Work Text:

soft petals brush against soft hands and a giggle sounds from their left, drawing their golden gaze.

“it’s so pretty!” and she laughs again, twirling under falling cherry blossoms.
“you match,” they hum, having reached up to cradle one of the blooming flowers, admiring it.

then she’s there, at their side, smiling up at them like they’re something precious.

“you’re prettier,” eden adds after a heartbeat, letting their arm fall with a smile. elysia gasps and then grins again, leaning further into the singer with another laugh.
“you’re pretty too eden!”

they hum and smile, letting the compliment settle in their chest with a warm glow. ellie catches sight of something then and eden watches as her eyes light up, expecting it when the elf twines their fingers together and tugs insistently.

eden follows, without hesitation.

the ground beneath their feet changes from stone to wood and the sound of gentle water reaches their ears. elysia leans forwards, braced against the railing, in awe of the river.

you could barely see the water beneath, pink sakura blossoms covering the surface in its entirety.

“i love it,” ellie confesses and eden can only think i love you when she pulls them closer simply because she can. eden clears their throat and reaches up to brush pink strands of hair from the elf’s cheek, pressing a light kiss there.
“i’m glad. this is for you, after all,”
“all you do is spoil me…” she says, pouting, but eden can see the smile tugging at the edges of her lips and it doesn’t take long before she’s grinning, leaning up to kiss the other.
“you deserve it,” they mumble when ellie breaks away and rocks back off her tiptoes, feet flat on the floor.

eden watches the blush on her cheeks blend with all the pink, thinks it’s so, so fitting. they adore the colour, the blooming cherry blossoms, the way elysia’s hair slips through their hands when they kiss.

they click their tongue and laugh, stumbling forwards to pull their partner into a spin; a half hearted impromptu dance.

elysia laughs too and it’s their favourite sound, really.

eden slides their arm around her waist and then the two are truly dancing. the bridge is their stage, the fading sunlight filtering through all the petals and leaves as their light and the blossom-covered river as a fitting backdrop.

“…it’s going to be dark soon,” ellie points out, following eden’s lead.
“the streetlights will turn on soon, we can stay till then,” they reply, resting their forehead against the elf’s with a smile. eden wishes they could stay longer, but it’ll get cold before long with the sun down.

there’s nothing but the ambient noise of the streets beyond the park and the river beneath them.

“my good eden,” gold eyes blink open to meet blue and pink ones.
“mm?”
“don’t fall asleep on me,”
“i won’t,”

elysia kisses them and eden chuffs while leaning into her, their dance having turned into more of a sway as the sun set.

“…you make me feel safe,” eden murmurs, not wanting to speak any louder for fear of disrupting the calmness in the air.
“i love you,” she confesses.
“i love you too,”

eden lets their eyes slip shut with a soft sigh, and when they open them again, it’s the familiar sight of their bedroom ceiling back home.

the bed is empty beside them, but there’s a lingering warmth that gives them comfort.

eden shifts, getting up and letting the blankets fall, not caring to fix them for the moment. the singer wipes the sleep from their eyes, barely missing the edge of the door frame as eden steps into the open living area.

gold catches sight of pink sitting at the kitchen counter, quite obviously more awake than them.

“eden! did you sleep well?” elysia asks, smiling. eden can just about recall their dream, even the softness of the petals, and nods.
“did you? oh, where’s—?”
“left for work already, she made breakfast before she left,” the elf motions to the covered plates, having already eaten: the plate in front of her was empty aside from a few crumbs.
“…i was hoping to say goodbye, she’s going on a work trip right?” eden wonders aloud, sliding into a seat opposite the pink-haired woman.

elysia puts her glass down a little roughly and makes a noise that obviously vocalises her distraught. eden lifts an eyebrow at the dramatic whine, biting into a slice of toast.

“she’s going to be gone for a month! maybe more!” the elf is pouting at this point and eden’s thankful for the food so they don’t laugh. their wife’s always been this over the top when it comes to either eden or mobius and the singer can’t help but find it endearing as well as amusing.

“you know she’ll call when she can, ellie,”
“but still!” and eden does laugh this time, leaning over the counter to give their wife a light kiss. admittedly, the singer is a little upset that they slept through mobius leaving, and grumbles over the thought.
“i miss her already,” elysia smiles at them when they speak and agrees, sipping her drink after.

eden pushes their plate away with a hum and watches elysia quietly.

“what?”
“let’s go to japan,” eden announces suddenly.
“japan?” elysia’s ears twitch curiously and eden has the urge to nibble them.
“for cherry blossom season. at the end of march,”

pink and blue eyes glimmer in the light as it casts a warm glow across the open area and eden thinks that the elf looks gorgeous in the sunrise.

elysia nods excitedly, leaning against the counter with a pretty smile. eden returns the smile, nodding too.
“let’s talk to mobius about it when she comes home then,” the singer decides.
“yeah!”
