Fingers clicked away at the keyboard as eyes focused on the computer screen, vision blurring slightly from the hours spent on the freelance work. Steps were heard on the stairs leading down to his basement room, creating tension in his body even after he looked up to see Abigail, who instantly started speaking as if he didn’t have any work to do simply because he worked from home. Sebastian took a deep sigh, saying, “I’m working now,” only for this to fall on a death ear as she continued to chat until she left, leaving him saying out loud, “I wish she wouldn’t do that—that everyone wouldn’t ignore that I am trying to get work done.”
