Work Text:
Kelly reached out and touched her sister's shoulder so she wouldn't startle her. Connie stood on the walkway atop the gate, gaze focused on the distance, watching for walkers or climbers.
'I thought I'd find you here,' Kelly signed as Connie turned to her.
Connie peeled her gaze away from the road leading away from Alexandria and smiled at her sister.
'What's up?' She asked Kelly.
Kelly smiled. 'I should be asking you that question. Something's going on with you.'
Connie frowned and began signing until her sister reached out and laid her palms on her hands.
'It's nothing bad; you've just been acting different.'
Connie couldn't help but smile.
'I didn't think you noticed.'
Kelly returned the expression.
'You can't hide anything from me, sis.'
Connie shook her head.
'So tell, what's up?'
Connie's eyes slid to the side, glancing back over the wall.
Trying to read her sister's mind, Kelly suggested, 'Daryl's coming back.'
Connie looked at her and signed, 'I know. I just hope he comes back in time to meet the baby.'
For a moment Kelly's hands froze and then she quickly signed, 'what baby?'
Connie placed her hands on her stomach, still flat yet.
Kelly's eyes widened, "Your baby?"
Her sister smiled, nodded.
'How far along are you? When did this happen? Why didn't you tell me?'
Kelly pulled her sister into a tight hug, laughing.
Connie held her sister at arm's length and then began signing.
'The night we retook Alexandria. It just kind of happened. I don't think either of us planned it.'
Kelly hugged her sister again.
'Daryl will be back before you know it. For you and the baby.'
