Work Text:
When Chiaki woke up this morning, she didn’t expect to wake up to bright eyes staring at hers. Furthermore she didn’t expect her girlfriend to even be awake, or if she was, to be in the room. She’s much too hyperactive to sit around in one room, but somehow she has managed it. She also takes in the soft aroma from the other room and pauses. She slowly sits up, rubbing her eyes as she grabs her girlfriend’s hands.
“Did you blow up the kitchen?” She yawns. Ibuki huffs, then giggles.
“That was once! Besides, Ibuki hasn’t done it since.” She assures, kissing her cheek, “But she has made something special!”
“What’s that?”
“It’s a surprise!” Ibuki huffs, “Come on, get up, get up!”
“Mm.. five more minutes..” Chiaki murmurs, half-asleep against her pillow again. Ibuki pouts, beginning to make noises with whatever she can find - the glass of stale water on the bedside table, the bedside table, the lamp, clicking her tongue, lightly drumming Chiaki’s face, etcetera. That last one seems to work because Chiaki smacks her with a pillow and huffs, sitting up. “Fine, okay, I’m up.”
“Yay! Ibuki wins!”
“Let me shower before I come into the kitchen, though.” Chiaki warns, before shuffling to the bathroom while Ibuki races out of the room. It’s kind of cute. Chiaki gets to work getting through her normal routine - cleaning her teeth, showering, responding to any texts then getting dressed. She also takes her medication, and calls out of the room into the rest of the apartment, “I’m coming out of the room, is that okay?”
“Yep yep! That’s fine.” Ibuki calls back, “Just um.. you know how you always wanted to sort out the kitchen?”
“What did you do?” Chiaki says in a sigh, quietly coming through the hallway, “Did you actually blow something up?”
“No! Okay, well- maybe- listen!” Ibuki replies, sounding like she’s cluttering pans together. She appears in the hallway, and it’s only now Chiaki is realizing how out of breath she looks. Was that from running down the stairs?
“Ibuki.. did you blow up the kitchen?”
Ibuki glances to the side, and Chiaki immediately knows how much the musician’s been busted. Chiaki steps forward and Ibuki raises a pan dramatically, “Don’t come in! I can fix it!” She says.
“Ibuki.” Chiaki warns sternly. It’s tense for a moment, Chiaki giving her best stern look while Ibuki considers the idea of whacking her and chasing her with a frying pan. Deciding that wouldn’t work, the musician sulks over. Together, they step into the kitchen to be greeted by a large mess, dough splattered everywhere. Though the sweet aroma was still there, Chiaki deduces Ibuki had gotten quite far with it.
Speaking of, the gamer glances at the other, watching her shy away in shame and shuffle to grab a cloth to wipe the counter, “I- Ibuki wanted to bake cookies for you, in order to tell you how much she loves you! And it went a bit wrong..”
“Oh, ‘buki.” Chiaki murmurs, wandering over and pulling her into a hug, “It’s okay, things happen. What happened? Did you have thoughts back to what happened to you?”
“You think that’s what might've happened?” Ibuki asks, to which Chiaki nods, “Oh..that makes more sense to Ibuki. She just knew she had to find you and ch- check your pulse.” She explains. Chiaki squeezes her lightly.
“Yeah, I think that’s what happened. Why don’t we clean this up and then we can go to the bakery and get some cookies? Yeah? Come back here, watch a movie or two, chill out for the day?” She suggests, to which Ibuki smiles and nods, “Alright, I’ll grab the mop, you start on the counters.” She says, turning to the long cupboard and pulling out a mop. She leaves it ready for later, then grabs another cloth and begins to help Ibuki clean up. She pauses after a few minutes, “Hey, why don’t you put some music on?”
“Really?” Ibuki replies, lighting up and bounding over. At Chiaki’s nod she turns on the radio, humming as she begins to clean with vigour, as the gamer chuckles and continues with cleaning her side.
Time passes and the kitchen is cleaned. Chiaki kisses Ibuki’s cheek on her way back towards their bedroom to get her coat and Ibuki shakes her fists around, grinning wildly as she makes sure everything’s locked and ready for them to go outside. Chiaki shakes her keys and Ibuki comes running. The mauvette zips up the musician’s jacket, before holding her hand and walking out the apartment with her, locking the door behind them.
-
“Don’t eat all of them before we get home.” Chiaki says as she swats Ibuki’s hand away from trying to grab her second cookie, “You haven’t even finished that one! Don’t be greedy!”
“Sorry! They’re just so good!” Ibuki replies, and Chiaki promptly flicks her forehead for talking with her mouth full, to which she huffs. They resume a normal walking pace and routine on the way back to their apartment, which they're both eager to get back to for each other’s private company. Chiaki hums lovingly, listening to Ibuki chomp away as they head back.
“You know, I think you’re adorable, Ibuki.”
This time, Ibuki finishes her mouthful, looking down at Chiaki with a giant grin, “Think you have a good grip on that box of cookies?”
“Yeah, probably, why?”
Ibuki responds by picking Chiaki up, grinning and skipping down the pavement back home as she giggles. Chiaki rolls her eyes, holding the box firmly, but other than that she’s pretty fine, having only nearly dropped it once. Ibuki pauses at a crosswalk, humming and looking down at the gamer.
“Ibuki’s gonna carry you like this on our wedding day.”
Chiaki chokes, “What?”
“Yep! Ibuki’s gonna carry you up the aisle! Fun, right?”
Chiaki settles, then smiles, “Fun, yeah. Okay, you can carry me down the aisle. Only if I get to do Just Dance for our Bride Dance.”
Ibuki grins, “Ibuki would love nothing better.”
