Chapter Text
Jackie Akachi was like most young individuals, as he was a huge fan of heroes. And he had put that to use in his teen years, as he had been an interviewer for a few different heroes for almost a year. But he hadn’t gotten a job as big as the one he was assigned to now. He was interviewing three heroes who happened to work at the agency of Japan’s new Number 1 hero, Endeavor. Sure, he would’ve liked to interact with some of the heavy hitters in that agency. But the three heroes he was assigned to were interesting enough, as they were previously known for participating in the UA Hero School’s Sports Festival. And Jackie couldn’t wait to see what he had in store.
As Jackie was directed to the floor level where the three heroes would be at, he looked at his list order of the interviews he was going to conducting. First up was the half-cold, half-hot hero Shoto Todoroki, after that was the explosive Katsuki Bakugo, and the final interview was going to be with Izuku Midoriya. Jackie made his way to the first training room, as he felt a mixture of coolness and warmness. This felt like a given of the first person on his list. The door was open just a little and Jackie saw the fire and ice of Shoto. It seemed as if the hero was using the two quirks to propel himself and to attack the training drones. Half of them were taken out with ice and the other half was flamed out. A spark landed on Jackie’s notepad and briefly caught fire, but he blew it out quickly.
“Y-you don’t happen to be Shoto Todoroki, right?” Jackie asked with a nervous laugh.
Shoto turned to look as he replied, “Yeah, I am. What’s up?”
Jackie’s confidence shot up as he finished checking his notepad for any damages as he continued, “I’m a reporter for a hero magazine, and I’m interviewing you and two other heroes for next month’s issue!”
The hero nodded as he cleared the training room of the mess made and said, “Okay. I guess you’re going to ask a question and I’m going to answer it?”
“Yup,” Jackie said, “I don’t have a lot of time, so we can get started! First up, I assume your quirk is a fire and ice combination right?”
Todoroki responded, “Yes, the ice powers come from my right side and the fire from the left.”
Jackie wrote that down, as he said, “Cool. Anything you can tell us about what you’ve been working on quirk-wise? Nothing personal, obviously.”
“I’m doing my best to combine both sides, after having trained with one side for most of the time. I’m not going to give specifics, but I’m definitely making progress,” the hero said.
“Ah, vague. But still informative, right?” the interviewer replied with a laugh.
Shoto didn’t exactly return the feeling of fun conversation. The guy definitely wasn’t a big talker to begin with, or at least from what Jackie could infer. But he wasn’t like other people who’d want to push others into giving information like other nosy interviewers, but he did feel like it would be a bit of a disappointment. Especially since he was running out of time. But then Akachi got an idea.
“Hey, I’m going to be interviewing Katsuki Bakugo and Izuku Midoriya after this, what can you say about them?” Jackie asked.
He could see that Todoroki was thinking about his response for a minute, before the hero said, “Well, I helped them get recruited into the Endeavor Agency. And they’re both extremely different from each other. Bakugo’s definitely…tough to work with sometimes, but he gets things done. As for Midoriya, he’s enthusiastic and he’s a much different hero compared to someone like me or Bakugo. He’s a lot easier to work with as well.”
Just then, Jackie’s timer rang as he finished writing down what Shoto had said. “Cool, thanks! It was a pleasure to meet and interview you, Shoto,” Jackie said as he exited the training room.
