Savior [NEZUKO/READER ONESHOT]

Summary:

A silent way of healing wounds, the time spent with her was like a medicine of its own. And you’d ask for it a thousand times over, even if it couldn’t stop the pain in your head.

Work Text:

Your katana plunged into your shoulder. You felt the skin and muscle break as it was dragged through down to your ribs. Blood spilled rapidly from the wound as your hands grasped the katana blade. You choked on your scream, tears threatened to spill, and you began to taste the hot iron in your mouth. The demon in front of you was grinning maniacally as your knees gave out, leaving you to bend down.

This was going to hurt.

You moved your hands up to the hilt of the katana. You needed to get away from the demon, but to do that you needed your sword out of you. You had a better chance at survival. Your hands shook as you gripped the hilt, choking back a sob. The demon stared, eyes mixed with amusement and confusion. You inhaled as deep as you could, but even as you gritted your teeth and attempted to breathe calmly, the inhumane scream was unkempt as the sword was torn out of you. You fell forwards, the katana falling to the ground was blood rushed out of your wounds. Your breathing became uneven, ragged, gasping for some sort of relief as your body shook.

The demon looked down at you, pausing for a moment before bursting into a sharp laughter. You heard as it began to say something, but the words were inconceivable. Ringing was in your ears, in your head, you wanted to clasp your hands over your face and cry. However, you were immobile, stuck as the blood drained from your body. The talking was cut off by a blood piercing screech, and you forced as much strength in you to look up. Tears formed in your eyes.

Nezuko. You tried to speak, your chest contorted into a ball of pain like you had been stabbed again. You cried out as you moved your hand over it, tears beginning to fall down your cheeks. Nezuko bent down, gentle hands grasping your shoulders. Your body gave out and you fell forwards, her catching you on her shoulder. You felt her reposition you, every motion making you feel like fire was burning throughout your entire body. She wrapped an arm across your back, hooking another below your knees as she carried you bridal style. She held you close to her chest with a strong yet gentle grip, trying to rock you as little as possible. Your head rested on her shoulder, your vision blurry and spotted. You felt tears constantly roll down your face, felt the blood that soaked through your clothes, tasted the pool of blood forming at your mouth. As Nezuko tried to navigate the rooftops and jump down towards the others, your vision snapped shut, and you were plunged into darkness.

A warmth held your hand captive. Everything smelled like a hospital, your head was pounding. A constant throb encased your shoulder and chest. When you opened your eyes you winced at the bright light, squinting them closed again. The warmth left your head and a hand grabbed your cheek softly, turning it sideways. Nezuko leaned over the edge of your bed, holding a railing with one hand as the other held your face. You brought your own hand up to your face, whining at the pain it brought as your hand rested it atop hers.

Her face looked so worried, so genuinely worried. It made you sick that you were who caused it. You felt the burning of tears again. You saw alarm flicker in Nezuko’s eyes as she moved a hand over and tried wiping them from your eyes. You smiled softly, you would have laughed if you could do so without intense pain. She leaned forwards, touching your forehead with her own as she hummed contently. You exhaled, grateful for the silence. You had questions, of course, but you also had a splitting headache. Someone would come in, surely. Shinobu, Aoi, perhaps another medical apprentice. But for now, Nezuko would suffice.

A silent way of healing wounds, the time spent with her was like a medicine of its own. And you’d ask for it a thousand times over, even if it couldn’t stop the pain in your head.
