Work Text:
They swing through the city, in a constant rhythm, to the point where it would be difficult to tell them apart.
Miles notices how Gwen can fly through the air so natural, as if she were a bird.
Gwen notices how Miles has improved, he’s now a natural Spider-man.
They bounce off buildings, sprint over rooftops, and climb billboards.
Eventually they reach a skyscraper where they let their feet dangle over the edge.
Miles reaches for his backpack and pulls out his sketchpad that Gwen had casually flipped through earlier.
“I don’t think this is my best angle,” Gwen jokes.
Miles laughs, “Just taking this chance to draw the skyline, you’re safe today.”
She watches as the pencil he uses flows along the paper like water. It reminds her of her drumming, something that could come so natural and feels so expressive.
For lack of a better way to explain it, it was the most cathartic thing she could do. She wishes she had a set of drums right now, just to express her joy at seeing Miles.
Well, it was probably more than joy, but she didn’t think she could face that reality at this point.
“You look like you’re deep in thought,” he says to her as she breaks out of her trance.
“Yeah….” She trails off before continuing. “I should show you my drums some time,” she says without a second thought.”
“Random,” Miles says as he smiles, “but I’d love that.”
Gwen suddenly stands up, catching him a little off guard.
“You know, sharing my hobbies, telling you all these things about me, it feels really weird.”
“Why?” he replies.
“Because I feel naked, I feel vulnerable. But the fact that I’m doing in the first place shows how much I care about you I think.”
Wait, she didn’t mean to say that so…strongly.
“Uh Miles, I guess that just came out, what I meant was—”
“I care about you a lot too Gwen. And I know it’s hard. But we don’t have to reveal everything all at once. One step at a time ok?”
She nods and smiles. She grabs his hand as they near the edge.
“Ready to take a leap of faith?” She says.
“I thought you’d never ask.”
