11 first dates

Summary:

Seungcheol was fine being single. It didn’t bother him one bit. His best friend, Jeonghan, however… He seemed to have a problem with it. Not the fact that Jeonghan was single, oh no. The fact that Seungcheol was single.
And Seungcheol could never say no to Jeonghan. It was actually kind of a problem sometimes. So he’d stupidly, idiotically agreed to go on a first date with someone Jeonghan set him up with.
It was only a date, after all. Two, three dates maximum. He’d be back to his predictable life and job soon enough.
What harm could there be?

Or, Seungcheol agrees to go on a series of first dates that end up each more unfortunate than the last, and starts to think he might just be happier with Jeonghan instead.

Notes:

DISCLAIMER: svt members act unhinged in this one... basically this fic is a bunch of terrible first dates, so the other members' characterizations are gonna have to be sacrificed :') i feel bad but at least it's funny, right?

Chapter 1: the preposition

Chapter Text

Seungcheol was perfectly fine being single.

He liked his alone time; it helped him be productive and get things done. He had a very particular way of organizing his things, and a partner would mess that up. He was also pretty picky with who he liked and, just to add to the fact, no one ever really asked him out. It didn’t bother him. He’d always considered himself a bit of a lone wolf anyway. Plus, he was so busy with work that he didn’t really have time to date.

Yes, Seungcheol was fine being single. It didn’t bother him one bit. His best friend, Jeonghan, however… He seemed to have a problem with it. Not the fact that Jeonghan was single, oh no. The fact that Seungcheol was single.

“Come on, Cheollie! You need to get out there! Have some fun!” he’d said, playfully slapping his shoulder. Seungcheol didn’t care to say that Jeonghan’s idea of fun was very different from his own.

“All you do is go to work, talk about work, or worry that you’re not doing enough work. You need something else in your life,” Jeonghan said. “I say we find you a boyfriend before summer starts. How do you like that?”

And Seungcheol could never say no to Jeonghan. It was actually kind of a problem sometimes. So he’d stupidly, idiotically agreed to go on a first date with someone Jeonghan set him up with.

“Just one date,” Seungcheol had conceded. “One person.”

“Or until you find someone,” Jeonghan had countered.

“No, just one is fine–”

“It’s settled, then,” Jeonghan asserted. They hadn’t settled anything, really. Jeonghan loved making deals so much he often forgot that the other party had to agree to it too. “You’ll date whoever I want until we find the perfect match. However many dates it takes.”

And again, Seungcheol really had a hard time saying no to that man.

It was only a date, after all. Two, three dates maximum. He’d be back to his predictable life and job soon enough.

What harm could there be?
