Chapter Text
“Holy fucking shit, E!” Yoko shouted as she pushed her way into the apartment, her hand tightly clenched around a black leather book.
Enid bolted off the couch, fear sending her soaring a few feet, her heart beating furiously.
“Yoko, I swear to God.”
“No! Look!” Yoko broke in, holding the random book up to Enid.
“Yoko, you know I don’t read—”
“Unless it’s WLW romance, blah blah, I know!” Yoko dramatically waved the book around. “But this is important!”
She paused the game and put away her pink Nintendo Switch. She couldn’t believe Yoko would disturb her Animal Crossing hour on her day off from work. She had just gotten Cookie to successfully move onto her island.
In one swift motion, Enid snatched the book from her hand and ran her thumb across the smooth texture of the cover as she examined it.
‘Wednesday Addams: An Autobiography’ the title read.
Enid's eyes widened in disbelief as her mouth parted slightly. She quickly returned to the sofa, needing to take a seat for whatever she was about to read.
She hadn’t heard from Wednesday in years. Once they graduated, the girl disappeared until a few years later, Enid heard a whisper of her name on the lips of people who had read her book series.
The eldest Addams child achieved massive success as a best-selling author.
Desperate to find Wednesday after school had ended, Enid even went as far as to try to get in touch with Morticia Addams. But even she didn’t know her daughter's location. According to her, Wednesday wanted it that way.
Enid was absolutely heartbroken after hearing that. Did Wednesday not care about her? Was the pain they had endured together now just a distant memory? Did she feel nothing when she thought of all the times they shared together? She thought Wednesday changed, but her leaving right after graduation proved otherwise.
Enid had been left with an immense sense of loss ever since Wednesday Addams had crushed her heart. She was overwhelmed with grief, though the person she was mourning wasn’t even dead.
“I never would’ve thought in a million years that Wednesday Addams would write an autobiography, but here we are!” Yoko's hands moved in a flurry as she spoke.
Enid was hypnotized by the spine-tingling artwork on the book, her hands trembling as she held it. The cover of the book was just so… Wednesday.
She was so spellbound that she hadn't noticed that Yoko was still speaking.
“Enid!” Yoko shouted, her voice ringing out and her fingers snapping in front of the wolf’s face, demanding her attention.
Enid glanced up with a sheepish expression on her face. “Sorry! I was… thinking.”
“Yeah, I figured that much. You haven’t even gotten to the juicy stuff yet!” Yoko flashed a knowing smirk.
Her best friend knew how much Wednesday meant to her. After graduation, Yoko was finally able to make Enid recognize her feelings by walking her through the entire journey Enid had with Wednesday ever since she first encountered the girl. Let’s just say it was a very long talk.
The wolf was oblivious to her feelings until Wednesday had already left, only realizing the truth when it was too late.
She constantly thought of Wednesday, a sadness settling in her chest at the fact she was unable to find her. Soon after, the sadness that had been weighing her down was replaced by an increasing fury. Wednesday had vanished, yet she still saw her face in her dreams every day since.
If she ever saw her again, she was unsure of how she would react. Would she cry? Would she scream? Would she run away? Or maybe she would just pretend not to notice her.
“What do you mean?” Enid's face was scrunched up in confusion as she looked back up at Yoko.
“I am like 99.9% sure that she wrote about you in this,” she said, her pointer finger lightly drumming against the cover of the book in Enid’s hand. “Unless there’s another werewolf she was close with that we don’t know about… Go to page 113.”
Yoko's discovery had stirred Enid's curiosity, despite her desire to forget about the ravenette.
She eagerly flipped to the page and began to read, her stomach flipping with nerves at the thought of what Wednesday had said about her.
Chapter 6 - Regret
I was once asked by my brother Pugsley if I have any regrets. I told him I did not, of course, and that he should desist in asking such asinine questions. However, this did not prevent my mind from wandering, and I subsequently fell into a deep contemplation concerning his question.
I am Wednesday Addams. I have no regrets. (The only exception being that I could not successfully murder my brother’s school bullies.) This is what I told myself, at first.
When I was young, I adopted a consistently stoic attitude, one that was entirely devoid of emotion. However, as I grew older, I recognized my error; my efforts to distance myself from my emotions had, in turn, separated me from the one person I have ever truly loved. To maintain control, I distanced myself, foolishly submerging myself in my work to the point of near insanity. Make no mistake, I am not regretful to have completed my series, as it was one of my most compelling aspirations, but it came with a price. There is a void in my life that I fear cannot be filled.
She haunts my dreams. I have a deep longing to be in the werewolf’s presence again, but I am not an imbecile. I am well aware she would not welcome me back after so many years, after leaving her behind without so much as a word. When I had recognized that my love for her had surpassed platonic, it was an extremely unsettling sensation. I was frightened, and so determined not to follow in my parents' footsteps that I fled. I forfeited the possibility of a life with her to assuage my own conscience. But over the years, as I have matured, I cannot help but think—what was it all for? In my haste to escape, I subjected myself to an existence without any true fulfillment at all. Thus, truthfully, this is the one thing that I regret the most.
Enid’s vision became a blur as she felt her tears sliding down her cheeks and dripping onto the page. She couldn’t even bear to read the rest.
Yoko sat down on the couch next to Enid, and with a sympathetic gaze, she began rubbing her back with a gentle, soothing touch.
“She’s still the same old weird Wednesday Addams, but she seems to have really changed… for the better.” Yoko’s voice was gentle and reassuring as she looked over Enid’s shoulder at the words on the page.
“After… s-so many years?” Enid's voice was choked with emotion as she struggled to speak through her sobs.
“I get that you're mad and I'm mad for you, too, obviously. But maybe it is time to forgive her. She realizes she made a mistake, and if it were past Wednesday, I don't think she would be as willing to accept responsibility for her actions as present Wednesday is now.”
Despite her anger, she still had so much love in her heart for Wednesday Addams. No matter how much she disliked it, Enid was aware of her own forgiving nature; it was simply part of who she was. She already knew her mother's nagging voice would be echoing in her head, disapproving her decision. But her mother's detestation of Wednesday was obvious from the beginning, and her opinion was meaningless. Yoko was right.
But there was still one other thing on Enid’s mind.
“Yoko, she said… she loves me…?”
Yoko slowly shook her head up and down as a gentle smile spread across her face.
She never thought Wednesday would feel the same way she did. Wednesday was uncomfortable with the idea of feelings or emotions, so it was understandable why she ran away after graduation. She was obviously unsure of how to handle her feelings, that being why she fled.
Enid had no doubt she would forgive her. It would take time, but her love was too deep to ignore. All she needed to do was find her.

Chapter Text
After her tiring and extensive research for a few weeks, a stark black and white and bold advertisement for Wednesday Addams' upcoming book signings finally caught her eye on Instagram.
Enid had hoped that Wednesday would have had some social media accounts by now, but she should have expected she wouldn't. Wednesday’s publicist more than likely controlled her advertisements.
Wednesday might have gotten used to dealing with technology, but she would never bring herself to open the "bluebird app" as she had dubbed it during senior year. She had to witness Enid erupt into a fit of laughter, tears streaming down her face as she clutched her stomach. The seer did not understand what was so funny. The app was a picture of a bluebird, was it not? Enid never failed to laugh every time she thought about the memory.
Rather than reach out to Wednesday by phone the way a normal person would, she had to tap into her inner detective and enlist the help of Google.
Enid was very adept at finding out information about people on the internet, but with Wednesday, it was a whole different ball game—none of the Addamses had any electronic presence, apart from Gomez’s mugshot and the news article about his arrest as a teen.
According to the ad that led her to the newly created Viper De La Muerta website, Wednesday was scheduled to do a book signing and meet and greet next week in San Francisco.
A lump formed in her throat as she thought of Wednesday and the five years that had passed since they had last seen one another.
No matter how tempting it was, Enid could never bring herself to read one of Wednesday's books and uncover the fate of Viper's journey. She had only ever read the unfinished drafts of the chapters, never being able to experience the stories in its entirety. She had always felt honored when Wednesday trusted her enough to let her read her works-in-progress. At the time, Wednesday didn’t even let Thing read them. (How could he, anyway? Enid never quite figured that out.)
As she scrolled through the website, she came across many of the readers’ featured fanart. All of them were incredibly talented, but what truly caught her eye was the uncanny similarity of one character.
It seemed that the fans were shipping Viper and a character named Claire. Their ship name was “Vlaire.”
Enid noticed from the fanart that Claire had short blonde hair and eyes that were a vivid blue. The tips of her hair were dyed the color of cotton candy.
When she realized who Claire resembled, her heart leapt in her chest and she felt tears prickling at the corners of her eyes.
According to the shippers, Viper and Claire were romantically involved.
Enid was stunned to see Wednesday's sudden desire to include romantic elements in her novels. She used to always roll her eyes and walk away when Enid brought up the idea of a romantic interest for Viper.
Enid's interest was piqued by the fanart, so when evening rolled around she decided to visit the nearby bookstore, the same one that Wednesday would be at in just a few days.
She bought all three of the novels in the series and read them greedily, barely taking a break, until her eyes were sore and her head ached, and she eventually called in sick for work the next day.
Enid was a preschool teacher to a group of young outcasts, and she loved them all deeply, but she was confident that they could manage with a substitute for one day.
The werewolf was astonished by the progress Wednesday had made in her writing. She was so taken by her writing that she couldn't help but become invested, even when she had to pass over some of the more disturbingly detailed scenes.
Viper's journey in the first book of the trilogy was wrought with trauma, leading her to the discovery of the notorious supernatural New Jersey serial killer.
It was evident to her that some of the characters drew influence from Wednesday's old friends and foes.
Claire, a golden-haired werewolf, had saved Viper from the brink of death at the hands of the killer. That sounded awfully familiar…
As each page turned, the tension between the two characters were palpable, growing until it erupted into a fiery kiss at the end of the third book.
During her continuous research, Enid stumbled upon a few articles. They had spoken about the famous author and how said famous author did not realize the chemistry between the two characters until she saw the book's success and the huge number of Vlaire shippers. Wednesday had written in their genuine chemistry unknowingly, not realizing the romantic undertones until her readers had brought it to her attention.
So, Wednesday finally conceded to her fans' demands and had the two characters share a passionate kiss after narrowly avoiding death at the conclusion of the series.
After reading her autobiography and book series, Enid felt a swell of both love and anger, unsure if she wanted to kiss Wednesday or slap her… or perhaps both?
Wednesday didn't need to do anything except tell Enid how she felt and Enid would've embraced her with an affectionate hug and a bruising kiss. The blonde had to stop looking back, and instead, look forward, hopefully to a future that included Wednesday in it.

Chapter Text
Enid didn’t know what she expected from finally reuniting with Wednesday but she certainly didn’t expect herself to have a breakdown in the middle of a Barnes and Noble.
She swore she could remember hearing multiple fans asking if she was cosplaying as Claire. It was weird, but kind of cute.
When Wednesday spotted her, the hopefulness that flashed in her dark brown eyes made Enid’s heart swell. In an instant, the shorter girl sprang to her feet from the signing table as she approached, letting out a breathy “Enid.”
Embarrassment and a few desperate and angry words were all Enid could muster before she rushed out of the building, her vision blurring from the tears streaming down her face as Wednesday called out after her.
She could barely remember her own voice, shaking and quivering as she stuttered out words like “idiot” and “asshole.” When she reflected on it, she felt a wave of shame wash over her for how she had handled the situation, even though Yoko found it amusing.
Enid didn't even realize the whole crowd of fans had been gawking at the scene before them, completely bewildered by the sight.
The wolf only had Wednesday in her presence for a few moments, yet the sheer depth of emotion in her dark eyes was far more than she had seen from her five years ago.
Enid had gone home and cried all night, her head pounding and her eyes swollen from exhaustion—not to mention she had already used her sick time a few days prior, so she had no choice but to drag herself to work the next day. Before bed, Yoko tried to ease the mood by making some lighthearted jokes, but Enid was too wrapped up in her own mind to even hear her.
This led to the long and tiresome next day, the only comfort being that it was Friday.
As she read a fairytale out loud to her preschoolers, the blonde felt her eyelids getting heavy.
They were all sitting in a circle on a vibrant, multicolored rug, their eyes bright in concentration as they attentively listened to their favorite teacher.
Enid was so engrossed in her reading and struggling to keep her eyes open that she hadn't noticed the faint knock on her classroom door until she felt a slight tug on her sleeve, followed by a soft tiny voice. “Umm, who that?”
“Ah! A ghost!” One of her preschoolers shouted, their voice trembling as they pointed towards the door.
“Ms. S!” Another one yelped, their feet shuffling across the rug as they quickly scurried behind Enid's chair, their eyes welling up with tears.
She quickly looked towards the classroom door and, to her surprise, there Wednesday Addams stood, clutching a bundle of vibrant pink roses.
Wednesday tilted her head as she eyed the preschoolers, and the corner of her mouth twitched up in a playful smirk. “Rest assured, children, I am not a spiritual being as much as I would like to be,” she said.
“You want to be a ghost?!” Ironically Yoko's nephew, a tiny vampire, exclaimed with his baby fangs just barely visible over his bottom lip.
Wednesday's eyes sparkled in amusement as she took in the sight of the trembling children.
“Wednesday…” The wolf sighed out, her heart fluttering in her chest.
“It’s not Wednesday!”
Enid looked at the kids seated on the rug. “That’s not what I—nevermind. Okay, guys, you may have some free time while I speak with Ms. Addams,” she said, her voice soft and accompanied by a faint smile.
The children all cheered and eagerly raced to the corner of the classroom, where the box of toys and games lay waiting.
Enid got up from her chair and moved towards Wednesday, her feet shuffling over the carpet as she made her way to the door.
She motioned for her to come in, and the goth stepped inside the classroom, her hands stiffly holding the bouquet of fresh roses.
“Hello, Enid.” Wednesday gazed at Enid, her eyes filled with warmth and adoration, her words spoken softly.
“I’m—um, sorry about yesterday. I just got so overwhelmed with seeing you, and I just—”
“There is no need to apologize. Given the fact I have hurt you, it was a reasonable reaction.” Enid wanted to laugh at how analytical Wednesday still was.
“I hoped you would be there, but I was not expecting it. I am uncertain of my worthiness to be in your company again, but I felt it was worth a try,” Wednesday added, handing the bouquet to Enid.
Enid smiled slightly as she took the roses from her hand. “I know that I shouldn't want you here, considering you broke my heart. But I don't think I could survive that heartbreak again, and I still can't stand the thought of being without you,” she said, her eyes beginning to water as she placed the roses on her desk. “I missed you, Wends.” She fought to keep her voice steady, her bottom lip quivering with the effort.
Wednesday tentatively raised her arms and paused, her soft gaze fixed on Enid. She was unsure whether it was okay to touch her. Wednesday wasn't normally one for physical contact, but with Enid it was always special, and it still was.
Enid’s eyes widened slightly, staring at Wednesday’s arms hanging limply in the air, patiently awaiting her embrace. Instinctively, her arms made their way around the seer’s waist, her grip tightening as if to prevent her from running away again.
“I missed you too, mia lupa,” Wednesday whispered, her breath warm against Enid’s neck.
After a few minutes of comfortable silence, enjoying each other’s embrace, Wednesday spoke up again. “I’m assuming you read my autobiography?”
Enid couldn’t help but huff out a laugh, moving back to look at Wednesday. “Yuh think?” She shook her head, a small smile tugging at her lips.
Suddenly Enid’s smile turned into a frown as she lightly punched Wednesday in the shoulder. The girl barely moved a muscle from the contact. “That was for leaving me!”
Wednesday smiled, her dimples making a rare appearance and her eyes shining in merriment.
“You could’ve just told me how you felt and then all of this would’ve been avoided,” Enid said, motioning between them.
“I know. I regret the way I handled it. As you know I’ve never been one for feelings and I did not believe I could give you the love that you so much deserved. I was a horrible friend and would have been an even more incompetent paramour.”
“Wednesday… that’s not true,” Enid sighed out, her heart breaking a little at Wednesday’s tone of voice.
“Now, if you’d let me, I would like to make this right.”
Enid shook her head. “No, we are okay. I’m just glad that I finally know why you left… but Wends, why do you think so little of yourself? You don’t know how happy you made me all those years ago. Yes, maybe you had a funny way of showing your love, but you still showed it in different ways and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. It was the reason why I fell in love—” the blonde hesitated nervously, “with you,” she added with a light blush.
“You loved me?” Wednesday asked, her voice soft and hopeful. Enid wanted to cry at the emotion pouring out of the usually stoic goth girl.
“I still do,” she whispered. Wednesday’s breath hitched in her throat as she swallowed, trying to hold back the tears that she would have never dared let Enid see when they were younger.
Despite her valiant efforts, her eyes still brimmed with tears.
Enid softly held her face in her hands. “I love you, Wednesday Addams,” she reassured her and softly ran her fingers across the girl's cheeks, wiping away the tears. Wednesday closed her eyes and sighed in contentment as she leaned into the touch.
The colorful werewolf couldn’t help but cry herself. Enid was the more emotional one, so her tears were no surprise. But to see Wednesday cry, that was something else; it was an unexpected sight.
The ravenette opened her eyes and felt the warmth of Enid's gaze, her deep, ocean blue eyes shining with tears.
“And I you. I never stopped, Enid.”
Wednesday tenderly placed her hands atop Enid's, which still cradled her face.
She opened her mouth to speak again but before Wednesday could say another word, she felt the softness of full lips smash against hers.
Wednesday lost herself in the kiss. She felt the warmth of her kiss spread through her body and the emptiness inside her began to fill. She finally felt whole again. Enid made her feel whole. She always had.
After a brief moment, they both pulled away for air, their lips still tingling from the kiss.
“Enid, I would like to continue this where there aren't any children present.” Wednesday breathed a quiet laugh, her face beaming in amusement. Enid's cheeks flushed as she looked over and saw the preschoolers' eyes wide with curiosity.
“Ms. Enid is kissing a ghost!” A little gorgon boy spoke, but Yoko’s nephew put a finger to his lips and hushed him.
“It is just your imagin– um what’s the word? Imagine–”
A female classmate leaned towards him and whispered into his ear. “Imagination!”
“Yeah, imagination! Can we continue our game now? I was definitely winning!” He bared his baby fangs as his lips curled into a wicked grin.
(He was definitely not winning.)
Enid shook her head with a laugh and turned back to Wednesday. “It’s just a kiss, Wednesday.”
The Addams girl smirked devilishly, and her breath was hot on Enid's ear as she leaned closer. Enid felt a thrill run down her spine as Wednesday murmured huskily. “What I want to do with you certainly involves more than just kissing.”
Enid's face grew brighter and brighter, as her lips quivered and her mouth seemed to flail in search of the right words.
“I-um, well, school doesn’t end for another two hours,” her heart raced as Wednesday's hands tenderly grasped her face.
Wednesday briefly looked over at the rowdy children before she locked eyes with Enid, contemplating her next move. Then, with a fiery passion, she embraced Enid in a passionate kiss. Enid matched Wednesday’s fervor, their lips melding together in equal intensity.
Wednesday pulled back, and Enid felt her breath quicken as their lips remained dangerously close.
The seer’s laugh was low and airy, her lips quirking up in a teasing smirk. “Then I’ll see you in two hours, mon chiot.”
