Spray Paint My Heart

Summary:

after hobie sees some of miles’ work he gets interested and miles decides to show him a few things

Work Text:

Miles was hyper aware of Hobie’s eyes on the back of his head as he waited for the few people at the station to clear. Just a few more minutes and then they should leave and the two would be safe to walk down onto the tracks unnoticed.

Oblivious to what he was waiting for exactly, Hobie must’ve been thinking about what the fuck Miles was doing. I mean sure he’d been the one to ask about the graffiti but since Miles had forgotten to say what they were doing and Hobie hadn’t asked about it either he wasn’t sure if he should bring it up.

Finally, the last couple of people had either left or were too engrossed with their phones to notice the pair. So, after he quickly looked around Miles jumped down onto the tracks.

He turned to Hobie behind him, “C’mon man, before some train comes” At that he jumped down after him and looked at Miles expectantly. “Where to now mate?”

Miles turned back to the tracks and started walking, “Just down here I wanna show you something cool.”

Laughing quietly Hobie followed in suit down the dark tunnels, twisting and turning underneath the city above. The air was thick with silence save for the noise of their shoes on the floor and whatever was in Miles’ bag rattling.

“Am I allowed to ask what we’re doing or is that against the rules?”

“Man I thought you knew or something, I’m taking you to the best spot in Brooklyn.”

“Oh really?” Hobie smirked at him, kicking a rock along the tracks as he did so.

“Yeah ‘course dude,” Miles grinned back, “It’s my favourite place to paint.”

“And how did you come to find this place? Just taking a walk through the underground?”

“Oh uh- you know just Spider-Man stuff.” He said as he took a sharp turn and shone his phone light over a tall gate.

“C’mon it’s just past here.” Miles said over his shoulder, making his way towards the gate. Quickly he climbed up and swung himself over, dropping down on the other side then turning and looking expectantly at Hobie.

Grinning widely, he hopped the gate and landed next to Miles. “Right show me this amazing spot then?”

“Yeah this way dude”

Silence fell over the pair once again as they drew closer, suddenly Miles turned into an entrance way to what Hobie had assumed were more tunnels.

He reached up to the switch on the wall and suddenly light shone over the walls and floor, showing off a wide range of art, from small tags to large murals, the place was filled with bits of Miles’ life.

Hobie looked across to him and smiled, “Do I get to see you in action or is this just a gallery?”

Miles let out a snort and swung his bag down and unzipped it, revealing a few cans of paint. “‘Course, I’m not gonna drag you all the way down here just to see some old stuff.”

“Well then take it away Van Gough, I can’t wait to see your masterpiece.”
