Work Text:

Atsumu watched his boyfriend pace back and forth across their apartment floor. Atsumu was surprised not to see indents in the carpet. Kiyoomi going back and forth adjusting this or that. Picking up a crumb or too. He was looking his mind. “Hey Omi,” said Atsumu yet was ignore. “Ooooooomi,” sang Atsumu to still no answer. His eyes narrowed watching his boyfriend continue to pace. “Sakusa Kiyoomi,” yelled Atsumu and Kiyoomi jumped. “What,” he said boringly and Atsumu frowned. “Don’t ‘what’ me. Why are ya so stressed it’s just lunch,” said Atsumu resting his head on his hand. “I’m not stressed,” said Kiyoomi. “Omi ya have been pace’n for hours. I told ya everything will be fine. Yer family will love me,” smiled Atsumu.

Kiyoomi rubbed his temple and sighed. “You’re right. I’m being unreasonable. It was just… bad enough coming out to them. My mom is still skeptical,” sighed Kiyoomi. “Come on Omi. I’m great at meeting people. Didn’t you love me when we first met,” asked Atsumu and Kiyoomi walked up to him. Taking a seat. “I suppose,” he replied. “Suppose nothing Omi. Yer parents are gunna love me and yer siblings are going to be my best friends,” smiled Atsumu playfully hitting Kiyoomi’s shoulder. “My siblings are not to be taken lightly. My two brothers are high level executives and my sister is a CEO at a major investment firm. They’ve always been a pain in my ass about volleyball,” explained Kiyoomi.

“I’m sure we’ll be fine. Come on it’s lunch time,” smiled Atsumu offering Kiyoomi a hand. “Oh and one more thing. Don’t embarrass me,” said Kiyoomi narrowing his eyes. “How do I embarrass ya,” gasped Atsumu. Kiyoomi just looked him up and down before heading towards the door. “Omi!!!,” snapped Atsumu running after him. Kiyoomi rolled his eyes as he stepped out the door. “Yer the embarrassment,” grumbled Atsumu going out after him. “Atsumu. Shoes,” said Kiyoomi and Atsumu looked down to se himself unknowingly bare foot. “Fuck! Wait ya distracted me,” whined Atsumu going back inside and putting on his socks and shoes.

Kiyoomi chuckled to himself. “I really am in love with an idiot,” he smiled. “Ok I’m ready,” said Atsumu running out the door. “Are you sure,” teased Kiyoomi. Atsumu paused and looked down at his outfit. “Yeah I got my phone and I look good. I’m ready,” said Atsumu. “Really in that outfit,” asked Kiyoomi locking the door. “What do you mean my outfit!? Omi I’m a great dresser, look at me,” pouted Atsumu following Kiyoomi to the car. “Omi yer literally wearing an outfit I pick out for ya. Yer the fashion challenged one,” sassed Atsumu buckling himself in. “Atsumu I look good in everything,” said Kiyoomi bluntly as he started and car and Atsumu crossed his arms and huffed. He was right. Sakusa,Kiyoomi could make anything look fashionable. “You look cute today,” whispered Kiyoomi, Atsumu heard and blush a little. “Thanks,” he mumbled.

They down down towards the Sakusa estate. Atsumu in awe of the huge mansion type house that they pull up to. Arriving at the gate. Kiyoomi pressed the button outside the window for the intercom. “Hello whom might this be,” the guard asked. “It’s Kiyoomi,” the other replied. “Ah welcome home master Kiyoomi,” it replied as the gates opened. “Master Kiyoomi?,” repeated Atsumu with a devilish grin. “Don’t,” warned Kiyoomi as he parked the car. Both getting out and walking up to the large oak doors. Kiyoomi hesitated and Atsumu held his hand in assurance. “I’m right here Omi,” Atsumu smiled. Kiyoomi took a deep breath and knocked.

The boys were greeted by a butler who bowed to them before welcoming them inside. Atsumu was in awe. The inside was stunning. Painting adoring the walls, a huge chandelier, and a staircase like the titanic. “Omi yer rich, rich,” said Atsumu stunned by everything. “I make my own money,” said Kiyoomi letting the butler take his coat. “Master Kiyoomi, your siblings are all here and they request your presence in the living room. They wish to meet your partner before dinner. At the request of Lady Kanna,” the butler explained. “Of course she’s behind this,” said Kiyoomi. “Is Kanna yer sister,” asked Atsumu. “Yes. She’s a shark to be careful around her,” said Kiyoomi walking towards the living room. Atsumu getting more and more nervous.

They arrived at the room. The help opting the door for him and to say Atsumu thought he died and went to heaven was an understatement. There sitting around the coffee table were the three Sakusa siblings and they looked stunning. Atsumu felt his heart speed up. The to brothers looked like older Kiyoomi’s. One had five-a-clock shadow which looked damn good. Both in nice fitting suits. Then there was Kanna. She looked gorgeous. Tight bodycon black dress, long gloves. She looked like she sweated diamonds. Long curly back hair with a mole above her lip. “Kiyo,” said Kanna happily as she got up and walked up to them. Her stilettos tapping on the marble floor. “Fuck she’s hot,” thought Atsumu trying to contain himself.

He stopped right infront of them and looked Atsumu up indown before doing something unexpected. She hugged him. “Awe he’s adorable Kiyo. I could just. Eat. You. Up,” said smiled with her hands around Atsumu whose face was bright red at this point. “Kanna please you’re embarrassing him,” sighed one of the brothers walking up to them. “Ryu I’m not. I’m just excited,” she smiled letting go slightly only to latch on to Atsumu’s arm. “Kanna please let go of my boyfriend,” glared Kiyoomi. “Oh come on. You and Ryu have always been so up tight. Right Hiko,” said said to the last brother. “What happened to intimating him for fun,” smiled Hiko. “He’s just so cute. What’s your name sweetheart,” she said close to Atsumu’s ear and he gulped. “Atsumu. Call me Atsumu,” he said quickly. “And he has a cute accent. Why can’t I meet a guy like you. Do you have a brother Atsu,” she smiled. “Ye-,” “no,” snapped Kiyoomi interrupting him. “Kiyo stop being like that. He’s going to be family soon. Come with me Atsu,” she replied taking him to the couches and sitting down with me. Atsumu looking back at Kiyoomi apologetically. The rest of the siblings followed.

“So Atsu I bet you get so much unwanted Attention. How did my brother catch a cutie like you,” see smiled. “Uh well. I actually confessed first. I’ve like Omi since Highschool,” said Atsumu. “Kiyoomi didn’t come out till he joined the Jackles for fear of our parents,” said Ryu bluntly. “Ya act just like Omi,” smiled Atsumu and Kanna laughed. “We do not,” they replied together. “I would say Kanna is the most unlike what you’re most likely use too, when you think of a Sakusa. Unless you’re in her office she’s very excitable,” smiled Hiko. “Tell us Atsu is Kiyo still batting with his germ thing,” asked Kanna. “Uh a little. He’s gotten better but he still likes things super clean,” explained Atsumu. “I see. Kiyo you haven’t changed a bit,” she chuckled.

“Are you both planning to marry,” asked Ryu and both boys blushed. “I uh… we haven’t talked about it,” said Atsumu. “Kiyoomi at your age you should be looking for a life partner. You shouldn’t just be fooling around,” said Ryu. “Geez way to kill the mood Ryu,” sighed Kanna. “I do plan to marry Atsumu,” Kiyoomi finally replied and Atsumu gasped. “Really Omi,” he almost yelled. “Not right now but in our future yes,” said Kiyoomi clearly embarrassed. “Don’t worry Atsu if you and Kiyoomi don’t work out you can always come to me,” she whispered and Atsumu thought his heart was gunna explode before Kiyoomi walked over and pulled him to the other side of the couch. “He’s mine Kanna,” glared Kiyoomi. “I know I know. I just like seeing you jealous. You’re adorable Kiyo. I’ve never see you this protective,” she smiled.

“Kanna means well. She just likes to make people squirm,” said Hiku. “To be fair, I wouldn’t come between you and my brother. Im so happy Kiyo found someone. It’s hard to date genuine people when the name Sakusa is associated with money. But you seem like you really love our brother,” she explained. “I would never hurt Omi. Plus he’s frugal as hell. Wouldn’t even lend me a dollar,” teased Atsumu. “Kiyoomi,” gasped Kanna. “He was going to buy banana taffy,” said Kiyoomi. “What’s wrong with that,” asked Hiko. “This dumb ass is allergic to bananas,” Kiyoomi said bluntly. “Yet ya still love me,” smiled Atsumu making Kiyoomi rolled his eyes.

“Atsumu, tell me. Is volleyball your only priority. Did you go to college,” asked Ryu. “Our parents will be asking these kinds of questions. Ryu means well in prepping you. He’s been the most worried for our baby brother,” replied Hiku and Ryu huffed looking away as a slight blush creeped onto his cheeks. “Uh I didn’t go to college physically. I actually got an online degree,” smiled Atsumu. Kiyoomi looked at Atsumu confused. He’s never heard this. Atsumu never once mentioned it. Usually he’d brag about every accomplishment but why not this one. Was he lying? “Oh what did you study,” asked Ryu. “I got a bachelors degree in mathematics. More specifically Chartered Accountancy. I did internships when the Jackles have time off,” smiled Atsumu and Kiyoomi’s jaw dropped. He looked shocked. “That’s incredible. Why at degree,” asked Ryu impressed. “We’ll my brother own’s his own business and I’ve always been really good with numbers. So figured I could help him out with that degree since he already got a business degree. Didn’t wanna double up ya know,” Atsumu explained.

“Why so shocked Kiyo. You didn’t know,” asked Kanna. Atsumu looked up to see Kiyoomi looking dumbstruck like he was still trying to understand what Atsumu just said. “No, Atsumu why didn’t you ever tell me,” asked Kiyoomi. “It wasn’t a secret Omi. I have my degree hung up in Samu’s restaurant next to his. Plus I told ya I ain’t dumb. Why do you think Akaashi, comes to visit Bokuto and I’s dorm when you first joined the Jackles,” laughed Atsumu. “To visit Bokuto…,” said Kiyoomi like it was obvious. “during tax season with papers and shit,” said Atsumu and Kiyoomi started thinking about it. “Nope you should’ve told me,” said Kiyoomi. “Sorry Omi. Next time I’ll tell ya,” chuckled. Atsumu

“You could have helped me with my studies,” said Kiyoomi. “We weren’t dating then. Plus I’m too distracting,” teased Atsumu and Ryu cleared his throat. “With a degree and experience like that we could use you at my company,” said Ryu. “Or mine,” said Hiku. “Atsumu could join mine,” smirked Kanna. “Oh uh,” said Atsumu getting flustered. “He’s not quitting volleyball. Back off,” glared Kiyoomi. “Volleyball isn’t forever Kiyoomi. Think of your future,” sighed Ryu. “Hey it’s fine. They’re still young,” said Hiku. “Young, and doing what they love, with who they love. What a dream,” smiled Kanna dreamingly.

“Kiyoomi I’m glad you’re happy,” smiled Hiku. “Yes as much as we are tough on you. We do care. Our parents are just holding up a standard. If it helps I’m sure they’ll approve of Atsumu,” explained Ryu. “Mother and Father have the best intentions but are a little sharp around the edges,” sighed Kanna. “Don’t you mean rough,” said Atsumu. “No they’ll cut you down like nothing,” said Kiyoomi and Atsumu gulped. “Plus Kiyoomi is the baby of the family. Ryu and Kanna set the bar pretty high,” said Hiku. “Hey don’t sell yourself short. Your going to be a father soon,” smiled Kanna. “That’s true, but I missed out on a contract for the family business. If it wasn’t for Ryu finding a work around I’d be on deep water,” sighed Hiku.

“Atsumu don’t worry if you get overwhelmed. Remember that you’re prioritizing Kiyo’s happiness not our parents. That’s important,” said Kanna. “Especially since Kiyoomi makes his own money. If they cut him off I’m sure you’ll be fine,” said Ryu. “Thanks but family is super important to me. I don’t wanna be the reason Omi’s parents won’t talk to him,” said Atsumu squeezing Kiyoomi’s hand. Kiyoomi looking back him with a small smile.

Soon a bell rang. “Ah they’re back. Lunch is ready,” said Kanna standing up. “Let’s not keep them waiting,” said Ryu already walking towards the door. “It’s show time Omi,” said Atsumu feeling the same rush he has before a big game. Here we go. They all walked to the dinning room. Doors being opened for them. That’s when Atsumu saw them. Standing by the table. Kiyoomi’s parents looked at the group walking in. Atsumu felt eyes on him. The atmosphere feeling tense as the temperature dropped. He felt like he just walked into the mouth of a tiger. He gulped. “Kiyoomi,” smiled his mother walking up to him. Giving him a quick greeting hug. Then she looked at Atsumu. Her onyx eyes burning into his. She wasn’t a tall women but the energy she gave off was intimating.

“Hello mother, this is my partner. His name is Atsumu Miya,” said Kiyoomi. Atsumu needed to say something. He needs to beat his nerves or he’d in theory fumble the ball and loose the point. “Nice to meet ya Ma’am,” smiled Atsumu as he hugged her and everyone in the room froze. Kanna covered her smiling mouth. The other sibling shocked at the confidence. Atsumu let go to see Kiyoomi’s mother look taken back. Atsumu moved in for the kill. “And I though Omi was the best looking in the family,” said Atsumu. There was a moment of silence before She cracked a half smile surprising everyone. “Nice to meet you Atsumu,” she said before turning and walking back to her husband. Atsumu was on high adrenaline. He moved to Kiyoomi’s father before the other could stop him. “Nice to meet you Sir,” said Atsumu as he bowed.

“Pleasure. I have some questions to ask. Everyone sit down,” Kiyoomi’s father said and everyone moved to sit down. Kiyoomi and Atsumu infront of the parents. They asked the expected school questions Ryu already asked. Kiyoomi’s father was impressed with Atsumu’s degree. “Why would you go through all the trouble of having that degree and not using it,” he asked and the air immediately got tense. “Because volleyball is important to me. It’s something I love and worked hard for. Both yer son and I are going to the Olympics. We’re good at what we do. The degree is so I can do my part to help my family. Family is extremely important to me. I didn’t have to choose between volleyball and a good career. I have the ability, that with hard work I can do both,” explained Atsumu. Kiyoomi’s father nodded. “I see,” he said dryly.

“Atsumu speaking on family, what is your thoughts on children,” asked Kiyoomi’s mother. “I’m well we haven’t talked about it much. But I want a big family. I may not be able to give Kiyoomi biological children, but I want to adopt as many as I can. I love kids,” smiled Atsumu and Kiyoomi’s mother showed a small smile. “Miya I’ll tell you that when Kiyoomi said he had a partner I was skeptical. I was sure this was a front. I have a lot of reasonable expectations. When Kiyoomi told us about you I did my own investigation,” his father explained. “You were spying on him,” glared Kiyoomi. “I wanted to make sure Miya weren’t using you for money. I just wanted to check on the Miya family. Nothing incriminating of course. Everything was legal and public information. I have to say that you didn’t meet expectations. I was worried you were some, excuse my words, a country hick. What would make Kiyoomi fall for you. However today I got my answer,” he continued. “Welcome to the family Atsumu,”smiled his mother. Kiyoomi and his siblings were shocked. No one they’ve ever brought home was ever accepted this quickly.

Atsumu smiled brightly. “Thank you so much! I’m glad to be a part of it,” Atsumu said cheerfully. “You should thank your brother for putting you in such high regard,” replied his father and Atsumu paused. “Samu?,” said Atsumu confused. “I had a meeting run long and my colleagues and I stopped inside Onigiri Miya. I got talking with the owner and told him if Atsumu Miya was related to him. Since I rembered the name from Kiyoomi’s teammates. Let’s say he loves you very much,” said Kiyoomi’s father. “Atsumu let me be clear. You’ve had our approval far before you both were even dating,” said His mother and everyone got confused. “What do ya mean. Ya psychic,” asked Atsumu. “You don’t remember me,” She asked. Atsumu squinted. “Uh sorry Ma’am I don’t,” said Atsumu. “How about now,” she said pulling out a beautiful floral silk scarf from her pocket and put it around her head. Atsumu then gasped. “Omg that was you,” he said shocked. “Mind filling me in,” asked Kiyoomi. “Yes I’m dying over here. This is like a kdrama,” said Kanna. “You’re a child,” sighed Ryu. “And you’re boring and ugly. Pick a struggle,” she sassed. “Please stop you two,” sighed Hiku.

“Uh well. I just helped her a little,” said Atsumu embarrassed. “A little? You helped a lot. You see I was traveling through the Hyogo Prefecture a year or so ago. We had a work conference in the local hotel. I was walking through the market. I just wanted some time by myself. I was headed back when it suddenly started to rain. I didn’t even have a jacket. I chose to walk that day so the car wasn’t close. This young man saw and ran up to me with his umbrella, he wouldn’t take no for an answer and walked me all the way back to the hotel. Even giving me his jacket and getting soaked for a stranger. All with a big smile on his face. He wouldn’t accept payment and let me keep the umbrella. He said if his mother was in this situation he’d hoped someone would help her,” she explained.

Kiyoomi was stunned. He looked at Atsumu who looked flustered. He didn’t expect any of this. “So you’re fine with our relationship. That I’m gay,” asked Kiyoomi. “Kiyoomi let me be clear. We can’t control whom you fall in love with. Im not thrilled your a homosexual, however for Miya I will look past it. Now let’s eat,” said His father. “No no, not let’s eat. You can’t look past who I am. What if Miya and I don’t work out. What then,” snapped Kiyoomi. “Then Miya will still be invited to all our family gatherings. You’ll have to get use to seeing him everywhere. Better make it work,” he shrugged. “Kiyoomi you know we love you. It’s just a bonus you brought home such an acceptable young man,” said his mother. “Give it up Kiyoomi that’s as close as you’re going to get,” said Ryu. “Fine,” he scowled. “So can I call ya Ma and Pa,” smiled Atsumu “No-,”

“Of course,” smiled Kiyoomi’s mother interrupting Kiyoomi’s father. “See Omi I told ya parents love me,” smiled Atsumu. Digging into the meal placed in front of them. “I guess I was worried for nothing,” said Kiyoomi taking a bite. They all finished lunch and soon they all parted ways. “I can’t wait till ya meet my family next,” smiled Atsumu buckling himself in the car. “I’ve met them already,” said Kiyoomi putting the car in drive. “Ya haven’t met my Ma. Samu doesn’t count,” Atsumu replied. “Can’t wait,” said Kiyoomi. “I can tell when yer sarcastic. They’ll love you,” said Atsumu. “When we told your brother we were dating he threatened me and his boyfriend recorded the whole thing,” said Kiyoomi. “That’s how Samu shows love. He only threatens those he cares about,” said Atsumu and Kiyoomi rolled his eyes. “I’m glad everything went well though. Even if it didn’t. I’d cut off the world for you. I’d marry you even if the world burned,” whispered Kiyoomi. “What was that Omi,” asked Atsumu not catching it. “I said your cooking dinner tonight,” he replied. “Omi I cooked last night,” whined Atsumu as they drove home.
