Chapter Text

"Hey! Are you ok?"

My eyes open in my still drowsy state. The last thing I remember was being in a classroom meeting my new classmates. Now a person with a mess of white hair leans over me and slowly comes into focus once the sleep is rubbed out of my eyes.

"I-I maybe... I dunno..." I mutter, trying to answer the question, unable to piece together a decent response in the fog that clouds my mind. The sun blaring down on me didn’t help my thoughts.

"Ah! At least one of you is awake!" He offers his hand and I accept warily . He pulls me up with a bit of effort. I make sure I have a steady footing then busy myself with wiping the sand from my clothes and limbs, frustrated how it always sticks to me, not even recognizing my change of scenery or questioning why there was now sand all over me.. Once done, I look around me, recognizing a sunny beach as the new setting.

I bring my attention to the boy who had helped me up,"Do you know where my brother may be? His name is Hajime? Hajime Hinata?" I question quickly. I know Hajime was last with me and he should know what's going on.
"Uh, I think so? Is this him?" The boy points to a body that was laying next to me a few seconds ago. I recognize the slightly messy brown hair and chunky ahoge immediately.

"Yes! Hajime! Are you ok?" I kneel down and lightly slap his face, quickly looking up at the other person, "Is he still-"

"Yes. He is still alive. I made a point to check both of your pulse's." He says, kneeling down next to me to observe Hajime.

"Ah. That's good then. Thank you for caring about us. I'm YN Hinata!” I do a small wave as a greeting, still feeling quite awkward with this new person.

"Oh! And what's your talent?" The dude seems eager to know more about me- neglecting to even tell me his name

"Uh- I don't- I don't remember..." I mutter, scratching my head.

"It's ok if you don't remember! You and that other dude we're a little out of it." He says in a reassuring manner.

“That's Hajime- he's my twin by the way.” I comment, looking down at his still sleeping body. He better wake up soon or he might just get a faceful of sand from me.

"Oh! Forgot to introduce myself! I'm Nagito Komedea, the ultimate lucky student! Nice to meet you, YN!" I smile and offer my hand to shake his. He accepts, and while we wait for my brother to wake up we chat a bit.

After a while, Hajime stirred a bit and Nagito went over to him, leaning over Hajime like he did to me.

"Hey... Are you alright?" Nagito asks Hajime

They chat for a quick second while I watch Hajimes reaction from afar. He seems confused and nervous and vaguely angry- I'm not all that surprised though. He's usually irritated at something.

"Hey, have you seen a girl about yay tall with HC hair and-" My ears finally pick up what Hajime is saying. He lifts up his hand and grossly underestimates my height.
"Right there. Yn Hinata." Nagito points over to me and Hajime jumps up, striding over to me.

"Hajime! I thought you were dead for a moment. But Nagito said you werent- Im glad youre awake now though.” I smile, disappointed I missed the chance to throw sand on my sleeping brother.

"YN. Geez. Thanks for being so worried." He says sarcastically, rolling his eyes at me.

"Why are we here? What's going on?" he turns his attention to the new problem at hand. Hajime takes a moment to look around and survey our immediate surroundings.

We both glance at Nagito hoping he knows more than me about this situation.
"We currently seem to be on an island but I'm not sure of the reason. Either way, I'm Nagito Komedea!" Nagito introduces himself once again, his hand shooting out to shake Hajimes.

Nagito told us about the others who were scattered around the island and suggested we go talk to them. I went along with Hajime and Nagito and met the others, but the good feeling of meeting new people only disappeared with the announcement of the killing game.

“A killing game? Where's Hajime?” I ask aloud to anyone who would listen.

Behind me I need to confirm it's real. My body felt like it was in a sudden overdrive. Overwhelmed to the point of hardly being able to move.
In a sudden movement, I turned around to go to Hajime, but I tripped and the person behind me ended up catching me. I grabbed them and hugged them and held on, my face buried in their chest. My chest heaved as it tightened on itself and my body wanted to reject any air trying to get in my lungs. Their hands came up and quickly held me close to them, a small feeling of safety seemed to protect me from the reality of the situation, helping my chest loosen as I came to terms with what was my new reality.
I wait until Monokuma is gone before I peek my head up again. I see the person that was holding onto me was Nagito. He seemed just as shaken as I was; his skin even paler now and a tense feeling in his attitude.

"Nagito- W-Wheres Hajime??" I ask, not phased at the previous close quarters we were in.

"Ah? Oh he's right there." Nagito gestures to the left of him where Hajime was glaring daggers at Nagito. I ran to him and grabbed onto him, slightly shaking him as I talked.
"Hajime- I don't want to kill anyone. I don't want to be killed! What if you get hurt or Killed!?"

That's when the flood gates broke. I just started sobbing. That was all I could do at that moment. It was settled, we were going to have to murder someone to leave this otherwise beautiful place.
