night, Vergil has a dream, the place is a vast plains, full of green grass and the breeze is gentle, the moon shining above him, then he saw a hazy figure under the silver moonlight, it’s a woman with long, lavender hair, wearing a white dress with her back to him.

"It's you... Violet," - he said quietly and walked to the figure, hoping that it would turn around.

"She probably doesn't hear me… "

She did not turn around, so he reached out his hand and touched the woman's shoulder. "I missed you very much..." He said in a hoarse voice, and his tears flowed freely.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry..."

His hand passed through her translucent figure, she turned around and flashes him a smile before she disappeared with the wind.

"No!.. Wait!.. I'm sorry..."

Vergil ran after her, shouting for a very long time, but the vision of Violet disappeared into the sky, and he was left alone.

He looked around in despair, and a shiver ran down his spine, and tears streamed down his face, his breath turned ragged with sobs.

Vergil took a sharp breath before he flashes open his eyes, he felt wetness on his face, he is laying on his bed, it was just a dream… Then a woman’s voice comes from beside him, it is Marie, "My King… What happened?" She gently puts her hand on his heaving chest.

"I saw her. I saw her again... " - he muttered, struggling to speak.

Then he sat up and began to dry his face with his arm, his eyes full of tears.

"It was Violet... she was standing there, at the end of the valley in the silver moonlight. She flashed me a smile, and then she disappeared. I tried to catch up, but the vision disappeared..."

Marie sits up with him, holding his waist from behind, she tries to comfort him, "She is dead , my King" Her voice contains some bitterness inside, she is so frustrated that her king is still thinking of a dead princess, why can’t he sees that it was her who is with him all these years.

"She is dead…" He repeated silently, "You are right... But I thought I saw her..."

"She’s gone… But I’m here…" Marie kisses his temple, then his cheek, and his lips…

Suddenly he felt a light kiss on his lips, and for a little while he remained completely stunned by this feeling, but then, suddenly realizing who was kissing him, he pulled back from her.

"I... Marie..." He said, searching for words.

At that moment his face became cold and grim again, and his eyes flashed with anger, "What are you doing?!"

"Let me help you feel better, my King." She moves to straddle him, kissing him on the lips and pressing her body against his, she would do this whenever he thinks of the dead princess, hoping one day he will truly let the princess go and accept her.

She had a few chances to give him an heir, but every time he finds out she is pregnant, he orders an abortion.

Vergil felt Marie's soft touch…

He began to kiss her back, and after a while, he forgot about Violet in a moment of passion.

"My King…" Marie reaches a hand to his crotch, palming his shaft, her breasts pressed on his chest, Vergil continues to kiss her, but when he briefly opened his eyes and look out at the veranda of his room, he saw a pale figure under the moonlight, a woman wearing white dress with long lavender hair , this time she is facing him, and he saw her face filled with sorrow…

"It can't be! What is happening?! "

He stopped his movements and his kiss and looked in the direction of the veranda.

And for a few minutes he saw Violet again... and she smiled sadly at him.

"No... not again!" His whole body shook, and he sat there in shock for several seconds.

"It's not real..." He muttered quietly and looked around, "It's not real..."

"My King!?" Marie is shoved to the bed, she quickly sits up and holds his arm, "My King, there’s no one there !! You are scaring me…!!"

"I... It's nothing..." He said numbly and rubbed his eyes.

"There is... No one..."

Vergil looked around a bit more, and there was no trace of Violet, of course. Only the moonlight was spreading over the night sky, and the moon was full, and the wind was gentle.

"I must have been imagining it...", he came to himself.

Vergil takes a few minutes to calm himself, then he turns back to Marie, he thought maybe his concubine will help him clear his mind. He pins her on his bed, he lets all of his frustration, sadness, grief and anger out onto her, he keeps pushing and pushing, until his body is at its limits and Marie is passed out in exhaustion. But even after such intense sex he just had, he feels empty, he feels nothing

Vergil looked at the unconscious Marie and felt nothing - not a sense of conquest, pleasure, or pride.

"I... I should have enjoyed this. " He thought, " I really... should enjoy it. But… "

Tears began to roll down his face. Again, the ghost of Violet was back in his mind, and her sad eyes were staring at him silently.

"Why... Why!?" - he muttered out loud, and sat in silence for a long time, lost in his thoughts.

The moon is still shining outside the windows, Vergil is sitting behind his desk, he falls asleep on his desk. Suddenly, he feels someone touched his shoulders, he woke up immediately and saw a translucent figure beside him, he can clearly see her face now, it is Violet, wearing the same white dress and her long lavender hair gently flowing on her back, a sad smile on her beautiful face, he is shocked.

"Violet!" - he shouts with delight, but also with grief, and he sits up.

"Violet... I missed you." He said, and wiped the tears away, "Are you finally with me again?"

He stretched out his hand towards the familiar figure of Violet, a ray of happiness and excitement lit up in his eyes, but after a few seconds he realized that this is not real, and his expression changed to one of despair and regret.

"...or it's not real again?" - he muttered, trying to convince himself.

"My Vergil…" But he heard her sweet voice, "My poor Vergil…" She reaches a hand to his face, but instead of her warmth, what he feels is just a chilly sensation, he tries to hold her hand but his hand goes through it, "I am so sorry…" She says to him.

"I'm losing my mind, I'm seriously losing my mind right now ." He thought.

"But... Why?" He said quietly, his voice quivering, "Why couldn't we be together? Why...?"

Tears came to his eyes once again, he began to feel more and more scared. He always had a strong willpower, but now he felt weak and powerless, as if everything was collapsing.

"My Vergil…" She speaks again, "You have to stay strong…" A tear slides down her cheek and vanishes in midair, "You can’t stay like this anymore…" She floats closer to him, both her hands cupping his face, he doesn’t feel any malice from her ghost, only her kindness and care, "You are a King, you have to fulfill your duties, as you always said…" She smiled bitterly at him again, "You have to at least produce an heir for your kingdom, isn’t it?"

"I... I..."

The ghost of Violet, so familiar to him and so beloved, she brought him comfort, despite his initial shock.

"It's so hard without you, Violet... Everything seems strange and unreal, and I..."

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath - "I will do my best. I don't want to fall apart, but I feel it. I can barely stand up..."

"I will fulfill my duty. You are right, that is what I must do. You are right..."

"And I know you will…" This time her smile seems a bit more genuine, her thumb caressing his cheek but he couldn’t feel it, "I wish to be with you… My Vergil, you are my only true love…" She leans in to press an unreachable kiss on his lips, "How I wish I could tell you how much I love you sooner…"

"I love you too..."

At the ghost's last words, Vergil began to cry quietly.

"You're my only true love. I... I can't live without you..."

"Stop yourself, fool. She's not real. " He thought, but he couldn't stop crying.

For a few moments he was completely immersed in the sad feeling of loss.

But then the ghost of Violet began to fade away, slowly disappearing in the air, and he was left alone again, just a man sitting in a dimly lit room in the middle of the night.

"Take care of our daughter… My love…" These are the last words he heard from her before she completely disappeared, leaving Vergil dumbfounded and heartbroken again.

The next morning, Vergil wakes up at his desk again, he opens his eyes and sees something shiny in front of him, it is a small piece of crystal in the shape of a droplet, like a teardrop , he then realizes that this must be Violet’s tear… She was real, she wasn’t just his dream…

"It really happened... It wasn't a dream... she really was here " Vergil thought, amazed.

He took the crystal in his hand and stared at it for a long time.

"Her tear was real... She was here."

She came and told him that she loved him. She loved him and wanted to be with him…

Vergil felt his heart beating rapidly with feelings of hope and anxiety, but a smile still appeared on his lips - she would always be with him.

He puts the tear in a tiny glass vial and makes it a necklace, he wears it wherever he goes, knowing that his Violet will always be with him.

His life starting to get back to normal, Violet’s ghost had reminded him of his duties, and he tries so hard to fulfill them.

Nine months later, his only concubine Marie gives birth to twin babies, a boy and a girl. Even though he finally has an heir but that doesn’t bring him any joy, he loves his children nonetheless, but he just doesn’t feel joy .

His concubine gave birth to twins, the heir he needed.

Vergil felt love and care for his children, but there was something missing. He still felt lost and depressed.

"She is not with me " He thought, " I want my Violet... I want her back… "

But her ghost did not come again, and he felt no sense of joy, only sorrow.

He didn’t marry Marie or to any woman, he remained single as his only Queen was gone, and he tended to keep it this way.

As the little prince and princess grow, they become more and more beautiful, they both inherited his white hair, the little prince has his blue eyes, but the little princess, who has Violet’s amethyst eyes , looks just like Violet when she was little.

Then something hits him, he remembers her last words: " Take care of our daughter… My love… "

"She... she lived on. "

Her eyes, her looks, her everything... Violet was alive in his daughter.

His daughter…

He doesn’t understand how, he is absolutely sure that both babies came from Marie’s womb, the little boy looks like him and Marie, but how could this little girl look so much like Violet? Her signature amethyst eyes, her little nose, the features of her face… She looks just like a mini Violet.

He looked into the eyes of a little girl, and suddenly it felt as if he was staring into the eyes of Violet.

"Violet… "

He felt a pang in his heart at the thought. And for the first time in a long time, he began to smile genuinely.

"She lived on… " He thought.

"She... She still loved me after all… " He realized.

Vergil wrote to Violet’s parents, telling them about all of this, his little girl that looks so much like their late daughter, and that he wanted to have a test with them to see if his little girl really carries Violet’s blood. He also did a test on his children and Marie, and the results shocked everyone involved.

Both babies carry King Vergil’s bloodline, and the little prince is the son of his concubine Lady Marie, but the little princess is shockingly, not related to Lady Marie…

"She's not related to Marie... but she's related to me. But how…? " Vergil felt stunned, and a miracle happened... Something that could not physically be possible had occurred.

He became anxious and excited at the same time.

"It doesn't make sense! " he thought and still found it hard to believe that it had happened this way.

About a week later, Violet’s parents visit Vergil’s kingdom, they come to see if what he wrote in the letter is true. They took a test with the little princess, and the result indicated that the little princess is their grandchild … She really is Violet’s daughter , but she was born from Marie’s womb…

It is a miracle

"It's a miracle! It's a miracle!" Vergil's emotions went wild as he spoke. Marie looked at him in surprise and bewilderment, and he laughed out loud wildly.

He couldn't explain it, but this was a miracle.

"How is this possible?"He said, looking at the little girl.

He picked up his daughter, who was watching him with her big amethyst eyes, he looked closely into her eyes, and then burst out laughing again when he recognized Violet.

"She looks just like our baby Violet…" Violet’s mother says softly as she is crying in her husband’s chest.

Vergil finally understands what Violet’s last words mean, she told him to take care of their daughter, her ghost brings a miracle to him, even though they can’t actually be together, but their love still bears fruit…

"She's a living miracle." Vergil looked around happily and took out the vial from his pocket, with Violet's tear.

"Look, I have her tear. This is her gift to me, and it must have been her gift to our daughter..." He shows it to his baby daughter, a tear of happiness in his eyes.

"I will take care of her... I will do everything to make her happy. I promise." He whispers to himself, like a promise to his beloved Violet.

He decided to name the little princess Valeria . He places the necklace of the tiny vial containing Violet’s tear on his daughter's neck; he wants his daughter to always be with her mother.

Marie was shocked about all this, all the hardship she goes through her pregnancy and parturition leads to this? She gave birth to the daughter of the woman she hates most?! She cannot believe it.

"Valeria..." Vergil looked at the small girl with a smile.

"You are my daughter... but also Violet's. You must never forget about your mother, and know that she will always be with you...You have a piece of her with you, always."

The tiny vial in his hand glittered in the moonlight, and it seemed to Vergil that the tear had become as bright as a diamond, it is a very rare and precious jewel.

"It is a sign that she loved me even after death. She stayed with me through this miracle."

After the babies are asleep, Vergil goes back to his chamber, he stands behind the glass door to the veranda, looking at the cloudy night sky. Suddenly, the clouds cleared away, revealing the silver moon, a beam of soft moonlight shines on his veranda, then a white figure appears.

"My Vergil…" It’s Violet again, Vergil opens the glass door immediately and rushes to her side, he sees a bright smile on her face, just as he remembered.

"Violet!" He stood in awe at the sight of the familiar ghost, then he embraced her closely, and tears rolled down his face again.

"I've missed you. For all these years I've missed you. I was waiting for you and I'm glad that we can meet again at least... But how is this happening? Why are you visiting me again?"

Vergil tries to embrace her but he is just holding a cloud in his arms, he swears he can feel her warmth. "My Vergil… I miss you too…" Her pale fingers caress his cheek, but only a faint coldness left on him, "I’m glad that you’re taking great care of our daughter and your kingdom, I’m so proud of you…" She smiles again, this time no more sadness in her eyes.

Vergil realized that he could barely touch her, but for a moment he swore he felt her warmth and presence next to him. It gave him hope... hope that she was really there. Or even if it was a hallucination, there must be a reason he sees her again.

"Violet..." He repeated, touching the cold of her hand with his hand. "I'm trying. It's not easy without you, but I'm trying for our daughter." He looked into her eyes - "But... Why do I see you again?" He asked in quiet shock.

"I came to see my beloved husband and our little Valeria, you did a good job taking care of them…" She cups his cheek with her cold hand, "But don’t neglect your son, Nero, he will be your heir one day…" Then sadness comes to her eyes, "And Lady Marie too… As much as I hate to say this, but… She is your son’s mother , it is your responsibility to take care of her too." She looks deeply into his eyes, "And besides, it was her womb that carried my daughter , please treat her nicely for me?"

Vergil listened to the ghost quietly, and everything she said was fair.

"I will, I promise you." But he still had a question on his mind.

"Violet... Did you do this? Did you arrange all this?"

He wanted answers, but no matter how hard he tried to accept it, he felt the tears slowly rolling down again, and his voice trembled a little. He had to hold them back for so long, and now he wanted to let them out.

"I begged the goddess to grant me this gift, so that I can have a child with you…" She smiles bitterly, "But there’s a consequence…" She pauses and looks away from him, "In our next life, I won’t recognize you anymore, but I know you will make me fall in love with you again…"

"So... We were destined to be together even in the next life..." A new tear ran down his cheek, this time it was not a tear of sadness or regret, but a tear of hope and bliss.

He squeezed her hand tightly, and felt that she was slipping through his fingers. He wasn't going to let her go."I'll find you again..."

"Somehow... somehow I'll find you again… "

"I'll do whatever I have to to be with you again..."

"I know you will…" She leans in to kiss him on the lips again, her kiss so light just like a breeze, but it still warms Vergil’s heart, "It is time, my love…" She pulls back from his embrace, "I must go now… We will be together again… Remember to come to me again… In our next life…"

Then she disappeared, only her soft voice echoed in his room, saying: "I love you so, so much, my Vergil…"

"I love you too..." He whispered softly after the departure of her ghost, but only silence came instead of her voice, and it was clear that she was gone…

"She was really here …" He sat on the veranda and stared blankly into the distance. " She was really here. "

As impossible as it seemed, it was true. For a moment she came to see them. And promised that they would meet again.

"We're going to meet again …" He thought, his heart beating...

The seasons change, the years pass.

Vergil did not see Violet's ghost again, but he remembers her, and remembers their promise.

Their promise to be together.

Their destiny…

Time goes by, everything changes.

Vergil is getting older.

The white hair on his head grows thicker, his beard too, and there are new wrinkles on his face, but he is still strong.

He is strong for his children.

For their daughter.

For his promised future...

Vergil ruled his kingdom as the best King they ever had, and he raised his son Nero to an honorable young man. His precious miracle princess, Valeria, grows to be a beautiful young woman, she looks just like her real mother , Violet.

She is bright and sweet, with a kind and caring heart. The people of the kingdom loved her so much, they even gave her the nickname ‘Princess Vi’. She married a local nobleman she loves, and he loves her equally. Nero found his destined wife, they both have a happy life.

Princess Vi is a beautiful young woman with amethyst eyes like Violet, Vergil's heart filled with pride at the sight of his daughter, his daughter who took after her mother… " My dear, Violet… "

He knew she must be watching them, and would always be with them. Even if he still needed to wait for so long. But the day will come.

The day he meets Violet again…

This day will definitely come.

Many decades later, King Vergil lived a full life, his son Nero took his place and became the next King. On his deathbed he takes his children’s hands, he tells them the miracle happened on Princess Valeria, he told her about her true mother, Violet, and makes his son promise no matter what happens, he must protect his half sister Valeria.

The Princess now understand why she always feels her mother Marie is alienated from her, she didn’t treat her badly, just not that close to her compared to her older brother Nero, but now it all make sense, she was never Marie's real daughter, that explains why Valeria looks nothing like Marie too.

Nero promised to protect the kingdom and his sister. And with his son’s promises, Vergil closed his eyes, and in his last breath whispered a silent prayer…

"Violet, I'm coming... I will meet you again in the next life, wherever you are... I love you... I'm coming... " Then the beloved King Vergil passed away peacefully and without pain, and a smile on his face.

Vergil opens his eyes, he finds himself again in that familiar place. That vast plains with beautiful grass, the silver moon shines above him, the same place that he met Violet's ghost in his dream.

"Violet..." He calls her name again, and she comes to him with a warm smile, she looks exactly the same as he last saw her, young and beautiful, he feels his body lightened too, he became young again.

"My Vergil..." Violet reaches a hand to his face, he can feel her warmth now, and he can finally hold her again.

"I've missed you so much, Violet!" He caught her hands. I've waited so long..."

His eyes filled with tears, but it wasn't tears of sadness and grief, these were happy tears. For a long time he couldn't believe it. It seemed unreal to him that he would see her again... But then, it really was her. And everything was true.

"Violet was really waiting for me." Her hand was warm, and it was real.

"I missed you too, my love..." She kisses him on the lips passionately, a kiss they never had when they were in the world of the living, "I knew you would come for me..." She then rests her chin on his chest, she can't hear his heartbeat, but his warmth is enough to comfort her, "You took good care of our daughter, she grew up to be a fine lady..."

He hugged her closely and kissed her deeply, and after so long, this kiss was the most tender for him. He wanted to enjoy every second, every minute with her, and not lose a second.

"Yes. She's a great girl... She's beautiful and smart. I love her very much."

He put his hand on Violet's cheek.

"Our daughter is just like you. She's kind, intelligent and gentle. Just like you."

He took a deep breath and couldn't help but smile.

"You must be so proud of her..."

"I am proud of you three , Nero will be a good king too, just like you did..." They embrace each other under the moonlight, enjoying each moment they have left, "It is time, my love... I've been staying here for too long..." She pulls away from him and walks ahead, she turns back and stretches a hand to him, "Are you ready for our next adventure yet, my Vergil? This time, you will come find me, and make me fall for you again..."

"Yes," he responded, smiling, while looking into Violet's warm amethyst eyes, "Yes, I will find you, Violet. I will make you fall for me again. It will be a beautiful adventure!"

He took her hand and followed. This time she wanted to go first.

"Let's go, Violet. I'm with you always."

And so he followed Violet on a new journey. This time all the love, all the memories, and all the adventures were his. And he wouldn't let her go away again...
