Work Text:
Pain accompanies Nika on the first day.
Later, when the pain ebbs, she will thank Norea for the beating. Pain was a respite. Guilt takes its place on the second day, sharp and insistent and almost unbearable. It remains by Nika's side for a week before allowing uncertainty and loss their go at her. Eventually depression settles in at Nika's side, but guilt remains a frequent visitor, returning when Sabina tends to Nika's wounds, when Norea whimpers Sophie's name in her sleep.
As Nika recovers, she watches Norea. She considers provoking another beating. Pain is a softer companion than guilt.
