Work Text:
it feels strange.
watching andrew’s deft fingers strum the guitar strings, noticing his chipped black nails, brows furrowed in concentration, and realizing how much adoration neil has for him feels surreal.
moments like this always do.
it’s a rainy day; the sky’s gloomy and the trees are greener than usual. a hazy fog settles over the wet grass and in neil’s brain as he settles his head further into his arms. today’s a good day, lying on andrew’s bed in his cozy room, kicking his feet lazily as his lover plays him a few random songs. he smiles as andrew begins humming along to one particular song, his little habit causing something within him to blossom in his chest and make it harder to breathe.
he loves him.
he loves him so much it overwhelms him and he thinks that he needs to kiss him right now.
he clumsily kicks his shoes off and sits up onto his knees, causing andrew to look away from his strumming and raise a pierced brow. neil blinks rapidly, hands fisted up and his words choking him. a soft red tinge rises to his cheeks as andrew stares knowingly.
“yes or no?”
the corner of andrew’s lips tilts upwards and he nods, leaning forward and meeting neil’s lips halfway. its soft and sweet, no urgency and just pure adoration.
the rain patters quietly against the roof and the smell of vanilla incense drifts through the air. andrew’s everywhere and it has neil intoxicated.
his long blonde hair, usually curled behind his ears, shifts and falls forward, tickling neil’s face. hands tap a question onto neil’s scarred ones and he nods just slightly, not breaking their kiss. andrew’s hands find their way to neil’s face and his fingers linger on his chin as he pulls away gently, “yes for me too.”
his voice is quiet, as if he’s scared to break the silence. neil pecks the corner of his lips, then his nose, and glides his fingers up, up, and onto his shoulders.
his chest is blooming with warmth; it almost makes him want to scrunch into a ball and lie next to andrew until the end of time.
