Douma was clinging to her that day. Refusing to let her go even when she started to push and then hit his chest once again. Her sword had been grabbed and put on her waist so it was to flash it to his neck.
“Douma!” Kotoha hissed and the demon only grinned, hands raised and eyes still filled with love.
“Kotoha-chan~.” He was reaching for her again but she just took a step into the sun. That didn’t stop him, his skin singe and took her by the waist. Kotoha huffs as he brings her to his form and sits against the trunk of the tree that is sheltering him from the sunlight. His arms keep her trapped in his lap his head tucked into her neck.
She gets shivers as his tongue darts out to lick her neck. Her heart jumps and he laughs. A squelch and her blade is stabbing his foot.
“Please don’t-‘ She looks over her shoulder and sees Douma pouting. Cheeks puffed out and eyes bright even with the sun out.
In just a few hours, he had shown her that while he was an Upper Moon, he wanted nothing more than her. Her smile he still hasn’t gotten yet but definitely a bucket full of tears for the stunt he pulled earlier.
“Just one bite, please Kotoha-chan.” His fangs were showing and she tenses a bit. He pulls back and knocks his head against the tree.
Kotoha had seen it. He was restraining himself.
Drool was escaping his mouth. A rumble was in his chest as he hummed her song once again. It was relaxing.
Kotoha sighs and lays back against him. She was going to be here a while anyway as her leg needed a bit more time to heal.
“Please…be careful.” Her only plea and she gets a kiss on her head.
But instead of teeth, she receives fingers to her sides. Laughter unwillingly escapes her as she is tickled. She throws her head back and grabs hold of his hands, releasing her grip on her sword, it falling into the sunlight. Colorful eyes are filled with mischief as Douma smirks at the reaction he got out of her.
She falls out of his lap landing on the ground with tears pricking her eyes. Kotoha slows her laughter as she catches her breath and opens her eyes to Douma smiling above her. He had crawled above her without her noticing.
“There it is. There’s your beautiful smile.” He brushes hair away from her face. Kotoha forgets for a moment she is a slayer and him a demon. Those eyes were just full of color, enchanting and once again pulling her in.
Douma is pulled down by her arms, so strong now, around his neck and he is surprised to be kissed. His hair pools around them and his arms cradle her head from the ground as he feverishly returns the kiss.
Soft moans come from her and a rumble forms in his chest.
He missed this.
Kotoha feels him slow down. She didn’t know why, till wet drops are coming down and landed on her face. He is pulling back from her.
She opens her eyes to see his crying face, his perfect vision cracked.
“My Kotoha-chan~, I missed you so much.” Douma hiccups once and Kotoha can’t help but kiss his tears away. He crashes into her chest.
His bulk was heavy but nothing she hasn’t felt before or can’t handle now after her training.
Her training as a slayer to kill demons like him.
Her fingers run through his hair as he sobs into her uniform.
“Douma-“ He turns his head, his eyes looking up at her as he props his chin on her chest. Tears are still coming down his face but still he watches her. His kanji showing his rank are gone and she is grateful for that. She didn’t want that reminder.
“-I missed you…but you broke my heart.” Her tears are back and one of his hands comes up to wipe them away.
“You broke it by killing innocent people.” She takes the hand off her cheek and is shuffling to get out from under him. Douma allows it and soon both are standing.
“Demons have to eat. It's in our nature.” Douma watches her and she shakes her head as tears come down again. He wants to come forward and comfort her but it seems something else must be done.
Rainbow orbs catch the sword that had been soaking up the sun’s rays for a few minutes now.
Kotoha was wiping her tears with her sleeve when she hear the sound of metal scrapping on the ground. She opens her eyes to look at the source. Douma is there at the edge of the shade that protects him, holding her sword. He takes hold of the hilt and stabs his heart.
“STOP!” She is by his side, trying to pry it from his hands. He is once again grinning, not caring he is getting stabbed in a vital organ, and does two cutting motions.
“There we are.” His shirt is torn and his wound forms an X scar on his heart. His blood on the blade evaporates when he drops the sword back into the sun. He takes hold of Kotoha’s hand and places it over his chest.
She feels a slow thumping of his heart under her palm and she looks up to his face. His smile was soft but sincere.
“I promise not to eat no more innocents if you let me visit you as your husband! One night for each spared life.” Kotoha wants to cringe at how unfair the deal was till he brings his pinky in front of him, offering it towards her.
“Pinky promise.” She cracks at that and Douma is once again surprised as he hugged. Tears coming to soak his top. He gently holds her as she cries into his chest.
She pulls back and brings her pinky out.
“Pinky promise.” Douma snakes his finger around hers. Sealing the promise that would save hundreds from his ravenous appetite.
Douma doesn’t expect anything else but for them to wait out the sun. Only for Kotoha to jump a bit, their height difference apparent when she can barely wrap her arms around his neck without a boost. He is hunched and his head gets tuck into her shoulder.
“Gentle…please.” Drool escapes his jaws and he wraps his arms around her waist. He kisses her neck and the intended spot once he removes her uniform from her shoulder.
Faint scars litter her skin and he spots the most faded.
Kotoha’s fingers curl into his hair when he bites down, reclaiming her as his.
Blood so delicious that it can only come from his bride.
He swallows the ambrosia that drove him near mad not having for close to two years but felt like centuries. His eyes open and they seem to glow brighter than the sun at that very moment.
He would rather die than lose this again.
