Chapter Text
It had been a month since Bonnie had suddenly disappeared. Everyone was so sad by it, but it hit harder for Freddy than anyone else. While it took Chica only a few days to mourn till she could work properly again, it took Freddy nearly two weeks. Roxy was heartbroken, but not nearly as bad as the other two. She was mostly curious on who would replace him. Sun didn't know him too well, neither did Moon.
The soon got their answer on who would replace Bonnie, and that was Montgomery Gator. He had been around for a while but was kept away from the main group of animatronics for some reason. Everyone clicked with him, especially Sun and Roxy. Chica and Moon got along with him well too, but for some reason, Freddy kept his distance from him. The group assumed that maybe it was over Bonnie being replaced so quickly or maybe it was because Freddy was still barely able to keep up a show without showing some grief. But Chica and Sun really wanted the two to get along, so what was a better plan then to get everyone together and play some golf!
"HOLE IN ONE!" Sun shouted loudly.
Monty just grunted at that statement. "That ain't no hole in one!" He told the sun animatronic. Monty did not understand why Sun was the one to suggest golf when he clearly did not know how to play. "You took like eighteen tries! Aren't I right Fredbear?" He nudged Freddy. They had told the two why the decided to all play golf together before hand, and Monty had no major problems with it. Freddy seemed nice with everyone else and to him while they interacted. But the bear always kept his space from him, which made the alligator nervous. Not to mention that sometimes it seemed like the bear kept staring at him, which must have caused Monty to see his white part of the bear's eyes turn black for a moment.
Freddy took one step away from Monty, "You are right, but please do not call me Fredbear." Glamrock Freddy replied in a fake cheery tone. Monty felt odd to him, but not because he was new. He felt odd because of how easily the company replaced Bonnie for him. It was so strange, yet Freddy felt like he should have expected it by now. He did not understand why, none of his friends have ever been replaced before! Maybe it was because Bonnie has never been replaced before. Ever since Fredbear's Family Diner, a version of Freddy and Bonnie always existed, but not now. It made the robot wonder who else could be replaced. He always thought this when he was near Monty, and he did like thinking about these kinds of things, so he stayed away from him.
"Aww, what wrong with the name Fredbear?" Roxy cooed at him from behind. Roxy found it so strange how Freddy didn't like certain things. For example, he had a strong hatred for the Ennard cut out near their rooms. He also disliked like burnt pasta too, not by taste, but just by looking at it. The bear had also mentioned how he found ice cream scoopers weirdly disturbing. But now the nickname Fredbear? Sure, it was their origins, but why hate the name because of it?
"Leave him alone Roxy!" Chica scolded, "Sometimes a nickname is just not the right suit for a person, right Eclipse?" She called to Sun. The sun and moon robot hated that nickname because when ever the two would glitch in dim lights, it always seemed painful to everyone else. But this lead to some people calling then Eclipse, which the two despised. Though, Chica couldn't make sense on why Freddy hated the name Fredbear.
Sun grumbled upon hearing the name, but Monty turned his head towards Freddy, "It ain't no trouble if you don't like the name Freddy!" Monty comforted. He really wanted to be friends with him, but it was starting to get on his nerves how hard it was to not in some way upset the bear. He felt like the only way he could get him to like him was to bring back Bonnie, which he couldn't.
The group kept playing their game after that, but the two who were supposed to be talking just weren't. So the three other robots decided to spilt everyone up, which Sun, Chica, Roxy playing with the bucket and the other two playing golf. However, it didn't work as intended. The two just didn't talk the entire time and Freddy kept trying to shimmy away from him. That was until Monty spoke.
"Freddy, please just tell me what I'm doin' to make you not even want to be near me." Monty asked sternly. He just wanted to know at this point. He wanted to know why the animatronic who supposedly got along with everyone was struggling to even be near him! "If ya' do, I'll see if I can get the other three to leave ya' alone.
Freddy just blinked at him. He really messed up, didn't he? He did not want Monty to think he hated him! How could he had been so oblivious to this? "Monty, you are not doing anything wrong." He answered back.
"Then why do you always avoid me or stare at me from a distance?"
Glamrock Freddy sighed, "Because when I see you, I wonder how replaceable we truly are."
Monty was prepared for anything about himself. That he got angry to fast, that he too destructive, that he was too rough, but he was not ready for that. He didn't even know they were allowed to think that honestly. But he wanted to know why Freddy thought that.
"Why do you think that Freddy?" He asked, "Especially you, I mean, you are the mascot. They could never get rid of you!"
Freddy turned his head toward Monty, starring him deep in his eyes. Monty could have sworn that his eyes turned black, with his iris turning a bright neon blue for a moment. "I thought that about Bonnie too." He admitted, "But I was clearly wrong." He felt sure that tears were forming in his eyes, but that was impossible! They were physically unable to cry!
Monty was befuddled, "Why would they ever replace you?" After all, he was the mascot, and he was basically perfect in the company's eyes! There was no sensible reason for him to be replaced.
"Because I feel like at any moment I could kill a child after Bonnie went away." He responded bluntly, "That whenever I preform, I get scared that blood will be on my hands and a child's head would be bit off." He explained, "Also because anytime I hear that yellow bear's name, I feel as though that I am not me and that I am someone else, someone that is never and would never be me." Freddy had begun crying now, it was a strange black liquid that was not oil. It seemed to come endlessly from his eyes and his eyes were now black with those weird neon irises. "I miss Bonnie, I am broken in some way they cannot find out, I feel like I hate this company, but I am loyal to it! I-I-I do not know anymore, I do not know if my friends are next!" He sobbed, "I am worried about you all." He admitted finally.
Monty then began to hug the slightly taller bear. Freddy was right about something during his rant, he was clearly broken, but seemingly mentally. Also, slightly physically. It made sense why he didn't go near Monty now too, because if Monty had these thoughts near Freddy, he would keep his distance too. "It's gonna be okay, you big bear." He comforted, "They ain't gonna get rid of any of us soon."
"I'm sorry for making you think I hated you." He added.
"Don't be." The alligator responded, "Sidenote, you say sorry too much."
"Sorry." He stated back to that.
"Oh God, don't chu start that."
Freddy let go of the Monty, his tears now seemingly gone. He then looked at Monty again, "Maybe we could try being friends. What do you think?" He responded in a genuinely cheery tone, but not as happy as he once was. "Also, do not tell Parts and Services. I do not want to be scrapped."
"Sure to both of those things."
The two then heard cheers coming from above them. Their plan had worked! But they really do need to help Freddy in some way, because he could not be preforming while thinking he'll accidentally kill a child.
