Fairy Tales Online (FTO) Information

Summary:

A VRMMO designed by my take on Asuna post SAO.

Notes:

So yeah, this is Fairy Tales Online, a VRMMO designed by my take on Asuna in the post-SAO period. The game systems might not actually work in a real game system, but I was just making something up that could at least provide a scaffolding for something to play with in text-based roleplay. I just figured that it'd be fun to share with other people.

Note my Asuna is heavily canon divergent. The Fairy Dance Arc NEVER happens to her in the "canon" I roleplayed in.

Chapter 1: Welcome Message

Chapter Text

Upon logging in to FTO for the first time, people will be greeted by a holographic rendering of Asuna that relays the following message:

Hello and welcome to Fairy Tales Online, or FTO for short. I hope you can spare a few minutes of your time as I wanted to give all new users a message.

I’m Shinozaki Asuna, the main developer and creator of this game. My main user will be under the name Rapunzel, but most of you will know me as Moonwind the Infallible from other MMOs. I know I disappeared for a few years and many of you will probably have already reached this conclusion, but I was one of the three million victims of Sword Art Online. FTO’s marketing has focused on the fact it was a game created by an SAO for SAO survivors and that holds true. I've done everything I can to make this game what SAO should have been while implementing a number of features to prevent the tragedies that occurred.
You are allowed to choose whatever life you want to live in FTO. You can be an artisan, knight, musician, noble, forager, peasant, or even a thief or assassin. Should you go down the more shadowed paths, though, you'll still be held accountable for your actions in game. Any penalties faced, however, will not affect your other sub-accounts. Regardless of your in-game choices, I hope any SAO survivors can enjoy themselves and find the closure they, like myself, so desperately need and deserve.
Because of my intent behind creating FTO, I've implemented a number of programs that help monitor people to prevent the tragedies that occurred in Sword Art Online. The first is a health monitoring program. This system monitors a player's physical needs and vitals to a large degree and can offer pointers on nutrition and any other physical needs the user may have. These will come in the form of a message in your inbox but they can be ignored and unsubscribed to. While it is my intent to respect individual choices, should the system record a player's life is in danger because of health concerns, they will forcibly be logged out.
Another system implemented into FTO is the Mental Health Counseling Program or MHCP. This is an AI system that can offer guidance and support to players whose lives are difficult and culture may not approve of counseling. Any and all information will be kept strictly confidential and kept only says the system it can aid individuals to the best of its abilities. In conjunction with this, the MHCP also has a large stock of resources for anybody that is suicidal or in an abusive situation but does not know what to do. In these situations, the system can reach out to the necessary authorities or facilities in real life. However, this is generally only done with the player’s permission. In extreme cases, though, the system may notify me to give clearance to act without the player’s permission, but this is only as an absolute last resort. I simply wish simply to prevent tragedies before they can become even worse.
I apologize for taking so much time, but I wanted to let you know about the functions has to help SAO survivors and anybody in need of them. This is the only time you'll see this message, but a transcript can be found in your inbox. Feel free to approach me or any other staff member with any questions or concerns. I hope you enjoy your stay in the world of FTO.

If the system detects SAO data, a prompt will appear.

“SAO data detected. Please choose the data you would like to continue with.”

>Stats

>Skills Progress

>Inventory*

>Familiar (if applicable)

>Inbox

>Avatar Appearance

>Delete All SAO Data

*There will be a bit more information on custom items after this.

Proceed?

After those prompts are out of the way and even if they decline the inventory offer, Asuna’s little holograph will appear again.

I just request two more seconds of your time. For a small fee, the FTO staff is willing to recreate any specific items, familiars, or even the home you owned in SAO, though for a greater fee. These options and the order forms can be found under Settings/Options and Specific Help in the menu. The item and familiar offer is only good to those continuing with their old data and lasts for only a week. The home offer is indefinite, though. Sorry for taking so much of your time! I hope you enjoy the world of FTO for real now!
