“Sakura! Are you okay?”
Kenshiro’s voice calls out from across the forest they always hung out in.
“Mhm!”
She replies, hopefully loud enough to reach his ears.
And Sakura wakes up.
It was nothing more than a dream about her youth. Happy days spent with her first love.
Now they’re twenty-three. They’re past the age of playing hide-and-seek for hours at a time, past the age of falling asleep in the grass after a long day of playing tag.
Now they’re engaged. They used to be childhood friends, then lovers.
Sakura wakes up in Kenshiro’s arms.
She falls asleep again.
